We stayed at Southampton Inn with our two young children over Memorial Day weekend and were extremely happy with it. The location is perfect — easy walk to everything in town, including lots of restaurants and very close to the playground. A small grocery store across the street opens at 5 am, so no matter how early they woke up it was easy to get coffee and snacks. The grounds are very enclosed and have tables for eating and lounging, as well as games, so it was very convenient with kids and felt extremely safe for them. The hotel also provides lots of free conveniences, like an easy 5 minute transport to beach, along with towels, beach chairs and umbrellas. Finally, the staff was very friendly the whole time and greeted the kids with toys. We’ll definitely stay here again.

My Sorority Sisters and I were looking for a location to host our annual retreat and we consider ourselves lucky to find the Southampton Inn. The conference room we reserved was available early so we could set up for the day. I honestly don't have any complaints and I hope my chapter agrees to use this facility again. Everything included in the contract was delivered as promised. If we needed anything additional, (for example we requested condiments for our lunch) it was delivered right away. Jan was always there to assist us prior to the event and the day of. My only regret was not reserving the hotel room starting Friday night instead of Saturday. I could have saved myself an early morning drive. In regards to the location it is very serene and well kept. I just wish there were other restaurants that were walking distance. I believe the closest one is called Shippy's which we are going to try to visit the next time we stay. If you need space to host a meeting, I think the Southampton Inn is a great option and a great way to support local establishments.

Wonderful two nite weekday stay in June. Comfy updated rooms, quiet location and attention to details. Bigelow pharmacy bath products add a special touch. Lovely lawn area w an inviting pool, and smaller games area. Coming back again. Better than we remembered from our last stay in 2019 and we've heard the son has taken over. Good news.

What a great way to start a vacation at SouthHampton Inn with a greeting and excellent customer service from Damian Hannah and Mikela. It is very much appreciated to show care and concern for guests traveling from near and far to visit !!||Thx you all

Google
A wonderful accommodation in a convenient, central location - I’ve had great experiences across multiple stays.

The location of this hotel is great and it was clean, but it is VERY dated and a lot of money for the value. The website images combined with the cost of the room lead one to have different expectations than when you arrive. While I recognize “it’s the Hamptons in peak season” it was a lot of money for what you got. The hotel could use an upgrade if they are going to charge those rates. That said, the staff was incredibly nice and I hope that for the mark up on the rooms they are paying them well because they deserve it. Everyone was great there.

Beautiful boutique hotel in the heart of elegant Southampton. Lovely gardens. Great heated outdoor pool. Clean. Well kept. Perfect location and easy walk to nearby shops and restaurants. Excellent destination for small wedding or event. Cooper Beach nearby.

Just came back from a weekend stay. |Rooms are dated but clean. Every room is different , some larger than others… all have old bathrooms with tubs and GROSS shower curtains. Even the amenities in the room are lacking. |I would put this hotel on par with a Hampton Inn. Towels are cheap… linens cheap. |The front desk has college students who have not been trained in the hospitality industry. |For $700 a night, the level of service is lacking. Do not expect to check in before 4:00. They do not have staff that can turn rooms over quickly. During our stay, Our room was not cleaned before 1:00. |I have stayed here before but this time I see how run down this hotel has become. |Better to find a VRBO…

Yelp
This hotel slaps on a "resort fee" which probably makes sense in the summer. Off season, sorry but this is just a money grab. When I asked what the fee included since there it off seaaon (mid-April) and unseasonably cold, I was told it covered wifi, free parking... yes you heard that right. I noted that the free parking wasn't free then. And I didn't need the free wifi I had my own. The room itself was clean but tiny. The mattresses were hard and not that comfortable. You can check in at 4pm and have to check out by 11. For off season and no amenities I would not recommend it.

Yelp
Went to the East End for a staycation away from home for a night, and my girlfriend and I picked The Southampton Inn to stay at, great price and close to where we wanted to be. Check in was easy, no issues at all and we were able to check in much earlier than alotted, and we got a room in the back area by the tennis courts, had plenty of parking and able to get back there no problem. The room was nice, standard size, the King Size bed was amazing, super comfy to sleep on, and the water pressure was great, heated up quick as well. It snowed overnight and the staff shoveled us out and made access to our car very easy, so that was nice. Decent stay, nice place, 4 stars, would recommend for an overnight or short weekend stay!

Yelp
I believe this hotel is normally $450 a night. But due to plummeting hotel rates because of the pandemic, this hotel rents for $150 a night now. I really feel like this place is all about the small touches. Mineral baths, closets that air out, extra pillows and blankets for the cozy types like me, and a TV that is NOT wall-mounted so us millennials can bring our Amazon fire stick to watch our shows. Southampton is all about shopping and spending on food, But it isnt particularly impressive to me regarding their food selection. Still, I enjoyed my getaway. Walls can be a little thin in this hotel, so I changed rooms so that I wouldn't have any neighbors.

Yelp
Clean and cozy. Nice surroundings and restaurant was adequate. Your wish was their command.

Yelp
The best location in Southampton Village. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Claude's brunch menu is delicious. The hotel offers convenient amenities like a heated pool and tennis/pickle ball court. Family and pet friendly, but still great for couples and singles.

Frederick H.

