A wonderful place to stay, especially being so close to Newport. The mosquitos were a bit annoying in early June, however they weren't terrible once it cooled down in the evening. The beach is a wonderful place to play in the sand, checkout the south jetty, or just look for seashells. It's a very big campground, so definitely take the map when they offer it to you!

Google
The campsites on the west side of the road are large because there is a 15’ open space behind the sites and before the coastal forest begins. In mid February it wasn’t crowded. They have a few paths out to the beach so one path is close to every site.

Google
Good. Morning members and folks of South Beach state park so I wanna go on a little rat and rave this morning. So this picture is of volunteers in South Beach. State park home apparently are allowed to park as they please and where they choose regardless of the policies and rules, however, the case may be my family itself the gagnons. Have given been given a yellow slip in the pass and ask to move our vehicles or leave a camp because we're parked in appropriately now. Mind you, we're paid customers of a lot who can't pick and choose juice clearly. This picture of volunteers and state Parker, a prime example of you. Where are badge? You're allowed to do what you please. I think this part should get a very poor rating in review for that. I find it completely inappropriate. And when asked questions to make things such as this right. We're just targeted in yellow paper more and further an a** to leave, not appropriate. At all rules and policies are meant for everybody. Nobody, including the President or founder of a park, is exempt to these policies and procedures. As paid customers, if you're told you have certain. Ways to park. That should be how it is no exceptions , poor job South. Beach state park

Clean, sunny and quiet. The heated yurts are nice in spring. The squirrels sun themselves on the decks of the yurts every morning.

Biking to beach, crab pier, resturants, brewery. Nice park, able to hand feed squirrels. Very relaxing!

Google
I gave this park a 5 star mainly because this was the only campground that we stayed at that actually had ocean beach access right from the campground. This was a nice clean park, the bathroom and showers were clean. The sites were concrete pads, fire pits were huge and it was very quiet. I also found the best variation of mushrooms growing everywhere, it was very fairy tale like. Lol

South Beach State Park has quickly become one of my favorite places on the Oregon Coast. There's something incredibly peaceful about the way the dunes stretch endlessly toward the ocean, and the sound of the waves is a constant, soothing backdrop. The campground is spacious and well-maintained, with plenty of sites for tents, RVs, and even yurts if you want a little extra comfort. I stayed in my rooftop tent and loved how close everything was — the beach, the trails, and even the little camp store for essentials. One of my favorite things to do was ride my electric skateboard along the paved trail that runs from the park all the way into Newport. Cruising with the salty air in my lungs and seagulls flying overhead was an experience I won’t forget. The beach itself feels wild and open, with tons of space to spread out, build a fire, or just sit and watch the sunset. Wildlife is everywhere here. I spotted whales spouting offshore and countless seabirds along the coastline. It’s also a short drive to the Oregon Coast Aquarium and Yaquina Bay, so there’s always something new to explore if you feel like venturing out. South Beach has a calm, welcoming energy that made me feel truly at home. It’s definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to. south beach gangstas represent!

Google
This is a very LARGE campground. + Park had 3 main beach access trails. One is in excellent condition and is maintained for visitors with physical limitations. The other two are "ruff" in sections. + Nice paved 2 mile walking / bike trail goes from the day use area to the South Beach Jetty area. Path crosses the above mentioned beach access trails. Path is nice and wide. So it was joy to bicycle with my husky along side. - Very little to no privacy in between camp spots. - Cell service is very limited / not available in spots. - Bathrooms could use better cleaning.

Jodi M.

Yelp
Great location, well tended sites, flat pavement and beach access leads to great camping experience. Located just south of town, bike riders can take an easy ride to the Aquarium or Brewery or jetty. Hikers can take one of 3 paths over dunes to walk the Long Beach. Don't forget Depoe Bay or Waldport or other coastal gems.

Danielle P.

Yelp
This was one of our stop along our Oregon roadtrip this past summer. We didnt camp here. we passed thru and stay a few hrs to walk the beach. This is one of favorite things to do, walk the beach and look for shells. It was clean and well taken care of, from what I could tell. The restrooms and campsite did look clean. Cant wait to visit again, Oregon is a gem! None of the beaches where crowded on our week long journey.

