"When friends opened the Southern Cross Club in 1958, Little Cayman, the smallest of the three islands that make up the British colony, had a population of just three people. Fourteen stilted cottages, painted turquoise, pink, or yellow, some with private porches and outdoor showers, sit on a white-sand, palm-studded beach. Today, the 10-square-mile island still feels deserted, with fewer than 200 permanent residents. Rooms lack WiFi, telephones and TVs (and even locks) but they look out over South Hole Sound, whose seclusion will appeal to nature-loving guests. The main clientele are fishing enthusiasts (bonefish, tarpon) and divers, who come from around the world to experience the thrill of Bloody Bay Wall and dozens of other pristine sites. Dive destinations range from sheer drop-offs, thousands of feet deep (the government limits dives to 110 feet), to shallow coral bowls suitable for novices and snorkelers. The resort dive boat is anchored at a beach pier, and dive operations give snorkelers access to the nearby fringing reef as well."

Review of Southern Cross Club, Little Cayman This was my first visit to Little Cayman, and I was referred to Southern Cross Club by a fellow diver I met in Belize. It turned out to be one of the best recommendations I’ve ever received. From the moment we were picked up at the airport to the time we were dropped off, we were treated like royalty. Every detail of our stay was taken care of, allowing us to simply relax and enjoy. We stayed in the honeymoon suite for our anniversary, and the accommodations were second to none. We were welcomed with a bottle of Prosecco and snacks to start our celebration. The waterfront view and pristine sandy beaches were breathtaking-I don’t think I wore shoes for an entire week! The restaurant exceeded expectations, accommodating my wife’s vegetarian diet and my pescatarian preferences. They checked in daily to ensure we were happy with the menu selections, and every meal was outstanding. Jennifer the general manager welcomed us upon arrival and then checked in on us every day to make sure there was nothing at all we needed. We even participated on the Pirate festival on the island with staff who invited us. Do not worry as this bar is like a top bar in Orlando with the very best craft cocktails and wines. Gaby the bartender is the Tom Cruise of the Cayman and he made the very best expresso martini and old fashion my wife and I have ever had. Top shelf liquors and bourbon were all available too. Book this resort if you want a worry free and relaxing vacation with all the action of diving and fishing and snorkeling you would like. The island is very quiet and we navigated the island on bicycles too which I highly recommend as they have some of the most pristine beaches in the world and we snorkeled the reefs right off one of the beaches too.

The Southern Cross Club in Little Cayman is a true gem. The bungalows are spotless and comfortable, the food is delicious and plentiful, and the kitchen was wonderfully accommodating of my dietary restrictions. And the diving—absolutely out of this world. The sites are stunning, the reef is healthy, and the staff is truly the star of the show. The land team is incredibly warm and helpful. Everyone greets you with a smile and a wave, they learn your name right away, and they make you feel completely welcome and at home. The dive staff here is the most knowledgeable I’ve encountered—and we’ve been diving all over the world. They’re not only friendly, but exceptional guides. I felt completely safe, and the dive briefings were the best we’ve ever had. I learned more on this trip than on any other. They take the time to teach you about the underwater ecosystem in such an engaging, memorable way that my friend and I are already planning to return for a course. The whole staff is really spectacular but special shout out to Anna and Sherri for teaching us so much and taking such good care of us. Southern Cross has cultivated something special—a true community—and from day one, you feel like you’re part of it. We’re leaving today, and I’m already looking forward to coming back.

My stay at the Southern Cross Club was incredible. The staff is top-notch, the food was beyond expectation! The resort is lovely…beautiful sand and beautiful views. The diving was fantastic. But I can’t say enough good things about the dive staff. I hadn’t been diving in over 25 years, and was a bit nervous. The dive team made sure I was comfortable every dive, every day. They operate like a well oiled machine so that you can really enjoy a relaxing experience. Sherri Anna Phillip Edward Abbe and Mike —. You guys ROCK! Thank you thank you!

