South Pacific BnB Clifton Beach, Cairns Queensland

Maz and Alan were great hosts. We enjoyed our stay in their cottage. Maz served various exotic fruits each morning. The location was great with walking distance to the beach and restaurants. We're would highly recommend!

We were looking for a place on the outskirts of the city, and when we arrived here, it seemed perfect. Maz, the host, welcomed us into her home where we were given a double room with a private entrance and everything from fluffy towels and toiletries to insect repellant and sunscreen. A dip in their pool to cool off after our long drive was great.||In the evening the chef at Coco Mojo, a local restaurant recommended by Maz, made us a delicious and bespoke vegan meal. When we thanked Maz for her recommendation and told her that they had recently had a break in she explained that there was a problem with the judiciary not locking these young people up and it wasn’t just the Aboriginal boys.||Breakfast began with a lovely display of fresh fruit, a choice of cereals, fruit juice and vegan cup cakes Maz had made especially for us. As Maz served us, she took the time to share some fascinating history, explaining that fruits in Australia weren't available until the arrival of white settlers. She even gave us a quick lesson on how to use cutlery.||Unexpectedly, Alan joined us for breakfast. We hadn’t planned for company, and there wasn’t really an option to avoid it. Alan was eager to share his story, giving us a detailed account of his life as a DJ, his membership in the Knights Templar - several times, his experience as a pilot, a skier of beyond black runs, etc and his admiration for Elon Musk. When we mentioned our own dislike of Musk, his response turned somewhat sharp, and it was clear that our differing opinions didn’t sit well with him.||Rating this is difficult—the room and facilities easily deserve 5 stars. Unfortunately the offensive remarks and prejudiced views made our stay extremely uncomfortable which brings the overall experience down to zero.

We had 3 nights at Alan & Mazs BnB for our finishing stay in the Cairns area. Totally the best BnB experience we have had in Australia. The accommodation room was very well setup and comfortable. The fruit selection breakfast was delicious and expanding of the taste senses The relaxing facilities were peaceful and refreshing. And the conversations and advice for day trips from Maz and Alan, spot on. A delightful, interesting and well catered for BnB, in easy travelling distance to the Cairns area tourist destinations.

Maz and Alan’s place is exactly as advertised, even better than the picture. We were so fortunate to stay at the tropical paradise over the weekend. They made us feel at home. We enjoyed the stories, and the most highly were the tropical breakfast, Maz put extra effort to add different varieties. I have tried something I never had in my life, they were so delicious. The B&B is so close to beach, you can just unpack and relax. Maz is so knowledgeable, she shared some local travel advice with us. We will be back again!

Spectacular slice of heaven! The property, attention to detail and curated experience by the inspiring and energetic host Maz is superb! Every little section of the space is perfect for relaxing and soaking in beauty plus delicious snacks and breakfast! House-made gluten free muffins, extraordinary local fruits *AND* house-made yogurt (with delicious coffee). We felt like we were the only people on the planet so well cared for. The neighborhood and community is spectacular. We didn’t want to leave! A million gratitudes for the gracious and thoughtful hospitality - the pool is heaven! Thank you so much!

This is a very traditional bnb and we absolutely loved every second of our stay. The room is lovely and clean. The house itself is very cozy and cute with a beautiful outdoor area to sit in and a pool that looked incredible. Our hosts are lovely and very accomodating. We were leaving very early and Maz still laid out a full brekky for us the night before. We would highly recommend this airbnb to anyone staying in Clifton beach and we will 100% be coming back in the future.