Stephanie S.

Yelp
Solid 3 1/2 stars. Positives :Nice clean park. Lots of trails to walk or hike. Path to the beach 1/3 mile away. Playground for kids, Yurts and tent camping available as well as hook ups for campers. Negatives were only one line to check in that took half an hour to get thru with only a few cars ahead of us. After driving 3 1/2 hours in the pouring rain with 3 dogs I just wanted to get settled! Check in isn't until after 4 pm. No sewer hook ups only one dump station for the whole park!!! That's crazy for a state park that is this size. We will be back but now we are prepared for the negatives and so are you!

Dana S.

Yelp
Only camp here if you have no other options. Loud, drunken groups partying until 1am because dive bars and gravel parking lots are too upscale for loud, vomit ridden conversation? check. Camp host who lights up his site to Christmas time residential levels bc he can button up in his dark 5th wheel? check. Lots of ppl, tons of smoke, no security, no night sky, minimal privacy you're thing? check. If this all defines your idea of a solid camping experience, by all means. Otherwise, steer clear...

Andrea B.

Yelp
This is a great location to enjoy Newports offerings. The camp hosts were very friendly. We enjoy yurt 8 for its privacy, easy access to disc golf and trails.. Apparently, the wall heater was a dogs urinal. Thankfully, we brought our own heater this trip.

Jim G.

Yelp
Nice campground. They have a ranger to check you in between 4 & 6 PM. I did find it a bit windy in the afternoon and evening. In the morning the wind had died down.

John C.

Yelp
Such a good campsite to stay at. The outer sites are of course more private. It's a great location with Newport a few miles to the North, and Waldport 14 mules to the South. They keep campsites and restrooms very clean. With heavy rain, some sites will puddle. They do list in notes when reserving sites if they do. It's not a beach front camp, but a nice hike to get there. I really like to hike the old jetty trail to of course, the jetty. It's an easy hike. According to my Apple Watch, it was 2 miles round trip from our site in A loop to the jetty and back. In the fall, the trails are covered with wild mushrooms. If only I knew which were tasty and which would kill you. Cell service is spotty, but I have been able to get online with Verizon. When camp fills up, especially at night, it's a crap shoot if it works. Of course they sell firewood for $5

Chris L.

Yelp
Stayed a few nights at this campground and had a great time. It's quite large and our kids enjoyed the playground. There are lots of paved paths leading to the beach, which was great for walking and biking. The beach itself is super nice, with huge dunes and nice sand. We noticed a couple mosquitos, and the fog horn sounds every 10 seconds, but not a big deal. Location is handy, just south of Newport. I'd definitely stay here again.

Yelp
We knew we were going to be in this area on a road trip and looked up a few campsites we were interested in. We didn't have enough notice to book ahead so we knew we would be walk ins. On a Friday evening, after trying 3 other full sites, we found South Beach. It was a bit of a wait, but the ranger was nice and we were able to choose from tons of open tent sites. He asked us to drive in and find one and then we could come back and let him know, but after over a 30 minute wait in line, we just let his assign us one. Afterall it was just for the night. When we found our spot, someone had already set uo camp there so we ended up having to go through the whold process again anyway and the wait was even worse the second time around. Still, even with all of that, this site had everything we needed. The bathrooms were flush toilets and they were clean and not overcrowded. There were hardly any people in our area. They had showers and tie ups for pets. The spots were small but they were all we needed. We had a picnic table and a fire pit and a quiet place to rest our heads for under $30 and with no notice. The areas with RV's were really full and all the Yurts were booked up as well. I also dreaded driving through that area because it was a mad house with kids screaming and biking in the road and thrwoeing things. Still I highly recommend this place FOR TENT CAMPING. They had 2 trails to the beach and lots of camp hosts available as well as firewood. Plus, sushi was only a 10 minute drive. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a last minute spot!

Julia O.

Yelp
This beach is so pretty even in the winter months. It's very clean, there is plenty of sand to roam around in, and there are public facilities and picnic areas.

Unice A.

Yelp
This RV Park is pretty big and each spot has enough size. Very nice and beautiful trail only thing I give 4 star because if you want to go to beach its about half mile from camp. It's little scare to walk by night.

Kathy F.

