A lovely and clean hostel in a very lovely street in an otherwise rather boring city. Really, the hostel is large and beautiful, the receptionist (owner?) was very kind and showed me around, the other guests were nice for the most part. The only thing I'll never understand is why so many hostels in NZ don't have privacy curtains of any kind. Who enjoyed having people be able to watch you while you're sleeping? And I feel like curtains at least muffle sound a tiny bit too. Like when you have someone crashing loudly into your room at 1:30 am, then proceeding to snore louder than an F35 fighter jet and have their phone on max volume receiving notification from early in the morning (but not even waking up from it)... I didn't subtract a star for that though.
That said, I think the lock to the room "Fleur" needs fixing. Unless pulled close really forcefully, the door won't shut properly and people will be able to walk in even without a key. Not very safe esp since there's no proper storage either.
