Probably one of the cheaper options on the east side of the national park. It's located a short walk to the cable car and trailhead to Kurodake mountain. Staff were especially friendly and welcoming. There is the option of the set dinner meals (also breakfast). Definitely worth it simply for the experience and the dishes change each day. If on more of a budget, there is a small convenience store a couple minutes away selling noodles and other foods that can be cooked back at the hostel. Laundry machine is onsite. Dorm room was clean. There is a public bus that stops here, although the schedule appeared very sporadic. Also is possible to hitchhike, but may take some extra time as the main road had few cars passing with no towns in the immediate vicinity.

Had such a wonderful stay here. Staff is extremely friendly, welcoming and funny. Felt like home for three Nights. Had some of the best sleep on my journey in these tatami beds, probably because of the wonderful blankets and great pillows. Dinner is repetitive but high quality and delicious. Will rent you bear spray and other utensils, also provide maps for hiking and bicycles. Additionally, you get a discount for using the onsen of The other hotels. 10/10 would stay again!

Amazing hostel. I came for one night and end up staying two. Great location and the staff is lovely. Rooms are comfortable and it has that special vibe of a nice hostel. They have a special discount for solo bikepackers/cycletouring

All you are looking for in a hostel: great convenient location, clean comfortable place to rest, warm and friendly staff eager to offer local info, large lounge for socializing, shared kitchen to make your own meals, etc. etc.
They also offer special discounts for touring cyclists which is super nice and much appreciated!

Had a private room but it had a funny smell and we couldn’t open the window since there was no net and bugs were coming in.
Also the dryer upstairs was broken so there was only one dryer available which made it a bit tricky but staff made sure to take out the dry clothes from it if no one claimed them.
Bathroom was also okay but not the best.
Also thin walls so easy to hear everything from outside the door.
Highlights was the staff which was very nice (one of them offered me from his personal milk cartoon for my morning coffee) and location which is very close to the cable car
But other than that it was a bit of a rough stay

Really great hostel nearby a lot of mountain activities and onsen nearby. Living areas are clean and neat. Easy to meet other travelers. The dinner and breakfast are made with love. Everyone that works here is always joyful and the atmosphere is beautiful because of them.

I would avoid the 800 yen breakfast, really bad value. Showers and toilets are not as comfortable as other hostels Ive staued in at this price point.