Yelp
Very nice campground. When we pulled in we were the only RV beside 2 others in our area but by the 2nd day the area was full. It's very kid friendly with lots of area to ride bikes/scooters. Fire pit at each campsite. Very little TV channels and no internet which was just fine for us. Our site was nice and close to bathrooms but of course with COVID19 the showers were closed. The trails around us were really nice walks. We will book again!

Julia D.

Yelp
Crazy flat. Beautifully huge. Clean bathrooms. Lots of logs on which to perch. Oregon doesn't eff around with their parks. And that makes me massively proud and grateful to call it my home.

Yelp
This is a 1 star review because campground staff declined to ask a problem camper to leave. An approximate timeline: 2023 05 08 4:00pm: Problem camper "C. Garza" (according to the reservation slip on their campground) arrived, ditched their dog in the yurt next to mine, left. 4:01pm: Dog, all alone in a strange place, started whimpering and howling for help. Could be heard throughout the campground. 5:00pm: Dog still barking and whining. Dog is really having a bad time and making sure all other campers have a bad time. 6:00pm: Still abandoned, still barking, still a problem. 7:00pm: I complained to park staff. They called a ranger. 7:30pm: Ranger cruised by, asked if the dog had been barking for a while, left. Never got out of his car. Whole interaction took 20 seconds. - In this time multiple other campers came by, complained about the dog, said they had also complained to campground staff, asked if anyone was going to do anything about it. 8:00pm: Still barking, still a problem. 8:20: Sunset. Still barking. 9:00: Problem camper "C. Garza" arrived back, walked dog, claimed he had only been gone 2 hours, abandoned dog in yurt again, left again. Dog started barking and whining again. Again I gotta reiterate everyone within 100 yard radius was annoyed by this. 10:00pm: Dog is now running around loose, no leash. Problem camper "C. Garza" ran into my campground yelling a racial slur. (Against my race, not that that should be relevant, but it hurt me.) He says "That's the dog's name." But that's worse. You do see how naming your dog a racial slur is worse than just calling a random stranger a racial slur, right? 10:30pm: I complain to park staff again. They advise me to call local sheriff. They claim they are "limited in what they can do." Ma'am what you can do is you can ask the problem camper to leave. I feel like the trifecta of "animal abuse" + "annoying campers for 5 hours straight" + "being aggressively racist" is enough reason. This is a 1 star review because campground staff declined to ask a problem camper to leave.

Yelp
As we cruised up the Oregon Coast South Beach was a lifesaver because they had several loops in the back that were first come first serve! This was great for people such as ourselves that don't always plan ahead! We had a beautiful spot tucked away in the trees. This is a Huge St Park! It was almost full with probably 300 spots! Beach access is a good half mile walk or more each way. Absolutely awesome trails here. I hiked several of them and had a wonderful time exploring. Also at night we could hear the seals barking all the way from Newport. Too fun! Park host here were very friendly and a lot of them. We bought wood here for 5 dollars a bundle. Wood was very wet and not seasoned. My only bad about this park was because of no rangers both nights we stayed here late into the night we had people who were living out of their cars come in and not pay and leave in the morning. There seemed to be quite a bit of this going on. Also because the showers were closed there was a lot of bathing at the sinks in the public restrooms. So maybe instead of getting a nice private spot you might want to reserve here.

Scott K.

Yelp
Exceptionally well kept state park. Large tent sites with enough room that you're not hearing your neighbors snore. Bathrooms are nicely centralized with plenty of stalls and showers. Best part is that the showers are *not* coin operated and SUPER CLEAN! Rangers are present in case of trouble but not overbearing. We reserved and paid online so our check in was quick and easy.

James D. H.