Yelp
Very unique hotel. Great location. Not luxurious, not a Motel Six, simply well groomed. Very good restaurant fare, service and friendliness. Poor WiFi and some rooms have sound issues. Very good value for Southampton.

Yelp
I didn't stay or eat here, but they hosted a Valentine's Day scavenger hunt across Main Street on Southampton which was the cutest historic tour. We had to find the big hearts with historical facts about the town on them, and it was a great reason to shop a little. 5 stars!!!

Bob D.

Yelp
a kind of time capsule of an inn in the 70s. Rooms are clean. walls are thin. grounds are tidy. restaurant food ok. service not so much. location kicks it up to 4****..

Neil B.

Yelp
The location of the Southampton Inn is very convenient for walking to town and they have a shuttle to the beach which we did not use because we were in town for a wedding, but is an added plus. As others have noted, the Inn, while well kept up, is more of an upscale motel. The rooms are not soundproofed, so you are sometimes able to hear what your neighbors are doing. :-) The beds were comfortable and while a bit dated, the rooms are spacious. Everyone working there whom we encountered was friendly and helpful. They have a nice pool and with a reasonably priced onsite restaurant, but a shuttle service to the Jitney and train for confirmed guests would be a nice thing to add. There is a 2-night minimum, so be prepared to shell out over a grand if staying over during a weekend!

Yelp
This is a review for their restaurant only -- Southampton inn restaurant has delicious food at a reasonable price for the Hamptons. I actually came here for a promotional event for a fitness app but I ordered lunch at the hotel and I don't regret it! I got the "not so humble hamburger" which comes with applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, and three ingredients of your choice. I chose a fried egg, guacamole, and sautéed onions and my burger came out excellent. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare exactly as I asked. The guacamole was classic, well seasoned, and complimented the burger nicely. It was also a big burger (maybe around 10oz) and I was perfectly full afterward. The burger came with thick cut, well seasoned fries that were just to my liking. My friend got the veggie sandwich with the corn salsa as a side. It came jam-packed with fresh-grilled veggies including zucchini, summer squash, tomatoes, and eggplant. It's also slathered in a delicious garlic herb aioli that really ties the dish together. The corn salsa was crisp, sweet, and light; a perfect accompaniment to this sandwich.

Yelp
Dede you're a mess. My BFF won a silent auction for a dinner for 2 at Klyde's restaurant/Cafe Klyde's up to $120. When he called to confirm what time they opened for dinner the front desk of the hotel (no one picked up in the restaurant) told him they were not open for dinner. My BFF, very confused, decided to call back and speak to someone in the restaurant and someone told him they closed at 4 (!!). What the heck. Dinner for 2 but no dinner service? He called back again to triple check and spoke to Dede the manager/owner who's signature was on the darn voucher. She said she didn't even remember signing a voucher for a charity auction but told him to come on in for dinner anyway and they closed at 8. My BFF, his partner and I decide to play it safe and head on over for lunch before 4pm if indeed they did close at 4. The voucher said it was for food up to $120 and did not include drinks, tax or gratuity. No problem. Our server was super nice and as helpful as he could be! We asked him if they were open for dinner and explained our confusion. He explained that they use to be open until 10 but now close at 8 and only serve "small bites" i.e. Salad, sandwiches, burgers, etc. Understood. We ordered an appetizer, salad, 3 lobster rolls (lower than average, do not order) and three drinks. Service was swift and the food all came out at once. Our bill came out to $110 with tax and we tipped our server based on $110 (please tip your wait staff people!!!). We submitted our voucher and he took it. He came back with our receipt and it showed a balance of $56.77. What the heck! Our server explained that the voucher clearly stated it was for dinner up to $120 for 2 people and we were 3. We kindly responded that yes it was for DINNER for 2 but since there is no DINNER service we used it for lunch. Who can spend $120 on lunch service at a cafe?!? I mean, are we splitting hairs here? He asked if we wanted to speak to the manager and we said yes please. No manager ever came. Our server came back out and said she took the amount off minus our tax and drinks, we said no problem! We paid our $28.33 to the penny and left. Never again.

Yelp
We had reservations at the Southampton Inn for Sunday night through Thursday, 5 nights, celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary. We missed Sunday because of hurricane Henri and were told that no refund would be made but that a credit would be provided against amenities. Having no choice, we agreed. The room we were put in had a very noisy wall AC unit which we put up with but the next morning we were awakened to a loud noise and continuous roaring throughout the day which as it turned out was a huge AC unit for the basement restaurant mounted under our front window. The noise was so loud that we requested a room change. No help was offered for moving and the cleaning staff actually told us to hurry up as they were going to be leaving. Considering we are seniors, that was a bit off-putting. The new room was much better but the door didn't fit the frame and couldn't be easily opened, especially from the inside. My wife actually couldn't get the door open by herself. The hotel manager came to the room for a different issue, also had trouble getting the door open but never did or said anything about it. No WIFI because of the storm and the cable went completely out the second night. And, one of the reasons we went there was the in-house restaurant since we had a dog and eating out with one can be problematic. We were informed by the restaurant staff, not the hotel, that for the season the restaurant was not open for dinner due to lack of help. This "Inn" is showing it's age, the above problems, cement crumbling, sidewalks uneven, bushes very much overgrown. The in-room refrigerator in the first room didn't work and had to be replaced. The original room had large gaps around the door where it was missing weather-stripping. I sure wouldn't want to be there in the winter. We finally gave it up as a bad job and left to go home on Wednesday, having stayed only 2 of the 5 nights. Originally we paid a substantial down payment on our credit card and to our surprise were charged additional "deposits" on our card without asking though they did email us after the fact. A refund of the two nights we didn't stay was made so at least we had that. I could not ever recommend staying at the Southampton Inn which was billed as the second best hotel in Southampton.

