Short version: loved the hotel, lovely staff, great breakfast, fab spa, ok restaurant, 11 mins walk to ski lift, or jump on the bus from the hotel's front door.
The longer version...
We stayed here for 1 week in Feb 2024 on a snow sport holiday. Think property was formerly Hotel Antonius, but has been extensively remodeled - everything looked brand new.
Hotel staff were all lovely and helpful, especially the team on reception. Only issue we encountered was that reception was unmanned overnight which meant we were unable to settle our bill before we checked-out (we had an early airport transfer), but we were able to sort out later that day by phone.
Our room was excellent - warm, comfortable and spacious. Easily one of the nicest rooms we've had on a snow holiday. Walk-in closet area really useful on a ski holiday. Room came with a Nespresso machine and mini fridge.
Breakfasts were superb and never too crowded or busy. Some nice touches including a juicer and cooked eggs to order.
We only ate in the hotel in the evening twice, and it was OK. Pizzas were good. They do offer a 3, 4 or 5 course "surprise" menu, and we opted for the 4 course on our last night expecting a sort of tasting menu style thing. The surprise, however, was that it was 4 full courses which we couldn't finish. Also, minor outrage - they had a couple of Scottish gins on their drinks menu labelled as English. Should be docking some stars for that really...
Spa area was also fantastic (and as far as I could tell, available to all guests for no extra charge, plus no requirement to book a timeslot). A large "family" (ie swim-wear-on) area, including a pool, comfortable relaxation area and sauna was linked by corridor to the "adult's hideaway" with more saunas, a steam room, jacuzzi and relaxation beds. Unlike some Austrian hotels we've stayed at where nudity in the spa was actively enforced, it was very relaxed and left up to individuals, so some folk were in the buff and some weren't. There was also an outdoor pool but it's closed in winter. An outdoor hottub would be a nice addition as they do have the space. Towels were provided at the spa, and robes (but not slippers - bring your own) provided in the rooms. We did have a couple of massages and they were great.
During our stay they ran two free yoga classes each week with Alina - one on Sat evening (1700-1800), and one on Thu morning (0800-0900) - highly recommended, all mats, blocks, straps etc provided. Alina was great - though it would be fab if they could move the morning session a little earlier for guests wanting to hit the slopes in winter.
Ski room was warm and had plenty of racks and warmed boot holders.
The ski-bus stop was directly at the front of the hotel (bus "K" on the way out, and "B" on the way back) - and as the bus started from just up the hill from the hotel it was always on time, and you could always get a seat (not the case for stops further along the route). Buses ran every 30 minutes. Trip to the closest lift in Kaprun was only about 4 mins, or you could stay on the bus for a further 10-15 mins to get to the Kitzsteinhorn lift (this seemed quicker than getting off in Kaprun and taking the two lifts you needed to get there over the mountain). Last bus back from Kaprun was quite early (just after 1700) so we had to walk a few times (just over 10 mins in snowboard boots). Travel to Zell meant taking the 660 bus which was more frustrating - the bus stops are a couple mins walk apart, it was always crowded at peak times, and was scheduled to depart just before the "K" arrived so there was always a wait. On the plus side though it was frequent (every 15 mins); last return about 1920 I think.
Thank you all at Soulsisters for a lovely stay.