Yelp
Sweet campgrounds. We reserved two Group Sites. #1 & #2. There was more than enough space for all our tents. We kinda made 3 little hang out spots. So everyone just went from spot to spot hanging out and laughing. The kids running around playing and climbing trees. The Group Sites themselves are spacious. The Parking lot is more than accommodating. The Bathrooms for our sites were Porta Potties. Ya. Nasty. We did find the Yurts and The Two New Bathrooms. (Built 3-27-2017. Had a sticker. lol.) So my wife and I would go for walks to the new building and running water. Also nearby. Showers..... Free Showers ...... They have all kinds of stuff at the Ranger Store. Crappy Coffee. Newspaper. Wood for sale. Ice for sale. We also found out that we could have up to 50 people at our sites but only 12 vehicles. We had 13 vehicles and a Pop Up Trailer taking up 5 spots and we still didn't even use 1/4 of the whole lot. They want another $6.00 a vehicle after 6 per site. I was stunned and upset when I heard this. A friend said, They don't do it to be mean. It's because they're greedy! Ding. Ding. Ding. Ah. I get it now. My bad. Carry on. We had easy access to the beach. It was a little walk and a sandy hill climb but worth every breath as you crest the top. Out of breath. Thirsty. Then you see Gods glory. The ocean is a place I never get tired of. My Wife is more crazy for the beach than me. We can never get to the beach enough. The beach is clean and beautiful. Low tide makes for an enormous beach. Everyone had a great time in the chilly water. I can't wait for our camping trip next year. And for all the people who hated SB because of the mosquitos. Yes your in the forest. Yes. There are mosquitos. There are also..... Flies. Bees. Birds. Squirrels. Chipmunks. And many other creatures God made. Prepare accordingly. That is all.

Jackie M.

Yelp
This is a really beautiful beach south of the jetty at the mouth of the harbor. There's a trail you can take to the jetty or you can walk south along the beach for a long way. There's a ton of parking and there are bathroom facilities. Like most Oregon beach state parks, the beach is the attraction, and there's not much else to see. But really, what more do you need?

Jeanne Z.

Yelp
I was driving up hwy 101 from Reedsport up to Pacific City. And, I used this State Park as a rest area/as well as a spot to let my dog stretch his legs. We walked around the beach, and yes there was a lot of people there, but it was spread out enough, we had plenty of space to ourselves. It didn't feel overly crowded. Since I was heading north and had to take a left, to turn west. And, then yet another Left when I was leaving to continue North. BUt, I felt that it was safe and well protected. ANd, there was a middle turn lane, so that was nice. Another thing I liked about this place, is that I could make a lot of LeBron James jokes, with sayings like, "I'm going to take my talents to *South Beach*"

Mikhail H.

Yelp
We did not camp here - we were just passing through and did day use. It was such a lovely area. We were very lucky that it was not crowded at all and such gorgeous weather!

Tish O.

Yelp
If sand spurs as turf, mosquitos the size of birds and brawling hillbillies at all hours of the night are your thing, this is heaven. The bathroom facilities are nice and clean, but may be quite a hike from tent spaces. Entry to the park was helpful, friendly and well done, however, the absolute screaming match for an hour and a half at 11 pm was confusing. There is a park ranger and several camp hosts who were nowhere to be found when the raucous brawling could be clearly heard throughout the camp. The screaming match at 7 am was also refreshing, as one family tried unsuccessfully to get their children ready for school. We are seasoned campers and not picky, but we won't be back. Edit: We gave up one prepaid night here and went to Tillicum camp about 20 minutes south on the coast. Best decision!

Logan C.

Yelp
If you're looking for a nice clean place to camp for the family South Beach State Park is a great place for it! Nice amenities, large camp sites, and close to the beach (About 1/4 mile). The only negative I think we experienced during the trip is the bathroom/shower lighting which I believe they turn off every morning at 7am which make using the facilities fun to use when they're dark! They have sky lights but Oregon coast overcast makes them pretty much useless that early in the morning when everyone is waking up getting ready for the day. Not a big deal but I would say it would be good to keeps the lights on for another couple hours to let it get a bit lighter out.

Jen B.

Yelp
I want to make one thing really clear. When I say that the fog horn blows every ten seconds, I am not exaggerating. I mean, in the most literal sense possible, that there is a fog horn that blows every ten seconds, 24-7. We timed it. Depending on how the wind is blowing, this can fade into the distance and be atmospheric, or it can sound like it's right next to your tent. If you're not good at tuning out repetitive noises, you might not sleep. Otherwise, it's a nice little campground. A little too tightly packed, but the walk to the beach is lovely and the beach itself is gorgeous. Much less trafficked than cannon beach or seaside further north. We absolutely loved our time on the beach. The mosquitoes were crazy thick on the path to the beach but didn't get into the campground while we were there.