Yelp
Great experience. Staff and resident cat are pretty amazing. Good food and drinks by the pool. Easily able to social distance. Complimentary coffee at Claude's. Heated pool. Bartender Jared was awesome. My best friend and I shared the lobster roll for lunch and it was really good. Great quickie getaway with girlfriends. There's a shuttle to the beach and beach cruisers you can rent. So many restaurants in walking distance. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
It our quit place when we want to run away with our pup. Rooms are comfortable and the facility and grounds are amazing. Friendly helpful staff.

Yelp
I definitely didn't have the terrible experience here the other Yelpers did, but it didn't blow me away either. There was some good points and some things I would have appreciated if they were a smidgen more accommodating. As my Christmas gift, my fiancé gave me a weekend in the Hamptons, with accommodations for two nights at the South Hampton Inn. He purchased a gift certificate from them and they mailed it. So know, that they 1) sell gift certificates and 2) will mail it. He booked the July weekend shortly after and that is the time you need to book these places. They can and do sell out. This place is crazy expensive for what it is $500/night plus taxes and fees. Although, it is par for the course out East. What do you expect to pay? But you're not getting lavish accommodations. It's essential a well kept motel, I'm not sure I saw an elevator. It was pretty clean and we honestly only used it to sleep, so it met our needs, $1100 later on Sunday afternoon. While we were there, this hotel was quiet, despite a bachelorette party going on. The main great thing is they have a free shuttle to the beach. Otherwise, beach parking is $40. It's also walking distance to the town, but it's a 15 minute walk. Nothing for NYC residents but some may complain about that. They also have free parking, as most non-urban hotels do. I would have liked at least morning coffee in the lobby. The price here is nuts, they should put out free coffee in the lobby. The linens are paper thin. The room was fine, but not big or modern. I appreciated that there was a fridge in the room. Since there are not an abundance of hotels in South Hampton, compounded with the overall Hamptons luxury, they can and will charge what ever they want. So don't expect a bargain but it's not a terrible experience.

Yelp
Stayed here for 2 nights and loved it!!! John & Nick made us feel so comfortable, I didn't want to check out. Lol. Make sure you say hello to Gasper the friendly cat!!You can walk right into town and there's great restaurants in the area! Will definitely be back in the summer!

C L.

Yelp
Perfect stay in the off season. We were here for two nights and very happy. The king bedroom was nice and spacious. Request the top floor if you can - noise wasn't really an issue at all (but were city slickers / used to it) our neighbors underneath us had an epic brawl during the day which was more entertaining than a noise issue, for us. We didn't dine at Claude but would like to try when we come back in August. I imagine the staying experience is much different during prime summer season, but if you're looking for a comfy, no frills, simple and clean stay in a perfect location during the off season, this is your spot. We'll be back!

Crystal P.

Yelp
I hadn't been here since I was a kid basically so I've been wanting to come back forever. I love how it's so close to the town and it's a nice place. This was the perfect place for us to come and bring our baby on his first little vacation for the night. Of course weather coulda been nicer but that has nothing to do with this place lol. Our bed was very comfortable, checkin was easy, perfect walking distance to stroll around town. Honestly compared to our stay last year at somewhere much more expensive, we liked this place better. We will definitely be back in the future and anyone looking to stay in the hamptons I'd definitely recommend this place over others! There's also a restaurant we sadly didn't check out but next time I'm sure we will.

Christin S.

Yelp
I stayed recently at the Southampton Inn. I had requested a room on the back side of the hotel because I was hoping to be able to sleep late and that is the quieter side of the hotel. When I checked in and went to my room they had put me next to a room with a barking dog. They kindly moved me. I went back to the desk and I requested the quietest room possible. He gave me a room further down the way. The following morning there were construction noises that started at 8:30 am. They are building townhomes behind the hotel. Nobody told me this at check in and it was not on the website. I made a complaint at the front desk. And I was told that the desk manager would call me back. I never heard back from them. Doesn't look like construction will be done anytime soon. So beware.

Brendan T.

Yelp
Ok, so to be fair although I have stayed here on numerous occasions, all of them have been when my bill is being picked up by my employer. Had I been shelling out 300+ of my own hard earned dollars to stay here, I probably would have given the place 2 stars at best. The extra star and relative positive feeling I have about the place are primarily due to the location, it's right in town and makes it easy to walk out for dinner, or even to the beach, Publick House or train station. Shuttle to the beach is cool, although I have never tried it. Also the rooms are clean, fairly tastefully and modernly designed and feature comfortable beds. Pleasant back courtyard area. On the downside the staff, who were competent and reasonably friendly on my most recent visit, I had found to be slightly rude on previous stays. The high price point should certainly warrant some more frills. The in room Wifi has been very spotty on every occasion I have stayed here, which was particularly irritating to me as a business traveler, which I think many of the other guests, particularly in the off season, often are. The lack of any type of gym facility isn't helped much by the offer to get a meagerly discounted rate of $25 a day offered for a gym down the block. Nevertheless, this is always my go to spot I request when I am sent to Southampton.

