Source Foods is a fantastic spot that really nails it on so many levels. While the service is decent, it's the incredibly fresh ingredients and a truly fun menu that shine here. They dish up top-notch food that always feels wholesome and delicious. The coffee is strong and exactly what you need to kickstart your day, and the lovely atmosphere is just delightful. With so many plants creating a lush, green space, it's easy to feel a lovely reconnection to nature. This natural element brings a great vibe and connection to their whole dining experience. Definitely a brilliant place to visit!

Caught up with an old friend here a couple of days ago and wow, what a great experience! The vegan feast is absolutely delicious and nutritious, with kale, beans, pickled cabbage, falafel and more, all very nicely flavoured and presented. But the surprise standout were the juices. After starting with a freshly squeezed orange juice for lunch, and enjoying hanging out at the pleasant al fresco tables for a couple of hours, my friend had the pineapple crush and I had the green juice. They are all fresh and amazing flavour combinations - I really think the green juice is the best juice I've had, anywhere, ever! Can't wait to come back.

I’m not sure when they updated their fritters recipe, but I came here a few months ago and had the halloumi fritters with a delightful yogurt sauce, they were incredible! Fresh, balanced, light, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about them since. I thought i’d get some to take away today, but they have clearly changed their recipe and they are not good at all. Very awful dry, tasteless fritters, allegedly with halloumi yet i couldn’t taste or see any. I would call this meal a ball of batter with some corn, not fritters. The poached egg was way too overcooked as well, the yolk was solid. Such a shame, i really used to like this place but the quality of the food and service have dropped significantly.

Close to a perfect breakfast, up there with Swell. Delicious vegetarian options. Some of the best coffee in Perth. Service was unenthusiastic - perhaps my girlfriend, son and I are not cool enough - but the kitchen more than made up for the front of house. Superb, we'll be back.

Google
The menu has changed a little so the dishes are a little different; like now the Vegan feast comes with sourdough, And fritters currently are in a mango era! Many dishes have Vegan and GF options! This would be the ideal spot to sit for a coffee, do some study or work and have a cosy bite! I do wish the fritters had a bit more flavour/seasoning to them but I think a mango salsa would probably have a bit more vibrancy to its flavour!

If you based your visits on external signage you wouldn't call here. That's far from the truth. Great atmosphere, friendly smiling staff, quick service at a busy time, fabulous coffee and food. Well priced and well done Source Foods.

Lovely corner cafe with a good variety of food options. Japanese pancake was yummy but the maple syrup was a touch too smokey, very overpowering. Mushrooms with chimichurri was my ideal breakfast! Poached egg was slightly underdone but good balance of flavours

What an absolutely delightful treasure! The coffee is rich, delicious and made exactly the way you like it by lovely people who remember your order. Honestly the best coffee I’ve had ever! Travelling for work is a privilege but can feel a bit lonely sometimes and you folks were just a delight to see everyday. Thanks!

Yelp
What was I thinking with that 4 star review? Not good enough. Source, how I love thee. Always my first port of call when I want a light, healthy lunch that doesn't rely on meat for yums. Rabbit food I hear you say? No siree! Along with slim lovin' salads you can get comforting meals like organic burgers and sandwiches stuffed with tasty fillings and my mum's personal favourite- the cheesy bean quesadilla. Nom nom. I always steal a few bites! My personal favourite is the giant T burger. What else? I've never had to wait for a table, the service is friendly every time, its in my 'hood and even though they've passed ownership a few times over the past year, the standard has never subsided. Everything about this place is just so down to earth. Love.

Yelp
Raw food certainly has its time and place (shout out to the paleolithic period) but I've had enough medjool date caramel and nut protein balls to last an eon. I was craving a sweet afternoon treat to go with jasmine tea (#friyay) and hopped on my bike to visit an old friend: Source Foods Cafe. I picked up a vegan and gluten free muesli cookie, and mentally bookmarked half the dishes I wanted to come back for. There are plenty of places peddling organic, local and seasonal food, but what makes Source Foods Cafe different is that they were one of the first. Somewhat of a quiet achiever in the Perth cafe scene, the remarkably extensive menu has breakfast and lunch options featuring ethically sourced meats, local produce, vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Everything has handy acronyms so you can decipher what suits your body. The drinks menu is impressive too! Organic coffee, interesting herbal teas, Kommunity Brew kombucha, creative smoothies and colourful juices. Found in between Northbridge and Highgate, the cafe does fill up but you still feel welcome to linger with weekend newspapers or a good book. Plant-based food lovers and weekend brunchers, check out Source Foods Cafe for a nutritious meal and rediscover a Perth gem.

