We had Kevin and his team cater my husbands casino themed 40th birthday party over this past weekend. I have used Southern Cross to host in house parties and small dinners off site but this was by far our biggest off site party yet and Kevin and his team did not disappoint! Everyone raved about the food and the handmade cocktails! From start to finish Kevin’s attention to detail in making my vision come to life was spot on! His staff was attentive, friendly, and just exceeded my expectation!! I will continue to use them for future events and had to share so you can too! Here are some yummy food pics from the party!

There was 3 bartenders at first and they were great. They were really friendly and service was good. Then came in the bold guy and he was super rude and we practically got no service from then on. The bar had no one behind it for long periods of time even tho it was a Saturday night. The fries, gravy, spinach and honey for the biscuit were really good. Both chicken sandwiches were the driest chicken sandwiches I have encountered in a long time, if not ever. They were awful. Grits, mash potatoes and collard greens were not much better either. Was looking forward to the southern food but it was a disappointing experience.

Stopped in here when staying at the hotel in town for a night. The service was very good. The food was good but a bit mixed. The wings were very good; the fried green tomato sandwich just ok. Good beer selection.

FIRST TIMER ‼️ Drove from Philly. Found parking on the street for free. Arrived during happy hour. Ordered chicken and waffles with a cheese steak to share. Cheese steak was MID. Not like our Philly cheese steaks but the service was great. Staff was amazing. Chicken and waffles were ok. Not worth the 130$ we spent on dinner

We loved Southern Cross until today! We ordered take out for a late lunch- goat cheese salad, grain bowl- eggs pouched hard and two jalapeño cornbread muffins… we picked up the food (and shame on me I should have checked it before leaving) and NO Goat cheese, No maple butter that comes with the muffins and the worst part raw eggs for my grain bowl, which was also missing the avocado. We called to complain and the manager told my husband the goat cheese was there, to look… absolutely No goat cheese!!! Pretty sure we would see the piece of fried goat cheese if it was present….Then he said poached eggs are supposed to be runny! First I asked for them to be pouched hard- if you are in the food business you know that means not runny… but further more the eggs were NOT even cooked!! Just look how they sent these eggs! Then the manager insulted us by texting saying he refunded us $9 on the whole order… horrible customer service! They didn’t even offer to remake anything! Not sure we will be giving Southern Cross any more $. We will take our business somewhere that takes pride in what they do and appreciates their customers!

We found ourselves on the way back from South Philadelphia and in need of something to eat. Southern Cross was about midway in our trip so we decided to try it. I was able to make a reservation right from Google Maps (thank you very much). There was plenty of parking around the restaurant but it was all pay for parking. The restaurant has a very cool vibe when you walk in, it was pretty busy when we got there close to 1:00 so reservations are the way to go. After being greeted we were seated right away. The menu is described as southern comfort food which is a good way to describe it. The food menu has enough for everyone but isn't extensive. The drink menu however is pretty robust! I tried the Tea, which is similar to an Arnold Palmer and was REALLY good. I had the chicken sandwich with hot honey and bleu cheese on the side, wow, this was an excellent sandwich! The price was what you would expect to pay for the food, I was under $50 for two people with a cocktail. Our server was great, she was very helpful in selecting the right food for the mood I was in. She did a good job of taking care of us service wise. I'm going to make a point to eat here again, there are many items on the menu I want to try!

Went in during a recent snow storm and took advantage of happy hour. Had the deviled eggs and chicken fried nachos. Both were delicious and the drinks menu was fantastic.

We hosted a retirement industry party on the 2nd floor on 11/21/2024. Our group of 60 had a fantastic time. Great food, drinks, service & venue. We hope to return for future events.

Yelp
I can't believe I haven't been here yet! Went for Sunday brunch. We got the jambalaya, Chicken fried chicken, kids Mac and cheese and kids chicken fingers, chicken and waffles. The chicken fried chicken and chicken and waffles were devoured. I only ate half of the jambalaya because it was so filling. The kids food was very very good. The Mac and cheese had a smoky taste that was one of the best Mac and cheese ever. The chicken fingers were real ones that looked like they were battered as the same as the fried chicken breasts for their other dishes. I can't wait to return to try more! Only deducted 1 star because the coffee was blehh and it did take awhile for the food.

