Google
The soups and sandwiches are *legit*. Freshly made, with really nice bread. They're great value, as a sandwich with a small soup is actually a lot of food. The staff are all incredibly friendly too. This is not just one of the best soup and sandwich places I've had in Dublin, but one of the best places like this I've had anywhere.

Google
I walked past this place twice. I will never walk past again. Great selection of soups and sandwiches to warm your heart. Lovely ladies who run it. Spicy aubergine and lentil ❤️

Google
Best homemade soups ever. If you want a light lunch, this sis the best option. Went with the Thai yellow chicken with rice on my first visit. Went with Dahl Indian lentil in my 2nd visit. I arrived earlier this time and the place was empty and the nice lady was able to provide me with 3 samples. For heartier soup go with the beef chili or potato leek. For lighter give my 2 a try and the carrot chili and coconut as well. The place can get busy.

Google
Loved it! Small little place for fresh wholesome food salads etc. Had a very unadventurous ham salad sandwich with homemade soup (of which there was a choice of several). Full for the and possibly the best quality and value in Dublin. Nice staff.

Google
A great selection of soups. Got a large soup, amazing helpings of bread alongside it + an Apple for €7.30. What a delight!

Google
Hearty, healthy and flavourful cheddar and broccoli soup served with bread was satisfying. And the vegetarian pepper and hommus sandwich was delicious. Perfect for a lighter, quick lunch. Recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! The homemade soup was perfect for gloomy weather today! I got a too good to go surprise bag and inside was a soup, an antipasto type salad with artichokes, olives, sundried tomatoes, cabbage slaw and potatoes! Also got a chunk of bread to dip in my soup and a little muffin! Looking forward to seeing what they have next time I'm back in Dublin!

Yelp
If you go to a place with soup in it's title and you order something that is not soup then prepare to be disappointed. I asked for the salami sandwich which cost €5.50 as I was starving and I needed a lot of sustenance. I really wish I took a picture of the sandwich. It was two toasted pieces of white pan bread (was not asked if I wanted white), Brennan's bread. Two slices of tomatoes. A few slices of salami. Lettuce. Some relish, loads of mayo and that was it. It would have to be the most loveless sandwich albeit ridiculously over priced sandwich for what I got. Get the soup. I won't be touching the sandwiches, the local pubs do a much better job.

Yelp
We're talking steaming bowls of loveliness here, not the mystery vegetable stuff you get in the Kylemore Café. Cheap and tasty and in good sized portions, options include dahl Indian veg, roasted red pepper, tomato and goats cheese, spicy veg gumbo, thai green chicken curry, chunky chicken and corn chowder and chilli beef. Eat-in prices start from €5.30, and you get a whacking hunk of bread and a piece of fruit thrown in for nowt. Good deal.

Yelp
I've been here some 20 odd times because it's so close by, but I'm not really that impressed. The soups seem to have nice ingredients but all the ones I've tried are very bland. The €3 takeaway option is a good value for money, small (veg) soup or salad, two small pieces of bread and a small piece of fruit, but it's not very filling. They also have €7 salads that I've purchased several times but they're getting smaller by the day. The takeaway box has shrunk and now the new box isn't even being filled. A bit disappointing to pay so much for a salad and not being able to fill up on it. On a side note, the lemon and raspberry squares are tasty.

Yelp
I wish I had visited this place during winter. But now I know where it's located! It's a tiny spot so be early as it gets packed with people pretty quickly. The menu on the outside is basically for you to have an idea, but in reality you need to check the board inside to know exactly what they're serving during the day. They have free mint water and each bowl of soup comes with bread and butter. I had a carrot coriander and it was very tasty. Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
With soup in the name, I expected more flavour in the soup. I got cream of vegetable, and somehow could not taste anything specific in it. The fruit that was there was very nice though. I also got bread that was really nice, but all just plain white bread. Cute and nice inside, but really small, so don't expect to go in with three and eat inside (there is outside but that is also small). The hours are a bit annoying because it is only for lunch.

George T.