Yelp
A cute, friendly little corner of Northbridge that I must have driven past a billion times and thought "Oh, a cafe". (Then usually "...How long are these &#@!×$ traffic lights going to have me stuck here, $#÷×€#!!...") While taking a quick break on my busy morning to pop in, its popularity is evident. There's even a few folks standing around waiting for a table. Cheerfully enough waiting, but it's packed out. I snag one of the outside spots and the nearby traffic is just a tiny bit too close for my liking (I feel their pain over the wait for a light change, perhaps). Noteworthy: the Spaghetti Bar opened from the 21st October, there's flyers all over the place advertising gluten-free and vegetarian pasta dishes - so clearly they're extending the range even further beyond the red espressos, smoothies, chunky vegan nibbles and sandwiches. Plates on the tables around me are heaped with eggy, vegetable chunks, quiche and bagels, with generous-sized glasses for freshly squeezed fruit drinks. I'm enjoying the watermelon mix and jotted down the ingredients. Overall, a great atmosphere but you have to be in the mood for a bit of a wait and a bit of a squish. I suggest the inside tables - and definitely try take-away if you're a little shy of crowds.

Yelp
Situated on the corner of Beaufort St and Brisbane St sits Source and its originality. With a warm feel and friendly greeting we ordered lattes and some hunger stoppers. The orange and poppy seed muffin was textural and had all the right flavour notes. The pulled pork, corn bread, kale and egg dish was absolutely a homer in in terms of flavour profile and eclectic nature of ingredients. The overlooked poached eggs did bring the dish down from an near perfect example of breakfast. Lastly, our coffees were like warm and didn't have the usual latte quantity of flavour. In closing, a really good turn out with some minor sour notes, that could have been a flawless offering. Food 8/10 Service 8/10 Decor 7/10

Yelp
Ever since I discovered Source Foods, I can't stop raving about this delightful café. The standout point for me, is the fact that they use fresh, organic, locally sourced produce. Low mileage food means they support local growers and the food retains its freshness, as it travels the shortest possible distance before it hits your plate. Another salient point is the fact that all palates and preferences are catered to. Every one is included, so vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters are all welcome! If I lived closer to Source Foods, I would probably give up cooking and just eat all my meals there. I must mention the fact that the juices are amazing and make you feel more alive and more radiant with every sip. You can almost feel the goodness coursing through you and nourishing your body as nature intended. The macchiato is a world of its own, so creamy and tasty you can drink it without sugar! I must recommend the dish I had the other morning as it was pure perfection. The dish I speak of is the smashed pea bruschetta with the wild mushrooms, the eggs and the truffle oil. I did not know how good mushrooms could taste till I tried these, drove me a little wild I must say! The truffle oil drizzled on top certainly enhanced the flavour and made it more interesting. The smashed peas were packed with flavour and a nice change from avocado also the texture of the peas was perfect. The juices I have tried are the Super Green Smoothie and the Health Nut and found them both rich in colour and so full of flavour. I have also indulged in a Vonut, yes, it is a thing - a vegan donut and loved every bite of it. The decor is fresh and fabulous and the lovely potted plants give the place a living energy. I love the coloour scheme as sea foam is my favourite colour. The staff are friendly, well informed and competent. They provide an excellent level of service and do it with a smile. The young lass who served us was fantastic and went out of her way to make sure we enjoyed our dining experience! Food prepared with love and served by people with heart, what more could you ask for?

Yelp
I've been to many vegetarian/vegan restaurants but this one particularly blows me away. First and foremost, I give credit to the quality of the produce they use, it's fresh and tasty. Next, the creativity and originality of designing the menu options. I had the pan fried Brussels sprouts with fresh herbs, avocado and smooth white beans, that was a pretty unique dish. Not your typical English breakfast place, everything presented has been given great though. Yes, very healthy freshly squeeZed juice, not many cafés do that! Also they stock my friends raw desserts, by solace alternative. Service was efficient, friendly and quick. No long queues or loud laughing customers. Great for people who want a quiet coffee spot to hang. Definitely a regular hangout place for me!