Jose A.

Yelp
Food was bland at best. Waitress clearly didn't want to be there. Chicken and waffles had 50% flavor. Waffles were fantastic, chicken not so much. Again, ZERO SALT AND SPICES. Half broiled chicken with mashed potatoes was saved by the gravy. Again, chicken had ZERO FLAVOR. Finally brussel sprouts were dry as hell. I think they need to change the chef. Environment is pretty good. Lots of early 2000s tunes if that's what you're into.

Atiya G.

Yelp
The food was basic and very underwhelming. As someone who doesn't love to cook, I cook have easily made all the dishes we had and they'd taste exactly like what we got. Just nothing special. We started with the 1/2 Pound Peel and Eat Shrimp. They were overcooked and kind of mealy. The tartar sauce that came with it was no good! Actually pretty bad. It tasted like a side of mayo. For entrees we ordered the Chicken 'N Waffles and the Half Slow Roasted Chicken. The chicken and waffles were pretty good. No complaints there. The waffle was especially good. My husband ordered the chicken. It looked good except for those collard greens. Heck no! LOL! They looked like someone went out back, pulled some greenery from the yard and threw them on the plate. I don't know what kind of collards those were supposed to be but I've never seen greens at a soul food restaurant looking like that. They'd be better off buying canned greens and serving those. The chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy were good but that chicken was dry. If it weren't for the plentiful amount of gravy that chicken would be a choking hazard. We also ordered the Jalapeño Cornbread to go with our entrees. That was a no. So dry we don't even bother eating it. It's really interesting because the website and menu give off elevated dining vibes and it is far from that. It doesn't need to be fine dining but it should be shown for what it is, which is casual dining. For example, stamping the name of the owner's website on the wine glasses you'd never seen in a finer dining restaurant but would see in a pub, bar type of place. Just mixed messaging. The service was good and all of the wait staff were nice and attentive.

Yelp
We found a seat at the bar for breakfast. Apparently they're big on reservations, because we were there pretty early and they said they were all booked up except for the bar seats (which didn't matter to us). The service at the bar was great. The mock-tails were delicious. I had the strawberry lemonade and my daughter had the oj and pineapple juice one. My daughter picked the restaurant because she wanted beignets. I had the eggs breakfast, which came with yummy potatoes. The food was delicious. We would definitely consider returning if in the area again.

Gina F.

Yelp
I've been to SCK a few times. The service is always good and food is superb. I always try something new each visit. The waiter suggested the popular breakfast quesadilla which was different for me. There was enough protein to keep you full and the breakfast potatoes were delicious. Wings were a good size and were fried enough for me! The cheesesteak egg rolls are definitely homemade and tasted great! Clean restrooms as well. Can't wait until my next visit.

Danielle C.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing!! It took us forever to choose what to order since everything sounded so amazing. I can't wait to go back and try more! Everything was delicious. Great service and atmosphere as well!

Aliza K.

Yelp
We stopped by here after work to grab brunch before the holiday break. Food was great, service was quick and the place was clean.

Shannon M.

Yelp
I've eaten a Southern Cross quite a few times and enjoyed everything I've tried on the menu. The service is always excellent. I recently had my bridal shower there and the staff were absolutely amazing. They were proactive in anticipating the needs of the party, and worked quickly and efficiently. I could not recommend them enough. The restaurant and event space are also so pretty! I will be back to eat again.

Jodi L.

Yelp
Fun spot and a don't miss restaurant when you're in town! I met some friends for brunch. We enjoyed the white sangria and spicy bloody Mary. From huevos rancheros to the eggs your way, everything was fresh, the food came out quickly, and it was tasty! We sat upstairs and loved the room decor. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu !

Dee S.

Yelp
The food along with service **** About the five stars - amazing job everyone did including the man on the mic @galavantentertainment * Thanks again~will definitely be coming back *^

Paul C.