Amanda N.

Yelp
Yurt was great, no complaints at all. Staff in the hospitality center was also extremely helpful and friendly. My only complaint: The bathrooms. Especially the ones near the day-use area. DISGUSTING. Truly. There's no trash in the bathrooms, so everyone just throws it all over the floor. You can see why that's a bad idea in a women's restroom. The beach is great, the parking is plentiful, but those bathrooms...awful.

Maggie A.

Yelp
I stayed three nights in a yurt with my family of four at South Beach State Park. I made the reservation approximately eight months in advance through the Oregon State Parks website, which uses Reserve America for reservations. The reservation process was easy. At about $150 total for the three nights, I found it to be a great value. Our yurt was shaded in the "C" loop, with two porta-potties just outside our campsite. The full restrooms, with free hot showers, were a quick three-minute walk from our campsite. I felt that our campsite had an adequate amount of privacy. Lights, heat, and electrical outlets for cell phones, Kindles, and Nintendo DS systems charging inside the yurt were great. The park had a "hospitality center" staffed by volunteers where we could buy ice and firewood. The Junior Ranger program was fun for my kids to participate in. They took classes about temperate rainforests and made bird masks. The park had a playground in the center. The beach was a short 1/3-mile walk from our campsite. There were trails around the park that I enjoyed utilizing for my morning run each day. The town of Newport is a short drive from the park - we were thankful for a nearby Fred Meyer.

Eric P.

Yelp
Huge, that is really the best explanation for this park. With several loops and dozens of spots, this park is one of the largest that I have been too. However, with that said, the amenities are very nice. Our site had full electrical and water, although you have no idea how many stupid tent campers only were hogging up perfectly good RV spots. That torque's me just a bit. However there is no sewer there, so one needs to ensure that they are doing the right things such as emptying their grey water on a regular basis. There are spots all over the campsite to empty which is a great thing. Just keep that in mind if you are planning on being at the site for more than a couple of days. Having clean bathrooms and showers is fantastic especially at a sandy beach location. After having the annual dip in the Pacific, it is very nice to be able to get into a hot shower and get all cleaned up. There are numerous walking trails to partake in with you animals and even though there are literally dozens of sites here, you don't feel as though you are wedged in next to your neighbor. In addition here at this campground, they also have Yurt's that you can stay at. This may be something that we will do in the future as they looked really nice. Easily within a five to ten minute walk to the ocean, this is one of the better parks that we have stayed at.

Fei C.

Yelp
Great location, close to beach. Park is clean, bathrooms clean and showers hot. Most campsites have electrical hookups. Downside, is it gets really crowded and campsites are a little tight. Also, ton of mosquitoes. Only relief from the mosquitoes is the beach.

Susan D.

Yelp
Made reservations for yurt capacity 8 people..6 MONTHS' IN ADVANCE.... Arrived today, Yurt has one futon, and one bunk bed with double on the bottom and single on top... I count 5. We have friends coming expecting a place to sleep & we have NO ROOM. Host says sleep on the floor. No thank you. No offering to make this right. There's actually not even floor space to sleep more. No refund, no sleep, don't stay here. Ever. I will be sleeping in my CAR TONITE!!!

Paul M.

Yelp
This is a fantastic Park in the winter. Stay the hell away from it in the summer. There is a severe mosquito infestation and they are out 24 hours day. We were being ate alive in 80 degree weather. It's a shame we planned on staying a week, but like most the campers around us, we are leaving

Figaro R.

Yelp
First time to go camping here. A nice place for camping with kids. Clean amenities. Quiet park. Beach is a walking distance with sand dunes. Seals were barking at night while we were there for three days but we didn't mind because it adds to the experience. If you listen really good you will hear woodpeckers every morning and with keen eyes you will see blue jays and other pretty birds. There are ample shades of trees around the campsite. The rangers were very nice and kept the park clean everyday. Campers were courteous to one another. We have a nice time on our three days camping trip:). Oh one more thing, campsite has a nice town and also is near to agate San dunes and Yaquina lighthouse- check it out!

Ashley G.

