Came here with my wife and my mother in law when I had the day off. I had seen this place about a month ago and thought it looked neat. The turtle soup sign caught my eye!
We arrived, and i was very glad and surprised to hear that my mother in law has always wanted to go to an old school diner like this one. And old school it is! It's like a time capsule in here, so cool!
We got the pesto and hummus appetizer, which was their special appetizer when we came. It was very good, you could tell the ingredients were fresh and well prepared, yum! For my entree I got the liverwurst and bacon sandwich, which was also a special. It sounded interesting and it was actually really good! I got a cup of the turtle soup. Not as good as NOLA turtle soup, but still good, especially on a gross-weather day like it was.
I had heard previously about Green River Soda and its cult following. I got that in it's phosphate form for my drink, and oh my goodness, wow! That flavor wakes you up and slaps harder than an angry girlfriend! I also got a cherry phosphate. Not as good as green river, but still good!
Finally we got some old fashioned creme pie. Sadly, it was disappointing. Not a lot of flavor to it unfortunately. But by all means I would return here! They do a great job keeping old school alive, and is possibly the last place in the area that does.