Rob V.

Yelp
We really loved our stay at the Southampton Inn. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cant wait to go back.

K. M.

Yelp
Very, very clean. Awesome location. The best deal to stay at in Southampton- cozy, clean rooms.

Maullika D.

Yelp
My fiancé and I had a wonderful experience this past weekend at the inn. The staff was welcoming, friendly and professional. Lots to do nearby, and very convenient from the train station. We will be back very soon!

Amanda B.

Yelp
I'll preface this by sharing that we visited the Southhampton Inn during the super off season (February for Valentine's Day). We had the most fantastic visit and I'm bummed to see others that have visited have not had positive experiences. We had a cute ground level room that was decorated in a very thoughtful style. It snowed while we were here and we loved watching the snow pile up outside our window...it was pretty magical! The staff was prompt to shovel and salt all of the walkways and parking lots throughout our stay. Parking was plentiful and everyone seemed to park right outside their door. The hotel also provided a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolates for us in the room which we thought was a nice touch. It's dog friendly which is always a mega perk for us! We were a short walk away from downtown Southhampton and walked back and forth many times during our visit there to check out the shops and restaurants. Perfect location for exploring everything this area has to offer and not to ever need your car. We didn't spend much time in the common areas but the main lobby looked cozy with fireplaces and had some board games that would be fun with a group. I imagine the entire inn (pool, restaurant, etc) hustles and bustles all summer but we didn't mind the quiet nature of the off season. We also tried the restaurant across the street...the Plaza Cafe...and boy was this a treat! They had a special lobster themed five course menu for Valentine's Day and it was spectacular. Definitely check this place out if you're nearby! All in all, we loved our experience here. Sure it was a little on the pricier side, but we found the quality to be good and worth it for our first visit to the Hamptons. It's not a fancy hotel by any stretch (essentially two stories and set up more of a motel style with either ground floor entrances or key carded stairwells to access second floor rooms) but we found everything to be to our liking and the area and inn to be both beautiful and safe. Hoping to go back this winter!

Paul N.

Yelp
We have been staying here every few months for a night or two and I always enjoy it. It's a little expensive in summer but that's the Hamptons. Off season it's a great deal and nice place. It really is like an old fashioned motor lodge that has been updated and it's really nice. My only complaint is why there is no coffee in the lobby area that really should be addressed

Tara G.

Yelp
Great hotel, super accommodating clean and updated. I've stayed multiple times and they've always given the best service. Great location, clean rooms and even switched the price to incorporate the promo they had going on even after we booked. Can not recommend this place more!

Danielle A.

Yelp
We stayed here for 5 days last summer and we just booked it again for this summer...we look forward ward to more beautiful memories! The pool, grounds, lobby area, & restaurant were lovely, as was our room! It was so peaceful. The shuttle service to the beach was so helpful to us....we loved Cooper's beach, and we loved walking from the inn into town! Thank you Southampton Inn, we look forward to coming back!

Alan R.

Yelp
Pricey and don't expect a lot for it... Ok it's the only place in East Hampton to stay .. Save yourself, don't eat here... Checkout Tate's bakery.. Oh my God you will thank me!!!

Valerie C.

Yelp
Husband made reservations for Valentine's Day. Was woken up by a barking dog and two young children asking their mom where the adjoining door to our room went while trying to open it. WHY would you put a couple staying overnight for Valentine's day next to a family with a dog with an adjoining door? After listening to the kids argue about who was going down to breakfast with dad, the parents started arguing. Lovey way to wake up, we could have stayed home with our kids and dog. The morning was neither relaxing or romantic. Waste of money and gas.