Yelp
The Ranger is a total dick for no reason. The camp spots are nice, and the showers appear clean. & the maintence guy was pretty cool! But I'd rather save my 21$ a night and go some where else... I did read the reviews on this place but I figured I'd try it anyway.... Maybe next time I'll just listen to the reviews

Beth M.

Yelp
I should have known better. The humongous campground, numerous amenities and proximity to the beach all come at a price: campsites that are too close together, people who don't know the "rules" of camping, and SO. MANY. RVs. I'll admit it, I'm judging, and I probably don't get the RV culture. But if you want to sleep in a real bed and play XBOX all weekend, just stay home, for the love of Pete. I like tent camping, and fortunately, South Beach just added a tent area, which, if we ever go back (doubtful) we will book instead of the site we ended up in (G loop). I am not exaggerating when I say I was kept awake by my neighbor to the north dropping the F Bomb on her kids until about 11 pm, then kept awake by my neighbor to the south SNORING until about 3 am. The sites are so close, I felt like Mr. McSnore-y Pants was in my tent with me. Note to self: ear plugs. Numerous campers in the loop felt compelled to share their hideous taste in music at max volume at all hours, and unsupervised children actually played tag in our site until well past dark. IN OUR SITE. The hosts were very friendly, the mosquitoes were total a-holes, and the best part is that we wanted to spend so little time at the park that we actually found 3 other AMAZING campgrounds nearby that we will stay at instead next time we go to the coast. In a nutshell, buyer beware. I should have done more research, and figured out that this is not the kind of camping experience I was looking for.

willow t.

Yelp
South Beach State Park Pros: Dog friendly yurt Clean and warm bathrooms and showers Beautiful beach Beautiful Park Perfect location for Aquarium, Newport, etc... Nice yurts Cons: Tons of screaming children Tons of screaming teenagers Tons of RVs Drum circle to all hours of the night Longer walk to beach Camp spaces and Yurts very close together All in all a pretty good park with a few areas for improvements.

Erin L.

Yelp
It's nice but if you're looking for seclusion this ain't your place. The plots are really close to each other and we saw a dominos delivery car delivering pizza at night.

Amy B.

Yelp
One of my main objections to group camping sites is that they ALWAYS seem to be very very very far away from the showers - as you have to drive to them. Group camp sites are very convenient when you are traveling with a large group of people and a lot of tents and we were thrilled to see that South Beach State Park offers a group camp area. One of the huge benefits is plenty of parking, ample space to set up tents, and being farther away from other campers (so as not to wake them up). Another huge benefit is that RV's are generally prohibited so it is a lot quieter. South Beach SP is beautifully maintained and our site was about a 1/4 of a mile away from a gorgeous beach. Really breathtaking! The beach is clean and we were one of the few people on it. Very private! My only complaint with this park is the park "hosts" weren't very friendly to the teens that I had on the trip (seven boys - four of which were boys of color). I felt we were treated particularly poorly by the volunteer hosts. Additionally toilets other than port-a-potties and showers closer to the group camp site would be a vast improvement.

Travis B.

Yelp
Great campground!! Super clean, friendly people, nice camping spots, close to a huge sandy beach. Restrooms are clean and not too crowded. We stayed here over a weekend and were fortunate enough to secure a reservation one week in advance during the busy summer season, but I definitely recommend reserving a spot a month in advance, if not sooner. Also, one thing I read about but didn't experience was the noise....by 10-11 everyone is done for the night and it's super quiet...too quiet really. Everyone wakes up at around 7-8...kind of early for us but it's camping. Cool things to do: -Walk to the beach late at night...no one is out there at night and it's amazing with the stars and the moon. -Build a nice fire on the beach. Bring your own wood...driftwood is scarse. -Hit up the seafood place down the road attached to the grocery. Pricey but delicious. -Walk out on the jetty that extends from the beach into the sea...not sure if you're allowed but we did it late at night and it was awesome.

chris g.

Yelp
If you camp here in a tent think about if you can sleep with a boat horn going off every 10 seconds all night . We got up at 11pm ,packed up and drove home to corvallis to get some rest . Impossible situation .

Missy W.