Yelp
Very friendly staff, nicely priced, fresh food. Smoothies are perfect. Varied menu and everything is freshly prepared as soon as you order it.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Honestly this is the restaurant I miss the most in Dublin. When I was studying here I made it a point to eat at the Soup Dragon as much as I could. If you've ever been to Dublin you know how good the food is everywhere. So there are a lot of delicious options to choose from. The only downside of the Soup Dragon is they close a bit early. Every time I was here I made it a point to try something new. I would also get a takeaway of my favorite soup. What was nice about this place is that even have complementary water. The water was classy and clean infused with fresh herbs or fruits. This is one simple recipe I took back home to the US with me. If you're a traveler on a budget or just desire something delicious and nutritious please stop here.

Yelp
I used to come to Soup Dragon all the time when I worked on Capel Street. The place was always packed at lunchtime, and it's not difficult to understand why - generous portions of hearty homemade soups to take away, accompanied by wedges of really good bread (proper brown soda or seeded granary bread) and a piece of fruit. Take-away lunches don't come much more wholesome than that. They have eleven soups to choose from which cange daily and come in small, medium and large sizes (the large could easily fill two people), and a small selection of sandwiches, bagels, wraps and salads too. Tried and tested favourites of mine were the lentil dahl (spicy, buttery and very very filling) and the thai green curry soup. Mmmm delish. They used to have a slightly bigger outlet around the corner on the quays with more seating, which unfortunately is no more. It's been almost a year since I was here for lunch but I'll be back soon to avail of their new lunch deal, a small soup (usually about €5.50), bread and fruit for just €3. Bargain.

Yelp
Hands down the BEST soup I've ever had. Comes with bread and some fruit too, I I was way stuffed and SUPER satisfied. My favorite was the Thai Green Curry Chicken soup. It is incredible and mouth watering. I would (and have) considered going back to Dublin just for this soup.

Matt H.

Yelp
This place is a gem. We wanted a quick meal and stumbled into this place. The soups are amazing - inventive, filling, and well priced. The bread in the side was just perfect. Service was outstanding! One of our favorite finds in Dublin.

Yelp
I'm amazed I never spotted this café in Capel street before. Well, in all fairness, it is teeny tiny, and only has a small sign outside....so I won't take all the blame. But boy was I in luck, having purchased an online voucher for 5 euro which got me a soup with bread, drink and piece of fruit . I was expecting a boring aul bowl of soup, but I was surprised to see a very extensive menu - at least 10 different soups. And not just any soup, mine (Indian chicken, chickpea, lentil and rice) was more like a stew and very filling. It had just the right amount of spice. I can't wait to go back as I saw some really tempting options on the menu. And a bonus: it's mostly all healthy. Oh, and if you don't like soup...don't worry, they also do bagels, salads and sambo's.

Ari M.

Yelp
Unbelievable soup, and for such an amazing price! And 3 euro on a student budget--wow. It's a small vegetarian soup, but it's a healthy portion, in addition to freshly made bread and a piece of fruit. I come here again and again and again. I can't speak for their other food, but if you want cheap sandwiches, go to the Bakery near Cow's Lane in Temple Bar, not here. During lunch they're hellishly busy (lines out the door), but they work fast, especially if you pay with cash (please do).

J S.

Yelp
So happy my school is walking distance to Soup Dragon. The soup is always tasty, a healthy option, and the great price for take-away. Each day the menu changes with a variety of flavours, making it difficult to chose just one! In and out quick and easy. Feel free to stop by for hot drinks and yummy pastries too!!

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Soup Dragon, on Capel Street near the Quays, is a great place to get lunch. Instead of spending money on a Spar roll, buy a hearty meal here. This tiny restaurant does eat or takeaway. It makes 12 different soups that come in three different sizes. All soups come with bread and a fruit. The restaurant makes eating healthy a no-brainer. And it has a meal deal that costs only 3 Euro! Soups fall into three categories: vegetable like dahl Indian, meat like beef chili and seafood like chowder. Soup Dragon has branched out to add bagel sandwiches and salads to its menu. I highly recommend the soups but if you need the carbs order a bagel. They look tasty too!

Arsheen Q.