Yelp
Kevin, our host - great. Danielle, our waitress, great. The food - cheesesteak rolls, jambalaya, chicken sandwich, shrimp tacos, and the brisket - were ....to die for. The food - great. A lil commentary, the new schoole Yelpers are savages and should not be sharing there opinions, SC is what a good restaurant is. A friendly business with good cooks. Just go eat some good food. Go now!

Aisha J.

Yelp
Went here while in town visiting family and friends. My friend recommended the restaurant and we decided to go here for brunch. It's such a cute place outside of Philly. They have street parking or a parking lot right across from the restaurant (cost is fairly cheap to park). The inside of the restaurant is very quaint and cute. The food was delicious! I ordered the Hot Honey fried chicken sandwich, my friend also ordered the fried chicken sandwich but with a different sauce and my other friend ordered the fried Po boy sandwich with fries. Everything was delicious! When I'm in town again, I plan to dine here with my husband!

Dolphin B.

Yelp
The food was so delicious . I had shrimp(perfectly fried) and grits(they have gouda cheese in them) The waitress was friendly and the ambiance of the restaurant is a homey feel. I would for sure come back here.

Liz D.

Yelp
Beautiful place for brunch with your friends, great vibe inside. The blueberry citrus pancakes were delicious- butter was cold/ chilled which made it impossible to actually spread. Also got the beignet board for an app and everyone agreed they were more churro than beignet, still tasty though. Will definitely return.

Cynthia C.

Yelp
This was our second time here. We returned because everything was amazing last time. Unfortunately not the case today. While the food was flavorful , it was lukewarm at best. My crab Benedict was barely warm and the beignets were cold. The scrapple I ordered was so overcooked, I needed a knife to saw through it.

Victoria T.

Yelp
10/10. Amazing service. Delicious food. Tasty drinks. I went with 3 friends and everyone's food was soo good we couldn't believe it. I don't like waffles but i'd eat waffles here.

Leann H.

Yelp
Recently dined here with large group. A few of us arrived early and proceeded to get a drink at the bar, and were promptly greeted by a young lady who was nearing the end of her shift. The gentleman bartender who took over never bothered to approach us for at least 20 minutes, despite a near empty bar. One of us inquired about their draft beer offerings only to be directed, in a dismissive rude manner, to a card on the bar with a QR code. The male bartender comes back to us after several minutes to see which choice of beer was decided upon, (which was impossible due to our group member not having brought his cell phone to scan the QR-coded draft beer list). The rest of our party finally arrived and we headed upstairs to our table. Our server was excellent and we all seemed to have enjoyed our meal choices. I ordered the shrimp tacos, which were good, but in my opinion were a little overpriced for the portion size. Overall a decent place to get a decent meal, but nothing that would make me want to return anytime soon.

Yelp
I cannot express how impressed I am with Southern Cross. We had a Post Wedding Bruch and from planning to clean-up it was absolutely wonderful. Kevin (GM) and the staff (Marquise and Matt) were awesome! We were placed upstairs and it was setup beautifully. Kevin was great on helping picking out what food items to order and the best way to go - we went with the limited brunch menu. (Which really was not limited.) The food was delicious and the service was just as good. It is safe to say that all of our guests left in a "food coma". The staff went out of their way to make my son's and new daughter-in-law's wedding lunch wonderful. I would recommend Southern Cross to anyone from a normal lunch/dinner to a catered event. Thank you to all of the staff for making the event so special and a memorable day.

Dakota W.

Yelp
I didn't get a picture but we also got cheesesteak egg roles. It was all delicious! The bartenders were attentive and pleasant. It was a darker and calmer bar. It's not the kind of bar you go to party. It's great for a date or a night out with friends. They also have live music on Fridays and Saturdays.

Lois R.

Yelp
Had a great brunch this morning with my son's family. The beignet board was delicious. Glad that it also held fruit, as some of the kids surprisingly didn't like the beignets but were happy to get into the chocolate. Son and DIL liked their drinks, and the kids enjoyed the lemonade. I enjoyed the fried green tomato BLT, although it could have used some more bacon, but there's enough left for tomorrow's lunch. Son liked the huevos rancheros better than the last place he ordered them. Service was excellent. And the picture with balloons facing our table was appropriate for our group. We don't do brunch often, but I expect we will be back.