Yelp
Quite a nice brunch (except for mine which was extremely overcooked & overpriced) at Source Foods in Highgate! Unfortunately, two dishes had overcooked poached eggs and my bacon was cremated and inedible! Southern Cornbread 6/10, Chili Scrambled Eggs 7/10 and Pair of Eggs w/Potato Hash 3/10

Yelp
It's all thanks to Yelp that I was able to find this place so thanks all you fantastic Yelpers! I really would have never known about this place had it not been for you so thank you. So my review, this place was fan-tastic. Cafe type/casual feel and you go up to the counter and order, but the food was delicious and I really appreciated the health food approach. Organic, healthy and fresh ingredients, vegan and vegetarian friendly, I just wish the toast I ordered would have been whole wheat but that was seriously my only complaint. I ordered the poached eggs with toast and it was delicious. I also got the Super Green Smoothie and oh my gosh! I did not give green smoothies enough credit because this drink was incredible!! Are green smoothies always this good or are there's just unusually amazing? Because this drink seriously tasted incredible. According to the sign it had lemon, spinach, ginger, banana, apple, and kale- that's it! It was so sweet and delicious, I couldn't believe it. It was also served in a mason glass jar and topped with a spinach leaf so I felt all fancy and proper drinking it surrounded with british and australian natives. haha sorry I kind of have an obsession with the accent here. The cafe had a nice ambiance as well, the menu had a chalkboard/hipster look to it and the decor was very organic and sort granola/hippy-ish. I liked that though :) I also loved the super sweet and friendly staff, they were so nice! I appreciated that they didn't make fun of me when I had to slowly count out my $1 and $2 coins. (I'm American so still trying to get used to the currency here.) Overall I would happily go back. I wish they'd come to the States!

Yelp
Love this place, it's never so busy it takes forever to get your coffee or food. Regularly come here on a Sunday cause it's a relaxed vibe with just really good produce. Options are made to order and cabinet food. A lot of the food is locally sourced (this the name!). The coffee is from their own blend done by Pound Roasters. Come along, check it out. So much easier than visiting the high street up the road Beaufort

Yelp
I've only ever been here twice for coffee, but each time the experience was pleasing. I was made to feel welcome, the coffee was delicious, there was ample newspapers & seating, free wifi and, I was tempted by the delicious food on offer...unfortunately I did not have the time to eat. There was heaps of organic produce on offer, and I would imagine this sort of establishment would have a range of gluten-free options. A true gem for residents & workers in the area! Edit 4/01/14 - I can confirm, the food here is delicious too. Had a organic beef burger & relaxing here when Lara Bingle & Sam Worthington enter and order some food...celebrity endorsement!

Yelp
A bit of a go-to for lunch because of the tasty options and the calm atmosphere. They usually have quesadillas on the menu, which I would recommend. They also have salads, sandwiches, bagels and burgers. Good vegetarian option, as well as raw desserts and a good selection of hot drinks and juices. They also offer red espressos and drip coffee.
google avatar

Yelp
Not bad. I had a lovely coffee here and staff were really friendly, although my chia pudding was OK. The saffron poached pear was a great idea but it was so overcooked it was soggy and flopped over in my bowl. The roast strawberries were also a good idea but not my thing due to the soggy texture. The eggs looked great though.

Yelp
Just amazing. Such nice food and coffee with friendly faces from all the staff. The plants are so pretty too, helps create the relaxing atmosphere I like the option of the house blend or the single origin coffee from Proud Mary, both delicious.

Yelp
I love source foods. Organic, fresh & healthy but most importantly I have never had a bad meal here. The vegan breakfast is massive & really yum, and the Swiss delight is also amazing. It's also open on Friday nights for burger night. Try the T-burger, best tempeh ever & it's so massive I can eat half & be full.

Yelp
I was blown away by this charming Cafe and its hidden treasures. It is quite low key and you could easily drive past without noticing. However the dining and menu options are extensive and the best part is that the foods are all sourced locally and of high quality. You can tastes the freshness. They offer vegan, vegetarian and gluten free choices that are new and robust rather than some Cafes who just have the same old same old. Fresh juices and modern healthy take on coffee and teas are also available. A great place to go for a healthy and delicious dining experience. I will definitely return for a Sunday morning brunch

Yelp
I love Source. This is a forward thinking cafe of the future, prepared to embrace healthy and sustainable living and not shun individual food requirements like they are a 'disability'. Their chicken and avocado salad sandwich is my favourite and my regular lunchtime pleasure whenever I am in the neighborhood. What hasn't been spoken about though is the quality of their coffee - it is really good. 5 stars guys, keep it up.