Yelp
We've been coming to this hotel for over ten years, when this was still a lovely inn. This was not the case recently, when we decided to stay in for a couple of days , during a recent quarantine period. The prices were absolutely ridiculous, $400 plus tax, during a time, when everyone is offering specials and excellent accommodation. I asked for a specific room that we always stayed in and at the time of reservation, Rick( the receptionist kid, who is barely 14 years old) told us that the room was available, I also asked specifically to note this on the reservation, as we have done this for years. Upon arrival, we were greeted by 12 men in worker's clothes , who were playing loud music at the second entrance towards the rooms , while drinking beers out of a box, ( not the type of greeting one expects at a hotel in the Hamptons). We were not given the room we requested and the substitute was ghastly, didn't look like the interior of the other rooms and smelled of mold and dog's piss. I am not exaggerating , as they allow pets in certain rooms for $49 per pet extra ( a lovely thing if you do have a pet) but not when you arrive with family. When I complained , they tried to show us another room, that was even worse and smelled of mold too. It looked dingy and probably wasn't cleaned for many months, as there was acrid dust everywhere. I asked for a room next to the one we requested that wasn't booked. They refused to give to us, as they said, the staff was working there, which I believe to be a lie, since the room looked ready to be booked. We decided to leave and asked for a refund, which they refused. After being so rude, we didn't feel , we should stay at this place or ever return again. The other, female receptionist, Z had a superior attitude , was rude and spoke to me in a street- like, threatening manner, as she repeatedly pointed out that our interaction was being recorded by a camera, to which I replied , I was happy to learn that that was the case, as she continued to be loud and abusive. I got to the point that I had to call my lawyer, as they decidedly did not want to issue a refund and were not letting me speak to the owner of the hotel. After my lawyer gave them a call , they issued a refund for $911.00, minus $25,for the atrocity they put us through. We will never, ever return to this place! There are plenty of lovely and accommodating places, with better prices and lovely staff ,all over the Hamptons. Spear yourselves a lot of headache and steer clear of this place! Yelp
This hotel was so bad it has forced me to make a yelp account and write a review!!!! When the TWO of us arrived to the hotel excited to see our room and start the weekend, we were told by Moria at the front desk that only ONE of our THREE rooms were ready! "Excuse me?" I said. "i'm sorry mam but their has obviously been a mistake. why would I book THREE rooms for my fiancee and I?" Listen, mistakes happen, this isn't the issue. When I explained that this is an obvious mistake and I do not want the keys to THREE ROOMS, the women working at the desk Moria, whom was not the manager or had any title whatsoever became shockingly rude in a manner that no hotel I've ever been to would have dreamed of speaking to a guest. *My fiancee actually video taped this!!!!!!! I'll be posting it on as many reviews as possible!!* When I insisted to speak with a manger I was told he was not in but would be at the desk later that afternoon. OK. Now to the room. The room was clean and the decor was charming. Just don't turn the A/C on or the room will reek of vomit!!!! When I went back that afternoon to see the manager. He was still not there. It wasn't until 3 days later he called me to me see me to address the issue. Thankfully he understood they had made a mistake and that they had never even sent me a confirmation email for my room! Pool. If you like to wake up early and go for a swim before a beautiful day in the Hamptons. Dont count on it. Pool doesn't open until 12pm!!!!! Finally DONT RENT A BIKE 20$ an hour for the bike. Whatever, Hamptons are expensive. But the least they could do would be to have some bikes that work! The chain on my bike broke 10 minutes into our ride. When I brought it back and asked for a new bike or my money back.....what do you think the answer was?? NO! actually they tried to charge me for the bike!!!!! I hope this helps people understand how this place conducts business. I booked my room despite all the warnings yelp gave me!!!! DONT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS I DID!!!!

Emily C.

Yelp
This hotel was nice enough, rooms were cute and no complaints on the amenities. I was actually wondering how this place had such a low rating. The woman working the desk wasn't the friendliest but nothing extreme.. and then I left and I realized I was charged twice for my one room. Despite sending several emails and calling I have not received confirmation that I will be refunded. We are talking hundreds of dollars, not small change.. I will follow up if I ever get refunded.

Graig M.

Yelp
Poor, thin toilet paper even by hotel standards. Not super friendly when checking in, getting my roomkey fixed after demagnetizing, or checking out. Seemed like everything was boarded up for some sort of renovations. "Continental breakfast" was like a college apartments bare cupboard. The cat in the lobby seemed nice though. Location is the saving grace here.

Todd P.

Yelp
I was thrilled to find a dog-friendly hotel while house hunting in the Hamptons. Southampton Inn is well-maintained. The common areas are sprayed with artificial, phenolic smelling scents. Smells like a bad botanical garden, but I could totally overlook this. Look, the hotel markets itself as dog-friendly. It definitely is not. During my stay it snowed less than 2". The hotel has dumped chemical ice melt on the sidewalks (ok I can deal) but also right in front of my room. I've complained (ok yelled) that this BURNS the dogs' feet. I can't even walk them outside the room without having the paws on my 2 dogs feet curl under in pain. Yet they dump more ice melt. I've spent about $1,000 on 4 nights here. I will not stay here again. A dog friendly hotel needs to understand dogs. 2 paws down on the "dog friendly" Southampton Inn.

Kristen W.

Yelp
Classic you get what you pay for. That being said, it's a clean simple place to crash in a prime downtown location. Beds were extremely comfortable. Not completely surprised with the shockingly bad reviews when you take into consideration the clientele. 1. it's in the Hamptons and close to downtown and the beach. 2. It's clean and comfortable 3. It's not a 5 star hotel, if you want a 5 star hotel then book one 4. If you can't afford a beach house or a 5 star hotel don't complain about the only modest and semi-cheap accommodation around.

Jake W.

Yelp
We were given an awful tiny room that smelled of toxic chemicals. At any other hotel this would not of even been a room but perhaps a storage area. The windows were covered by plantings so you could not even see out. We found many bugs in the room as well. For the weekend they were charging almost $500. for a room that anywhere else but the Hamptons would be $60. The property itself and the grounds looked decent but overall a miserable experience at the Southampton Inn.

Yelp
DO NOT BOOK HERE! I made a reservation early for a busy weekend in July, was told by the supervisor when I booked that the cancellation policy was $50 per room for up to 2 weeks prior to the reservation. I had to cancel, so I call and am told that it is $50 per room PER NIGHT. I get bounced around from person to person, promised a call back for a few days, and nothing. In the end, I had to pay $600 to cancel my rooms, which was definitely not what I was told. Apparently from reading the other reviews on here their management is a but sub-par.