Cheryl S.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place for brunch! My friend and I came here on Sunday and everything was delicious. They have a downstairs and upstairs area and an outdoor patio upstairs for seating. We sat upstairs and I really liked the set up of this place. We ordered the beignet board to start with, which was a great portion for sharing. It came with six beignets and was served with whip cream, chocolate sauce, and an assortment of fruit. For my meal I was craving something savory and got the open faced biscuit sandwich and substituted the potatoes for tater tots. Everything I had to eat here was absolutely amazing!! I also ordered a few of their brunch cocktails and got the mimosa flight, which came with your choice of three flavors. After my meal I got the Resting Brunch Face cocktail, (I really liked the name of this) which had cold brew, vanilla vodka, and rumchata. I wish I lived in PA so I could go to this place more often for brunches in the future!

Michael C.

Yelp
Great time, good food. We sat on the balcony on an excellent day. Enjoyed the Saturday. Veggie omelette w/peppers and onions (no mushroom, tomatoes)

Morgan C.

Yelp
Brunch update! I visited SCK for another outdoor brunch and it was just as wonderful as the first time around! I called a few days in advance to request an outdoor table as the weather was going to be gorgeous and I wanted to bring my dog - I spoke with the manager who made sure to note my request in my reservation and that she'd spoken to me. The mimosa tower and southern brunch board are MUST haves! Our server even adjusted the amount of OJ for us. Another great brunch!

Jaide T.

Yelp
I rarely go out for brunch, but Southern Cross Kitchen might be my new go-to! From their reasonably priced breakfast choices to their brunch cocktails, it was a win. My friend and I decided to try out their mimosa flight. At first, I was skeptical that there would be more juice than champagne, but Southern Cross Kitchen did their thanggg! Not only were the mimosa flights delicious, but they were also strong. My friend ordered the Fried Green Tomato BLT, which was STACKED, looked scrumptious, and came with waffle fries?! Bingooo! I was boring and ordered a waffle with tater tots. Simple but delicious. Not only was the food great, but so was our server, Bryn! Southern Cross Kitchen was busy, but Bryn was still attentive and made sure we were content. Definitely make a reservation! It gets packed quickly. There is also parking right across from Southern Cross Kitchen, which is awesome.

Francesco R.

Yelp
Food was terrific but the service was painfully slow. We only had a party of six and one of the people in our party didn't get their hamburger until 15 minutes after the rest of us got our food. So we got to eat cold food waiting for the other person's meal to come out. It took 30 minutes after ordering drinks at lunch for them to show up. Then they hit us with the mandatory added tip anyway.

Marty M.

Yelp
My sister saw a post about their fried chicken sandwich and beignets and we decided to check it out with a few friends. Worst meal and dining experience I have had in a long time. The food was not freshly made, not as described on the menu, or made with any care. The biscuits were dry and clearly had been frozen prior to being reheated and served to us. The fried chicken was subpar and somehow all of the breading had separated from the chicken by the time it made it to our table. They up charged for anything they could including sides of salad dressing for the salad orders ($.50 each) like it was a takeout pizza shop. We ordered the 6 cinnamon sugar beignets for dessert (for $16). The waitress put in and brought us plain instead of cinnamon sugar, when we informed her of her mistake she said "oh well, that's too bad". They were decent but I'd say miniature sized (each was slightly bigger than a fun sized candy bar). When we finished she asked if we would be interested in trying the cinnamon sugar beignets (WHICH WE HAD ORIGINALLY ORDERED AND WANTED) for an additional $16 charge! We were talking at the table after our meal and a previously unseen manager abruptly approached us before 10pm to tell us to leave our table since our section was closing... but that we could stand at the packed bar if we wanted to stay. Not sure what is going on with ownership or management. But everything was off, including the signs in the bathroom restricting how and how many of their disposable paper towels were to be used for various bathroom activities.

Kate B.