Yelp
It's all about the atmosphere. Small and cozy at the cafe may be, the atmosphere is always buzzing in here!! We walk from the office every morning to stretch the legs and grab a coffee, it's become our new local and we are happy to support this fantastic business!! The coffee can be a hit and miss sometimes, it all depends really on your barista. Nonetheless, we will keep venturing out for that cup every morning to be greater with a welcoming smile. The food there is amazing too! Not the cheapest, but you certainly know it's come from a hard working farmer down the road so I am more than happy to pay an extra dollar and support the locals.

Yelp
My office is literally 100 metres away from Source and having been there at least once a week for lunch over the past 6 months I can definitely vouch for their amazing burgers. The team in our office will call up for a take away order and wander down 10 minutes later to pick up a round of the steak sandwiches or recently I have been moving on to the Tandoor Chicken burger which I highly recommend. If the awesome flavours aren't enough to get you down there then it is always nice knowing that the food you are eating has been sourced from local producers!

Yelp
After driving past this place a million times with a "oh, I should check it out" constantly in the back of my head, I cannot believe what I was missing out on for so long! With the staple of great coffee and a selection of other drinks, Source delivers the freshest and tastiest lunches I have ever had! I recommend the chicken and avocado sandwich.....I will purposely 'forget' my lunch at home all week knowing that this baby is just around the corner! Happy and Healthy Eating Yelpers!
google avatar

Yelp
Yum food! The words "gluten free" and "organic" can often disguise the reality of your choice of food but there are very healthy options on the menu which is difficult to find sometimes when looking for a nice bite to eat on a day out and still feel good about it.
google avatar

Yelp
I tried the "green juice." $8. Pretty satisfied considering a lot of cafes charge this much for a pretty small juice, and this one came in a nice and big mason jar. My only complaint was the girl at the cash register. I politely asked before ordering what time they closed, (because I know how annoying it is when someone comes in right before you close) but she said they closed at 3pm, and it was just past 2 that I had walked in. Yet this sassy tart gave off the impression that she didn't want me there and everything seemed to be an "annoyance." This is sad, especially because the other girl who ran my drink out to me was rather pleasant, but perhaps, Source, you need to change your FOH staff. For this reason, I wi not be returning.

Yelp
Simple beautifully prepared food, a very fine espresso and really lovely people, thank you for making my morning a whole lot better!

Yelp
I've tried to go to Source two times now. I live literally a block away and can see their lights. Both times I've been craving a burger (including once on a Saturday at 6:18 p.m.), they have been closed. I don't get it. At what time do you start serving burgers? My partner has called in addition to these other mentioned times and was told at 5:30 p.m. that they aren't open yet. I suppose the only thing that has pushed us to keep sussing out a burger from here is proximity and the fact that my partner has tried them and can vouch for their "goodness". However, I'm losing faith quickly. And, as a restaurant, please have a functional website. It isn't hard to include a .pdf link of your menu. Super simple, indeed. "The new website coming soon" at this point is just a tease.

Yelp
I had an "O" burger here fore lunch a couple of weeks ago: vegan pattie, roasted beetroot, tomato, carrot, fried onion, mayo, the whole deal. My body was loving life for days. You can really tell the difference when ingredients are sourced fair trade and organic. Shame more places don't embrace such standards. The service is also really friendly and easy-going. The two guys behind the counter were smiling the entire time I was there. I saw some nachos go by which looked amazing (beans, fresh salsa, avocado) and all the serving sizes are huge. My vegan friend tells me the breakfasts are unlike any other. Props for the concept and impressive delivery.

Yelp
I had a friend visit from interstate recently and he insists on organic food only so I figured Source Foods would be ideal. Indeed it is for healthy, gourmet, organic foods. And the kitchen doesn't skimp on servings. I ordered an 'O' burger packed with organic beef patties, roasted beetroot, stacks of lettuce, tomato and carrot, and the most delicious home-made mayo. The burger is stacked so high, in fact, you get a sore jaw from taking your first bite. It's worth the stretch, though. And at just $12, it beats dashing down to the new Macdonalds up the road for a factory-made 'value' meal. Even the fries here taste better. It's as though Source really do stick by their wholesome guns. Every mouthful tastes less greasy, less fattening, less hormone-laden than your average burger.
google avatar

Happy P.