Yelp
Went out east for a wedding in mid July and thus stayed here for a night. Luckily, they were only available for Sat night so we avoided the 2 night min they normally have. Paid $450 which was a total rip-off. It was nothing more than a motel-like inn though they say they are a full service resort. The website is awfully deceiving. The pool was tiny and dirty. Walls were super thin; if you're on the ground floor and there are folks above you, it feels like an earthquake when they are simply walking down the stairs. We also found a bug on the bed and the water pressure was so low in the shower... If you may be thirsty or hungry late at night, make sure you load up as nothing is open in the later hours in the hotel or in the vicinity. I still laugh at the whole "is there a late night bites menu?" response of the staff. The only good about this place is the free shuttle to the beach and the walking distance to the main street. That being said, I'm not a fan of the Hamptons. Likely my first and last time there so perhaps I'm being harsh when I say I expect more for the buck. To be far, I was warned that this place is a total dump so I had low expectations which were met.

Yelp
This hotel sucks for $300 a night. We only stayed one-night, even with the 2-night minimum. No bar, no place to hang out other than your room. Which is not any nicer than a "real" Hampton Inn. They tried to charge me $10 to log onto the internet to change my plane reservation but I got it waived. No, not to access wi-fi, but to log on to the computer in the lobby. How lame is that?

Yelp
I'm torn on how many stars to give this place right now! My boyfriend & I were here for an event in late October. Sad to say, I was not THAT impressed with the room we stayed in. It was a first floor king room close to the lobby area. On the good side (?) / on the bad side: *The room was clean for the most part. When we went to use the ice bucket, we noticed the inside of the cover was smeared with dirt? I had to rinse it as best I could in the bathroom sink! Pretty gross!! *My boyfriend & I were split on the bed. I, for the most part, really liked the mattress. He woke up on the 2nd day with a terrible back ache! I definitely found it to be a luxury mattress compared to let's say a Super 8 or Econo lodge! For me the bed was comfy & there were extra pillows which always is a plus. I think the sheets could've been softer though. The headboard NOT the best. The bed was lined with this wooden-styled headboard that when we went to walk around it, we found ourselves walking right into the pointy part of it. I had bruises by the time I got home so just be careful! *There was a "mini" fridge located in the closet. And I do mean "mini". The fridge kept our drinks on the coolish side at best. *Heat/fan worked very well. *TV/cable all good but warning -The TV in our room was located on the dresser which was quite a distance from the bed. If you wear glasses for distance, make sure you have them handy! Or better yet, bring binoculars!! *The bedside tables appeared to be semi-new but the bedside lamps appeared to be on their last leg. The lamps were wobbly & I'm not sure what was up with the bulbs. I had to turn 2 times to get the light on. Three times got you same amount of light. Probably a 3 way lamp with semi burnt bulbs that no one bothered to change... *Strange layout... I liked that there was a love seat but it was right next to the dresser/TV so you could not sit on it & watch TV (?) *Walls/floors are a little thin. We had a loud, noisy, obnoxious (drunk) lady directly upstairs from us who was first carrying on for a while right outside the window & then moved the party upstairs. Ugh!! Also, we could hear the creaky footsteps thru the ceiling. Maybe bring along some earplugs. Summer months may be worse! *Landscapers or something outside the window making a big racket on Saturday morning around 7:30 AM (when we're trying to sleep in)... WTF? Really??!!! Now on to the bathroom ........ The bathroom was clean, on the plus side, but there were several things that were wrong, in my opinion: *No vent! *The toilet paper holder might take your arm out of the socket it is set back so far! *Ecosoft toilet paper is NOT so soft... *Shower had very little water pressure. Luckily I shampooed before I left home. *Toilet had very little flushing pressure :-o The front desk staff were all very nice at least! A coupe from our event complained of having an ant problem in their room & front desk was apologetic & offered to move them to another room. Being that we were there off season & only for 2 nights made the stay tolerable. Not sure I would stay here for an extended stay but it did serve it's purpose. All I can say is give it a try & see what you think. Maybe you'll have better luck...

Yelp
This place is awful but it's always busy due to the lack of options in the area. Most of the rooms are basically in the parking lot. Although you're in Southampton, you feel like you're in a roadway inn on a highway in upstate NY. The staff was very unfriendly and not accommodating - almost like they knew they didn't have to try because there's nowhere else to go. Carpets had weird stains and the so called temperpedic bed gave my girlfriend and I a stiff neck for days. The pool area was overrun with small children.

Yelp
While the room was clean, it was pretty old. (moldy calking around the tub, things like that) The grounds were fairly well kept, but nothing to write home about condsidering the price and location. What we found unbelievably bad was the restaurant service. It was as if they went out on the street and hired children who have not only NEVER waited on people in a restaurant, but did not seem to have ever stepped foot in a restaurant themselves. Completely clueless as to the fact that one might need butter and syrup to go with their pancakes BEFORE they get cold...or a spoon with which to eat one's cereal or perhaps a second cup of coffee. I could go on but I fear you'll stop reading...Bottom line, this place was VERY mediocre for the cost.

Yelp
For one, the hotel appears to have changed its ownership, and management (we have no idea if this was related to this meme, and we highly doubt it). The hotel in beautiful town of Southampton, BUT.... Front deck proves that we, as hotel customers, are helpless in situations and if we need help., If you have a true, honest complaint about a hotel there are places you can go, and things you can do..this people will not help. Stay away.