Yelp
We got cocktails and an appetizer. The vibes were cool and the music was good. My drinks were really good but the bartender was rude. He didn't acknowledge us when we sat at the bar and didn't say anything to us until 10 minutes after and said "what can I get you guys". He was standoffish and just really wasn't pleasant. But I would recommend.

Aimee V.

Yelp
Southern Cross Kitchen does not miss. They're consistent every time and have a wonderful brunch menu. I usually get the BYO Breakfast Board or Classic Benny. They offer a nice variety of brunch cocktails as well! Their prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. I personally love to sit outside but inside is just as nice.

Katana O.

Yelp
I was craving "southern" food so my family took me to this restaurant. It satisfied my craving. Overall I'd say I would definitely return. The food was great. I enjoyed the fried green tomatoes & smothered chicken the most. My husband enjoyed the jambalaya. The kids got buttered noodles & grilled cheese with fries & there were no complaints. The deviled eggs were okay, not bad. Kids eat free Tuesdays but make sure you mention it. The service was friendly & fast. The decor was nice & comfortable. I forgot to try the cornbread so I'll definitely have to go back.

Kathleen M.

Yelp
My sister just moved to Conshy and we loved this place! The staff, bar, and ambiance was amazing. The food was to die for and they had an awesome menu! We ordered the deviled eggs and fried green tomatoes for appetizers and we loved it. Living in the south, the food definitely had southern ties with a twist.

Elizabeth O.

Yelp
We went here for Drag brunch and had a really good time! The beignets were absolutely delicious. Those alone were enough to make me wanna go back! For my entree I ordered the waffle cristo sliders. The first plate that came out was lacking the cheese but after letting the waitress know she quickly had it corrected. Overall everything was very tasty. Terrific show and great food! Can't wait to go back for another fun brunch.

Dena H.

Yelp
Very nice place to grab some brunch in conshy! The servers are extremely friendly. We started off with some mimosas and for brunch I had the mac and cheese which was excellent. A lot of variety to choose from. You can't go wrong with what you pick!

Elise R.

Yelp
RAVE REVIEW!! Huge thanks to Sarah and the Conshy Girls team when I was recently planning catering for my Dad's big birthday party! Amazing communication, flexibility, customization, pricing sensitivity, creative ideas, and an absolutely delicious menu to select from! HUGE THANKS Sarah and team!!

Julian G.

Yelp
Charged for 2 Ranches even though we didn't ask for ranch No meat on veggie omelette even though they said we could add it on, we asked for both sausage and bacon Extremely poor service - didn't ask how food was, have a good day, didn't say name, barely came around, didn't ask if we wanted a check, was just given the check We had a table of 4, didn't get our food until 4-5 other tables were sat, ate, left, and their tables were flipped. Our food varied from room temperature to cold. Hostess was nice though

T H.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would! Only visit if you are comfortable paying your hard earned money for rudeness and bad energy from the staff.

Dan R.

Yelp
The ambiance is nice, the upstairs is a cool spot and they make good cocktails as well at both the downstairs and upstairs bars. Service is also very good. That's where the 3 stars come from. Unfortunately the food has been very underwhelming the few times I've come for dinner. Ordered a jambalaya that came out cold and then was reheated and contained zero flavor, as well as a few other dishes that lacked flavor. As a big fan of southern food, I'd love for this place to turn around kitchen so I could come back as a regular.

Dave S.

Yelp
Ordered the Jambalaya with jalapeño corn bread. Great flavor to both. Would recommend and order again

Renee D.

Yelp
Fun fact, today was my first time in Conshohocken. And someone left me a nice little present. A solid three hours on the parking meter. My friend asked me to choose and after reading some menus I settled on Southern Cross. Turned out to be a really good pick. The servers led us to the upstairs deck, promptly gave us water and took our orders. I went with the Shrimp Po Boy. It was pretty enormous. There were four giant crispy shrimp sitting on the tastiest looking bread. I knew simply biting into this was not an option. I had to tackle it with a knife and fork. The roll was as good as it looked, crispy, luscious and chewy. The tomatoes were ripe and juicy, there was plenty of remoulade and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. My only gripe is that the big fat shrimp busted right out of his fried suit as soon as I bit into it. Nevertheless, all that creole flavor was there. My friend has the fried chicken sandwich hot honey style with fried pickles on top. Again, impressive plate. She devoured it. Finally a creme brulee arrived. I did not eat it but her eyes went dreamy with the first spoonful. This is a nice place with great ambiance and good food. Definitely worth your time if you find yourself in Conshy.

