The 8 Best Hotels & Resorts in Barbados to Book Now - AFAR

"A boutique property in the south coast's party-friendly St. Lawrence Gap, newly renovated in 2017 and offering 34 studios and suites decorated in shades of aqua, a modern pool deck, and striking ocean views; its proximity to multiple bars and nightclubs makes it an excellent base for nightlife but means it can get noisy after dark." - AFAR Editors

We had a wonderful stay at the South Gap Hotel. The room was modern, spacious, with a fully stocked kitchenette (microwave and full fridge, no stove), a big comfortable bed, great bathroom, and powerful air conditioner. The views from our room were beautiful! If they can accommodate, ask for a ground floor room, it's a walkout to the pool patio and that was great. The best part of our stay was the staff. They truly made us feel like family from the moment we arrived. I have to thank Nicholas, one of the bartender/restaurant staff, for giving us exceptional customer service and going out of his way to make sure we were always confortable and fed! He even recommended excursions that really made our trip memorable. The front desk staff was also lovey. The only issue I experienced was that the hotel was noticeably understaffed. The housekeeping staff took quite a while to get to our room, with staff missing our room entirely one of the days we requested cleaning. We could see the 1-2 housekeeping staff were doing their best so this did not make or break our experience.

This was my first time visiting Barbados, and this hotel exceeded my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcome and well taken care of. Shakeeta and Sharieka were especially kind and patient they went above and beyond to help me book excursions and dinner reservations, which took a lot of the stress off and allowed me to truly enjoy my birthday. Exceptional staff like them are the reason people come back. Honestly, they deserve a raise! Jeremy (I believe that was his name) at the bar he had braids was also super friendly and added to the relaxed vibe. The pool area was the best part & gorgeous, with stunning views of the ocean. I also loved all the amenities in the room. Housekeeping did an amazing job. I'm very particular about cleanliness, and the room was spotless, smelled fresh, and the AC was perfectly cold. I gave 4 stars because the only downside was the cable channels and Wi-Fi, which were a bit spotty & cut completely out during my stay. But overall, I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for an affordable, chic hotel experience in Barbados. I’ll definitely be back & tell my family and friends to stay here!

Only stayed 1 night as a stopover before flying to St Vincent. So can't comment on a prolonged stay at South Gap Hotel. However it has a nice boutique feel about it.The rooms are well equipped if you want to self cater. Nice sea views from the balcony. Really nice pool area with composite decking for the flooring and the wooden sunbeds are excellent quality with mattresses thicker than most room beds - generally a good sign.||The hotel is right in the middle of St Lawrence Gap so you will always find something to eat and drink with all the bars and restaurants here. However, the hotel has its own bar and restaurant (Tropical Mist). We had breakfast included and it was really excellent quality, I had Bajan breakfast with flying fish, bajan bakes, two eggs and plantain. All in all a very good, very short stay!

Very comfortable and clean hotel, with a wonderful view. We recently enjoyed 10 nights here, visiting family and exploring the island. There is no beach access, but a large deck with swimming pool, and plenty of stylish loungers. Very good restaurant. |The staff were exemplary. The aircon is good. The bed comfortable. The shower works well.

Excellent place to stay in barbados, all rooms boast balconies with amazing views. Everything you need with modern facilities, extremely clean studios which are serviced everyday with fresh towels. The pool was fab with really comfortable sunbeds. There can be some noise a couple of nights but we knew this before booking and brought earplugs. Lots of restaurants nearby but the best for us was tropical mist which is in the hotel, very reasonably priced, great food and drinks. We enjoyed walking up to the boardwalk and having a drink with the sun going down. We hired a car and went towards the west coast with brandons beach being one of the best, really quiet. We also had a great time rumtasting at stades distillery which is on brighton beach. We'd like to say a huge thankyou to tia and her reception colleagues, very informative, helpful and welcoming.

First impression was, is this our 'hotel' it has more of a motel but with a 4* hotel pricing. Our room looked very dated and cheap. Bathroom ventilation was almost non existing resulting in a constant moldy smell. Overpriced, way too expensive for what you get. The included breakfast was really basic. Beautiful sea view from our room was the only bright spot I could think of. During our short stay, we didn't encounter any noise issue in our room which was a big relieve esp. after a long flight from the EU. So we had a decent night sleep. The staff was friendly, period. Helping customers with their suitcases was too much to ask.

Been to Barbados 3 times, first time at south gap hotel and certainly won’t be the last ! What a beautiful hotel, not too big, clean, beautiful views, great position and the best staff. Food amazing too. Staff couldn’t do enough for you from reception, to restaurant staff (Amall, Ricardo, Nick Camile to maintenance (Edward) and cleaners. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Didn’t want to leave and can’t wait to return .

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the South Gap Hotel. The premises were clean and well maintained, and the rooms were clean and exactly as pictured, with beautiful ocean view. The hotel staff was very nice, helpful, and accommodating. Special shout out to hotel staff, TIA, she was very helpful, very professional, and overall a very nice person. We will be back again for sure to stay at the South Gap Hotel. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