Yelp
Love the soups here, and again great to see a place that's primarily dedicated to one style of food, in this case....soups! My favourite 'food group'. They do sandwiches too which I have never tried but you can't find fault with the soup. Plenty of options for both meat lovers and vegetarians, and good portions too. I've tried a lot of the veg ones, and they're tasty and full of flavour. They used to (still do? haven't been in a while) do a €3 deal where you get a small soup, a piece of bread and a piece of fruit if you order to take away. The 'small' is still a pretty good portion size and the breads are yummy too. Great value!

Emilie A.

Yelp
Good price and generous portions. The lunch special gets you a heap of different breads and a fruit. Now... The place looks manky (it kind of is...) and the staff is closed and unpleasant. But I believe that a regular dose of something a bit dirty in your system will only make you stronger! Soups are always tasty and sometimes come with a mysterious kick to them... If -like me- you hate coriander, you'd better repeat it the entire time you're there because it automatically goes on everything and not much can stop those chain workers!

John M.

Yelp
Traveling from the US and stopped in for breakfast. Very VERY affordable. All meals less than €7.50. Friendly service and free wifi. Portions are also large for breakfast meals and price. We got the Dragon Breakfast, poached eggs, and the yogurt pot. Coffee was also delicious. Highly recommend!!!!

Cynthia P.

Yelp
I went there, as seen many good reviews. I offered a soup, size small.very disapointed, the portion was tiny, overprised and very average flavour. Lady serving the soup seemed enoyed, by me asking how the big and small size of the soup is. The place is tiny and cold. Will not return there.

Rose P.

Yelp
This place is genius, and in a city where a cheap meal is tough to come by - you really can't beat 3 euro. It's not the sort of place with dozens of menu options, just a few high quality pots of deliciousness at a time. Heartier, blended style (not chunky) soups with just the right seasoning to delicious ingredients ratio. It's also a cozy little spot - bright and colorful, and even though they were busy the service was quick and pleasant.

Hazel M.

Yelp
Recovering from a bad cold which completely neutralised my sense of taste and smell, I treated myself to a Fiver Friday special, the Massaman Chicken soup. I couldn't taste anything (heartbreaking) but I just loved the feeling of the warm hearty soup nourishing my poor tired old bod. Food is medicine. Soup Dragon is proof.

Josh N.

Yelp
This place has the best soup Ive ever had, for a steal. I would bike from lower lesson street here for my lunch. I cannot recommend this place enough! The only issue is that the place is kinda small, so sitting down can be problematic sometimes.

Rian W.

Yelp
This was a steal. Takeaway coffee - the good stuff - for two euros, and two pretty darn good sandwiches with nice side salads for something like three euros each. Not a ton of seating - just two tall side tables - but there's a nice table outside and there's plenty of room in Dublin to take the sandwiches away and sit on a bench somewhere.

Catherine B.

Yelp
Great selection of soups and salads. Really good value lunch special for €3 for veg soup or salad with fruit and bread. Best value lunch option in Dublin 1 in my opinion !

Eoin C.

Yelp
Have lunch here all the time. Best tomato soup I've ever had. You get a piece of fruit as well to round it off. Very fresh. Delicious cup of hot chocolate too. Beef stew is always good.

Bianca D.

Yelp
AMAZING soup and for such good value!! Try the Roasted Pepper soup. It's nice to see a place that know they make one thing really really well and stick to it.

Logan J.

Yelp
The $3 veg soup special is a great value for sure, but bring your own salt and hot sauce because both soups we ordered were really bland and we are definitely not salt-monkeys. The tomato/red pepper and the veg sausage gumbo. The bananas and bread were good though.

Lenovo L.

Yelp
Been there twice already this week! Great spot and great value, soup and a salad for €7!! Obviously soup is there business so you would expect a good selection, and they don't disappoint, they have loads of options. My onlt criticism is that they're on capel st :( the treck from abbey st (where i work) isn't too far but on a lunch break time is of the essence! Its totally worth it though, and as the weather gets colder i see this being a regular spot for me!

Yelp
Soup Dragon on the north quay is a lovely soup restaurant to go eat at during lunchtime and is very popular in the north city centre. The restaurant has a good choice in delicious soups, served with equally delicious slices of different breads. The Capel street branch is smaller than this restaurant on the quays, but both are popular and can be cramped at times. If it is busy though it is only a short walk to try your luck at the other restaurant.