Miguel S.

Yelp
Nice place in a great location. The cheesesteak egg rolls were really good as well as the fried chicken sandwich (recommended by our really nice waitress). Decent beer selection and good cocktails. Give them a try!!

Maria T.

Yelp
Tried brunch here on a rainy Saturday and the food did not disappoint. It was packed but staff did a great job turning tables over. We sat at a 2 top in the bar area. Besides the table being a bit small it was great. We started with the loaded waffle fries. My only complaint is I wish it was a bigger portion because they were SO good. Next we shared the Mac and cheese which was one of the best I've had. The proportion of noodle to cheese was excellent and it was nice and creamy. I had the breakfast burrito which was delicious and a good size. My fiancé had the breakfast quesadilla which is one of our favorites. There is nothing quite like it! I had the mimosa flight which was a nice way to sip on a variety of juices. My favorite was the grapefruit mimosa. Our waitress was super friendly and had great menu suggestions. We will definitely be back!

John M.

Yelp
Great place & Ina was an exceptional waitress and very helpful! Table of 6 and Ina had excellent recommendations for all of us.

Tyneisha M.

Yelp
I had a very nice experience here. Our server was friendly and helpful. With covid still rampant we ate outdoors and used a QR code to look at the menu on our phones. I ordered the Steak Eggs Benedict and I was not disappointed. My only complaint was that it was a little cold. Next time we're also planning to order that mimosa tower. It was 80oz and we weren't prepared for that yesterday lol

Kelly S.

Yelp
Thank you to GM Kevin and team for hosting our group's dinner party for 30 this past weekend! The tables were laid out beautifully, the food delicious, and the staff were super attentive and helpful (shoutout to Savannah!). Thank you so much for a successful and memorable evening!

Caitlin L.

Yelp
This is the definition of a fantastic guilty pleasure! The tater tots, guacamole, toppings and brisket makes one delicious dish. I'm only docking a star of this review because I felt super crappy after I ate it. I would not recommend this dish if you are on a diet! I would be open to trying different dishes from this restaurant in the near future.

Jackie P.

Yelp
It was our first visit and we made dinner reservations for four on a Friday night. We were seated promptly. Overall, the food was fine, a bit underwhelming. I ordered the short rib grilled cheese and it was okay but overly greasy.

JC R.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant. Automatically one of my favorites anywhere. The food, food presentation, decor, service, and atmosphere are all top-notch. They have great Mimosa flights, Bourbon French Toast, beignets, and deviled eggs. The restaurant is right in Conshohocken, conveniently located right off interstate 476

Emma F.

Yelp
I was here last night, and it was amazing. Our server and bartender was Nicole and I was impressed, she was making drinks and running them back and forth to tables. I ordered the Smoked maple bacon old fashioned and she even came to the table and smoked it in front of us which made the experience so much better. She recommended the Charcuterie board, and it was so delicious. We will definitely be back, hoping she is our bartender again. Service was phenomenal!

Lacey G.

Yelp
Always a good experience at Southern Cross. I was here years ago for an engagement party and the food was stellar. Mac and cheese in particular. I tried brunch this weekend and was not disappointed. Started with a bloody mary. The price point was right and it was a good drink. It could have used a bit more heat though. As for food, I ordered the hangover crusher. Bacon, pulled pork, mac and cheese, tater tots, and eggs. I ordered my eggs scrambled, but usually comes with over easy. The food could have been warmer, but it was delicious nonetheless. This would easily cure a hangover! Definitely comfort breakfast food.

Kelsey C.

Yelp
Food was great but service was god awful. Took over 30 minutes to be seated even though we had a reservation. Had to ask for utensils and napkins. Rude staff overall but food was g
