South Loop Market

We found one of the best gourmet neighborhood markets in the city. We discovered South Loop Market at 2340 N. California. This is a family owned business with 5 different locations. Each location has a deli with cold cut sandwiches and salads, but this is the only location where they sell hot food and burgers. This market is way better than your average neighborhood market. They carry everything from pet food to chips and salsa. They offer fresh produce, groceries, organic and vegan food as well. If there is something that you forgot for the meal that you are making, or when company arrives unexpectedly, this is the place where you can get everything you need. They also have a full liquor store with a good selection of wines, both domestic and imported. There is also a well stocked fridge where you can select the perfect chilled wine or champagne for a byob restaurant or for an at home evening. You should definitely check out South Loop Market stores. You will be pleasantly surprised at what you find.

Everything you need. Not the cheapest but high quality products and friendly staff.. nice and scenic neighborhood.

Tired of Walgreens locking up everything and only having one checkout? This market has you covered. I almost never review anything but these folks have been amazing. Quick dinner? Need something you forgot? They probably stock it, it’s saved my bacon many times. Great deli, they’re always coming up with new stuff. Fully stocked on liquor and beer. But most of all, it’s the people. They give a shit. They’ll open another register just to get you checked out and moving faster so you can get back to living your life. Can’t say enough about their customer service, everyone is kind and on the ball. Louis and Ray and the others run tight as a navy ship. Support your local stores, these folks are damn good at what they do.

The smash burger was fantastic—juicy and full of flavor. The quality, especially at such a great price with fries included, is unbeatable. The chopped cheese sandwich is so good. Highly recommend.

Such a great market/bodega! Breakfast sandwiches are delicious and affordable (great size too!) and it’s always a handy place to walk over and grab a couple things.

Pretty solid market / Bodega, has a good mix of food and home goods as well as a deli counter.

Overall decent market. Little overpriced. One big complaint is that I bought a Heinz Ketchup squeeze bottle, that was already opened, the ketchup was coloured differently, and tasted different. Almost as if it went bad or was a repurposed bottle that was sold — weird vibe