Yelp
Wonderful campground with more amenities than any other I've been to. Hospitality center, activity center, amazing playground, CLEAN BATHROOMS, horseshoes, disc golf plus great trails to beach! Spots are a bit close together and if it rains, some spots get quite a bit of flooding. The place is quiet and friendly and overall its a great place to camp.

Katie G.

Yelp
Not a regular camper here but enjoyed this place. There are a few paths to the beach which is about 1/3rd to 1/2 mile walk. Gorgeous. You can hear sea lions barking all night in the distance. Cute. The bathrooms are meticulously clean. The tent sites are large. Checking in was professional and polite.

Nichole S.

Yelp
Avoid I loop when tent camping. Toilets a walk and located in H loop. Cut our trip a day short due to sketchy characters who wandered I loop at night. Also was awakened to profanity filled arguing. Trails behind campsite lead to empty area. We thought about staying a second night but when we went to check out the trail we saw the same characters from the night previous. It was really too bad. The Rangers were very good when we told them about our experience but we are on vacation and wanted to ensure we slept well instead of repeat of the first night. It is a nice campground--we expected crowded and it is. I would rather be crowded with retirees in RV's than more space and nighttime visitors. I would recommend staying closer to the entrance and be crowded. The staff was great and understanding. The incident was out of their control. I loop needs some work--I'm not sure how to fix it. I would avoid it.

Yelp
pros....Nice park, fairly clean...Nice trails and close to the beach.... Cons that lower the scores...one garbage area where you were watched by a camp host who was hovering over you making sure you were recycling. This is simply fixed by providing a handout explaining the camps recycling procedures....3year old on a vary small made for 3 an under child 3wheel scooter was told he couldn't play without a helmet, ok I get it but he came into our camp sight telling us they have kids bike helmets for sell...sounded like an easy way to make money...mean while men's restroom urinal was broke the whole weekend, fix that not make money on kids helmets....

Yelp
Wonderful place to camp! We stayed in a yurt for 3 nights, and I wish we could have stayed longer. It's close to the beach, and close to Newport if you need food or anything. Clean restrooms, hot showers, and quiet evenings. A great place for families, I felt very safe and everyone was friendly. The park rangers and hosts were helpful and available. The paths from the campground to the beach are great, paved and there is a boardwalk on the sand for my friend in a wheelchair who usually can't get to the beach. We also took the kids down to the south jetty which was amazing! I will be reserving space for next summer!

Yelp
Great camp ground. Nice and close to many attractions in Newport. Camping grounds are nice and big. The park staff was great and helped when I was missing my picnic table. I would camp here again because its close to the beach, close to Newport and is fairly inexpensive. Cost around $25 a night for camping with water and electrical hook up. I was wise and got a camp site close to the showers. Do your homework when you book it online !!!

Yelp
Did the hiker biker camp thing here. Beware of the homeless guys wandering around. Kind of a buzz kill for such a great place...

Yelp
It is a nice campground along the Oregon coast. It is very easy to fly past the entrance - even with GPS on and just returning from a short trip to town for more ice. We loved being able to quickly walk to and be on the beach. Timing is everything as this campground fills fast and sometimes doesn't keep check on the more rowdier sites.

Yelp
Rangers were very nice. They had bike decorating and Fourth of July parade and contests/bbq for the kiddos. Spaces were pretty open and tight... Seemed like paved site angle was opposite for what was needed to back in a trailer... Perhaps rigs and trailers have grown since this park was originally laid out. We have a very small trailer but found it challenging to get in our spot because the loop was so narrow and the spot angle was opposite the way it should be for the direction of the loop. Restrooms were clean. Good water pressure and heat, except when someone flushed, so if using the onsite facilities, best to time your showers with low bathroom traffic. Quiet time at 10pm seemed to be observed by all -impressive on a long holiday weekend. Beach access very convenient and lots of biking opportunities...

Yelp
Had a nice stay here while visiting friends in the area. Very clean and well maintained. Has activities center that you can borrow or rent items from in case you forgot them. Very family and kid friendly

Yelp
If you like looking at everyone else camping while you're camping, then this is place for you. We were so lucky we got a camping spot in the very back. It was the only place with trees that created privacy. Otherwise, it's like a cramped motorhome city. It looked like how people will live close-together in a clearing after the apocalypse.