So lucky we discoverex this jewel in the crown on Little Cayman. The Southern Cross Club is run by the most friendliest staff we've ever met. This is one of the most laid back, beautiful hotels we have come across. The beach bungalows are extremely tastefully decorated with the comfiest beds, coffee machines, fluffy towels and cosy armchairs can also be found in the rooms. We were on a full board basis and tbe food each day was increxibld with a great choice for every palette. The bar was expertly run witb a superb choice of wines, beers and cocktails. We took bikes out most days ehich are complementary for hotel guests. Diving is a big activity here but tberes a beautiful pool and lots of sunbeds and hammocks on the sandy beach and pool area. Its a small resort so by day 2 you already know everyones name which gives the hotel that family feel. We can't wait to come back!! 10/10 from us!!

Second time we have stayed and wow what a mini vacation. We enjoyed it so much we decided to stay an extra night . From being picked up from the airport , to long chats and drinks with the owner Peter we had such an amazing time. Room 4 was stunning , quiet and extremely private despite having a room next to us . The facilities were close by and the chilled out vibe made you feel relaxed straight away . What makes this place extra special are the staff and the food . From buffet breakfasts and lunch to Ala Carte Dinner the food was extra ordinarily excellent . We are already planning our next trip . Little Cayman is unspoilt and one of a kind .

This trip was to help celebrate rate the 30th anniversary of Peter Hillenbrand owning the resort. I would like to say it was a special week with extraordinary activities, food, and attention to detail. It was a great week but everything was just a thorough as it has been every other time we have been there. This was our 15th visit. Peter and Jen (the GM) have assembled an extraordinary team. The food, the diving, the rooms, are all the best. Better than all of this are the people. They make us feel at home and “part of the family”. Being at SCC s our best week of the year.

The Southern Cross Club continues to shine as an example of what a resort should strive for. With a strong repeat customer base, they are known for excellent diving (Bloody Bay) and a brilliant dive operation, outstanding food, and above all, customer service. Located right on the beach in Little Cayman, you can sit outside of your bungalow and stare at turquoise water. The rooms are immaculate and the towels plentiful and fluffy. And although Little Cayman is not a place for those seeking night life, it is the PERFECT retreat to relax, dive, swim in their pool, and just plain unwind. We've been 5 times and will be back!! Thank you Southern Cross Club!

If you look at the most recent worst reviews to judge a place like I do, let me assure you, ignore the May 2025 guy! I admit- the review worried me but I can assure you, the resort is amazing. We got married at SCC 20 years ago on Owen Island and decided to bring our 11 and 14 year old children back. Thankfully, due to building challenges, Little Cayman remains much the same and hasn’t been ruined by fancy, big name chain resorts or cruise ships. Although an easy flight from Grand Cayman, it’s largely unknown. ||Southern Cross is a casual old school island dive and fishing resort. It’s low key and unassuming. All the staff go out of their way to make sure you have what you need and enjoy your time there. The rooms are well appointed but it’s not the Ritz…and no one goes there expecting (or wanting) the Ritz experience. It’s true there is no WiFi in the rooms but it’s actually nice to be forced off electronics. WiFi is good in the lobby for those times you need to work, The food is home cooked, varies daily and staff is extremely accommodating. The grounds are well maintained and I didn’t have to “dodge any nailheads” the entire week 🙄. The diving is still some of the best in the world. Staff was fantastic and easily adjusted to divers of all levels- including our newly certified 11yr old daughter. We saw tons of fish of all stages, beautiful turtles on most dives and a few juvenile sharks- even seahorses! The bone fishing is challenging and the guide is also world class. Our 14yr son had the time of his life catching bone fish on fly. ||As a side note… we had to reschedule a few days before our first scheduled arrival in June due to an unforeseen hospital stay. Adrian was 100% amazing about helping us reschedule, no issues, no questions. ||We definitely plan on returning soon.