Yelp
I heard about this place by a friend. A friend that raves non stop about it. Apparently they have a beef burgers to die for. Unfortunately being a vegetarian this didn't excited me too much. She insisted I came with her, so we had a little track here, so she could get this oh so amazing burger. When I got there, I realised she had failed to mention, the organic, local, sustainable aspect of the restaurant. Also the amazingly friendly and helpful staff. I ordered a delicious sounding vegetarian burger, including the works, onion, carrot, beetroot, etc. It was delicious. The service was quick and efficient, the price was low! It was well worth the journey, and like her, I now rave about the place!

Yelp
Relatively small cafe with a great variety of healthy food. Order the tonic coffee - phwoar it's game changer!
google avatar

Yelp
Super friendly staff, yummy healthy food, what more could you ask for! Really appreciate the fact that they have free wi fi, which is always a bonus.

Yelp
me and my friends love it here, my friend recently moved into an apartment close by so we stumbled by it. The quality of the food is awesome, and the twits on traditional dishes are awesome, its great to try somewhere that doesn't have the same old stuff, but you can still get an awesome fry up on Sunday morning. Coffee is amazing. and the Juices are delicious. a bit on the pricey side, but defiantly worth a visit.
google avatar

Bec R.

Yelp
I drive past this cafe everyday after work and kept telling myself I should go there for lunch one day. I did on a Sunday and i definitely will not be returning in a hurry. I walked in, there were 3 couples eating and talking, I walked to the counter and the girl standing there polishing cutlery just stood there looking at me. Instead of serving me she goes out the back to get someone else to serve. I ordered a Swiss sandwich and a beetroot juice. I'm not too sure what took them so long to make a below average sandwich and make a juice, about 20 minutes. The juice was certainly not fresh, I make this exact juice all the time and I know what fresh tastes like. It tasted fridgey and flat. The sandwich was a rip off, nearly $10 for something I could have got the chef at work to make, just a slab of cheese, avo, and green mixed salad. The bread wasn't fresh and the crust was extremely had to chew. Good try on using the "organic fresh food" label, but perhaps if the food actually was fresh it may have been better.

Yelp
One of my fav coffee places. Great atmosphere, best staff, awesome food, juices and coffee!!
google avatar

Yelp
Source is another one of my local, regular- sometimes multiple-times-in-one-day haunts. They are continuously improving their offering which is great to see. The coffee is consistent and their juices are great too. One of the other awesome things they do is use the Rewardle rewards system so there's a great loyalty program. They also cater to nearly every possible dietary requirement with things for those on a raw/vego/vegan/gf diet
google avatar

Juliana K.

Yelp
Credit must be given where credit is due and I aptly take my hat off to Source of whom were amongst the early adopters to embrace the idea of using local, sustainable foods. As they say all good things that exist are the fruits of originality. This can be said of Source and the approach they take to providing delicious food and coffee in a sustainable manner. The Beaufort St location was daring initially but the locals and believers have warmed to both the café and the concept and many of the inhabitants of the surrounding areas share the same principles as Source. The service is warm and friendly with a young and vibrant team onboard. Source is a great place to sit with friends and watch the traffic roll down Beaufort St or stare out over the neighbouring park with a coffee that you know has been produced in a manner in which everyone wins - especially you!

Nathan P.

Yelp
Went there for breakfast and got the wild mushrooms(vegan, but I'm not vegan) and added egg. In not much of a salad eater but damn!! Best breakfast I have had all year

M M.

Yelp
I almost had a terrible experience at Source and wasn't looking forward to shunning them with a lack of stars in my review. Apparently their burgers are like akin to a culinary wet-dream or something, so I took the bus all the way in from uni one day on my lunch break in need of ample titillation of the G-rated variety. For some reason, I had it in my head that because they were organic and free range, that there's be lots and lots of vegan options, but this was not the case. Never mind, because they did have a vegan burger which, according to staff, is pretty massive. After checking twice that the burger was indeed completely 100% utterly vegan and gluten-free, I paid $14.50 and within 10 minutes my burger came out. With mayo. I sent it back, expecting the waitress to give me daggers for my dietary difficulties, but she was so incredibly nice about it. She apologised like 10 times, AND gave me all of my money back. And a new burger. Sans mayo. Not mad. Free lunch does exist!