Yelp
When someone else is footing the bill everything tastes, looks, almost seems better. Same might apply for the Southampton Inn. First I encountered the front desk. Staff was super friendly and helpful. The "problem" is the hotel itself. Don't get me wrong it's a nice little place, it just needs to be updated from 1989. The furniture, bed coverings, etc. are all sorely out of date. But on the upside- there's a nice pool, lawns with chairs for meeting up with friends. Stroll around the corner and pick up some wine to enjoy back at the pool tables- there is no bar here. Breakfast in the dining room in the morning was fine. Noting bad, nothing outstanding. It is also located in a quiet spot and totally within walking distance of everything you might need.

Yelp
I've been going here for a while over a ten year span if not more. I'm not sure lately but it's really hit a down hill. This place use to be quality. The place is located in a good spot if you are looking to stay close to the town and be by the night life, but there is not much night life around south Hampton because everything closes at 7. Cafe oso closes at 7PM, which is decent at most for small meals. The pool that was re-did and moved is now much smaller and they have a growing yard near the back, not sure what the purpose of that is. We had a room that had an old A/C on a 5 night stay, we had to leave a day early because the A/C was not getting fixed as much as we went to the front desk, no one was ever available to fix it.. If you need to book here, try to book a 2nd floor room because you can hear the noise between the floor. The hotel is close to Coopers which is great. Coopers is one of the best beaches world wide. Staff could be more attentive, but hey you can wish for it all. Free wifi: freeuser / freepass

Yelp
Staying at the Southampton Inn was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Before I continue I would like to say that the hotel itself it's very nice. The rooms are large, it is walking distance to town with cute restaurants and shops, also close to the beach. My boyfriend and I went up New Year's Day and brought our dog along since the hotel is pet friendly. Our problem is not with the hotel itself but with the staff.. Moira in particular. I have never met someone so rude and insensitive in my life, and I work in customer service! When we returned from dinner our key to the room wasn't working and we couldn't hear our dog in the room. We were gone no more than two hours. When we went to the front desk obviously very concerned Moira basically yelled at us and treated us like we were criminals. Our dog was able to get out of the room and open the door with her paws, something she has never done before. Moira accused us of leaving our dog out in the open and didn't believe us that a dog could get out of the room. We would obviously never leave a dog outside unattended. She is a boxer and uses her paws a lot. Moira even had the audacity to tell me I should have my dog spayed because she was currently in heat and on her period. She had absolutely no right to say that to me. She had our dog taken away and would not tell us where she was. That dog is my boyfriends life and she would not tell us where she was. After 15 minutes of us trying to stay calm she finally gave us a number to the animal shelter and said that we would not get her back tonight. We asked why no one tried to contact us while we were out and was told that they don't have our information on file since we booked thru a third party.. Maybe something that should be improved in case of emergencies like this one. I was so upset, crying and hyperventilating worrying about where my dog was and Moira smugly told my boyfriend she can call an ambulance if he would like. Obviously I didn't need medical help I was just worried about the dog. I could keep going but I won't.. I will say that we were thankful that they were able to bring our dog to safety but the whole situation could have been handled differently. I have never been so disrespected. Luckily we were able to pick our dog up in the morning and also had to pay $100 at the shelter. Moira made our experience at Southampton Inn the worst and this is not the only complaint about her on this website. I will never stay at Southampton Inn or recommend this place as long as she is employed there.

Yelp
How this place is still in business, I just don't understand. I was here this weekend, for a bachelorette party, and from the moment we stepped in to the moment we left this place was just atrocious. Let's start with check in. We arrived early, around noon, we walked in and spoke to Suzanne, at the front desk. She told us that our rooms were not ready (which we knew wouldn't be, it was really early), but to leave our cell and she would call us if and when they were done, and if we didn't hear from her to just come back at 4 for check in. Totally fine, we decided to go downstairs to the restaurant and grab some lunch. She allowed us to keep out perishable items (water, snacks, etc that we brought from home) in the office so they didn't go bad in our hot car. Suzanne was the only pleasant experience we had this whole trip. At 4pm, after a super long and drawn out lunch at Oso and a few hours in the pool where getting a drink took 30 minutes, not due to customers, but due to lack of experience and organization on the servers part, we headed upstairs to finally check in. We went to the front desk, they handed us two room keys and told us that our third room was not ready. We sent the first half of our party to the two rooms and patiently waited for our third room. 5, 10, 15, 20 minutes went by, and still the room was not ready. We informed them that we had reservations for 530 and that our taxi would be picking us up at 5. The girl at the desk, said "I don't know what to tell you" and "housekeeping is not done yet", well, that is unacceptable. After arguing with the girl for a good 5 minutes and her telling me over and over she didn't know what to tell me, I told her to find the manager and maybe he had something to tell me! Well, Justin, he was just as bad! We told him that it was unacceptable that a half hour after our said check in time our room was still unavailable. He said there's nothing he can do about it and that it would be ready soon, and my favorite line of his "I don't know what to tell you" well, that is ridiculous!! First of all you are a MANGER, act like one, get to the bottom of the situation and handle it. I asked him if I checked out a Half hour late would that be acceptable, and he didn't know what to say, or if I paid $30 less than the astronomical price i did pay would that be ok! Not once did he sympathize with our group. We told him we have reservations and he basically didn't care. The whole situation was just not handle well. He then offered is a $20 voucher to use at Oso downstairs. So let me get this straight. The twelve of us, have three rooms reserved, for two nights in July no less, spending about $2000 on rooms alone, now you make a mistake and you give us a voucher for $20, for 12 people, where we have to spend even more money at your god forsaken establishment, is this real life!? Needless to say, this manager needs a few lessons on how to "manage". One of the rooms, we found a bug in the bed sheets, two of the rooms had flies flying around, the ac unit in one of our rooms wasn't working, and that's just to name a few things. The workers, well, the inn should really consider putting in a break room and a break area in or around the premise for its employees. On numerous occasions we saw employees taking their "cigarette" breaks the lawns, right outside our guest rooms. Hey, to each his own, you want to smoke, that's fine, but please don't do it right outside of our room door/window!!! This place could really use a cleaning and some managerial skills! I do want to mention Cedric, the beach shuttle drive! What a sweetheart! So down to earth, so polite and so helpful!! Some of the other employees could learn a thing or two from him. Judging by the rest of these reviews the inn should really reevaluate the business plan. Just sayin... Please save yourself the hassle and do not book here!

Yelp
Beautiful! Extremely clean! Staff so friendly and INCREDIBLE with our pup!!! Nicest dog friendly place we have ever stayed at! Just beautiful! Front desk so helpful and sweet. Bed superrrrrrrr comfortable!!!! Beautiful fireplace in lobby. They also decorate beautifully for the holidays.

Yelp
When you think of terrible customer service, this place is the perfect example. Be careful when booking a reservation, they charge $50/night per room even if you cancel your reservation 2 months in advance. For owners / operators that have clearly made a good living off of the tourists they service, they really don't like them and you can tell they probably have a "hall of shame" in the back office to roast their guests. When you charge $500/night you should offer service in-line with 5-star establishments, instead of making your guests feel like you're doing them a favor for allowing them to stay there. If you want to feel like you've done something wrong the entire time, then this is the place for you. And if you're looking for service with a smile and the "extra mile"...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!

Yelp
This was the worst experience of my entire life. Let me preface this review with these two statements: I am NOT a picky person and personally my favorite statement... LISTEN TO THE OTHER REVIEWS AND ABSOLUTELY UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES STAY HERE AND HELP KEEP THIS BUSINESS OPEN!!! THIS IS A PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!! (if it was possible I would give this place -1938964274983785836472 stars) On Southampton Inn's website they make this place seem fairly decent and upon looking at their pictures and descriptions I was excited to stay here. It seemed really cute. Oh, how pictures are deceiving. I don't want to write a million paragraphs telling you how bad this place was because it isn't worth my time. The only reason I'm writing this is to save someone's vacation by them knowing not to come here. I booked a room here because as we all know, the Hamptons are VERY expensive. This place had a deal that was decently priced and so I figured, why not? What made my trip so bad? Just some of the MANY, MANY things 1. The management and stuff are so rude and unpleasant. They make you feel like you don't belong and they are so unhelpful. They frown and act like you are causing them great pains even if you are just asking them where the bathroom is. On one occasion, a staff member laughed at my family and me. 2. The rooms are so filthy and disgusting that I had to go out and buy Lysol wipes to disinfect all of the surfaces. As soon as we checked into our room my family and I immediately had problems. We must have phoned the front desk 100 times during our stay to request new linens and blankets WITHOUT STAINS. We made our complaints very clear so that the front desk could learn to actually wash the bed spreads and blankets and pillowcases. However, I think we made our complaints a little bit TOO clear. After coming in one night after a day of browsing through stores and visiting many bakeries and eateries, I took a shower, which required me wearing shoes because it was that disgusting and dirty, I cautiously laid down in the pullout bed. I pulled the covers down and lo and behold, two huge piles of sand were sitting in the middle of the bed. First of all, my family and I did not even go the beach our whole vacation. Second of all, if the sheets were just dirty in the first place and they happened to reuse the old sheets from someone else, then the sand would have been scattered around. It wasn't, thus leaving me to conclude that the cleaners DID in fact place two piles of sand in the bed because my family and I called too much to request new linens. They wanted payback and so they put sand in our bed. That goes to show you the kind of people that work at the Southampton Inn. 3. Our bed broke multiple times. As soon as my brother laid on the bed, the wooden slides that support the mattress broke and the bed, INCLUDING MY BROTHER, collapsed to the ground. Thank goodness my brother is young and healthy, but what if someone with back problems or other health issues laid on the bed and happened to lay in the bed and fall on the broken wood? I'll tell you- that person would be sent immediately to the hospital and Southampton Inn would be facing a lawsuit. So basically, my family and I left our vacation five days early because this place completely ruined it for us. We were supposed to be staying in Montauk for the last three days but cancelled since we left early. We lost all of our money for the five days and we were really upset about that but it was better than staying at the Southampton Inn. THIS PLACE HAS SEVERAL SERIOUS HEALTH VIOLATIONS AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO STAY IN BUSINESS. IT'S DIRTY, GROSS, AND NOTHING, I REPEAT NOTHING, IS SOMEWHAT DECENT. PLEASE DO NOT COME HERE AND RISK YOUR HEALTH AND SANITY!
