Fun to poke around in but not a lot affordable to us non-artisans. They have a lot of ceramics and jewelry that is gorgeous, don't get me wrong, I just can't afford locally made stuff. No restrooms (you'll have to go to McDonald's across the street) and no photography allowed in the gallery. There's parking out back which is a huge plus.

Good selection of local artists. I have a hard time judging value, it seemed pricy, but if you like the art, get it. It will be a unique reminder of your trip.

I loved visiting this gallery, so many unique items. I purchased two necklaces from a local artisan. I definitely would love to visit again in the future.

Google
Unique, interesting, beautiful crafts that will keep you saying "Hey, look at this!" to the friend with whom you're browsing. And it's definitely a "you won't be able to walk out the door without buying something " place. Very cool.

This location is currently closed due to flooding from hurricane Helene. They have reopen in the Grove arcade in downtown Asheville.

Nice handcrafts located here. Very overpriced. Located in a large building in the Biltmore Village, hard to miss. The place itself is well organized and the people are very sweet and helpful. However, there are not many things here that are truly worth their price. Fine to take a look, but not likely to buy.

I decided to go to Asheboro to complete all of my Christmas shopping. I had 3 stores on my list and Southern Highland was first. I live about 3 hours away and I was very excited. The establishment is really nice and has lovely things. The 3 star is because the staff never said hello. When i entered there was a couple leaving and I was alone in the store. Literally, 2 staff members walked by me and said nothing. I was almost shoulder to shoulder with one... no hello or can I help you. I was curious. I paid close attention to the staff as other ppl started to enter. One by one, the Staff NEVER spoke. Very odd to me. There was 1 older woman looking at a vase and a staff member walked up & took an item that was in front of the older woman but never asked her if she needed help. There was a pair of earrings i wanted to buy in the glass display to the left as u enter, 6 of the Christmas glass ornaments, 2 origami animals on the back wall and this really unique hand painted glass piece....but i changed my mind. I was so disappointed. I was raised to never spend your $ in an establishment if your not acknowledged. I will visit again (next year) to see how my experience will be...hopefully im acknowledged and i can get those earrings 😊

It's a really cool place to visit and look around. They have artists working live in the guild. I really enjoyed meeting the artists and wandering around their wears. It's pretty expensive, but not unreasonable because the crafts are very high quality. Definitely stop by if you are in Asheville.

Yelp
This building was originally a bank built to serve the workers who were working on the construction of the Biltmore Estate. It opened just before the stock market crash and operated as a bank for very short period of time. It has now been repurposed as a high-end craft store. The merchandise looked beautiful but was a bit on the pricey side.

Yelp
Everything was closed when we went. We got the wine tasting. Grabbed a bottle at the wine bar sat outside. The outside has heaters. The bar was packed but they moved effectively. It would be nice to go back when its warm and more is open. We were there on a sunday

Yelp
The Biltmore has been on our list for many years. Did not disappoint. We went MLK weekend. It was cool, but didn't have to worry about over heating, the sun was out, and it was easy to move around. Very nice day at the Biltmore, If you love history, This is a great place to learn about the Vanderbilts. Place is beautiful, word to the wise, lot's of area to cover by foot and lot's and lot's of stairs. Wear good shoes and take the shuttle up to the Biltmore.

Yelp
11/21/19 Very cute area full of shops and a couple of restaurants. I had expected to find privately owned shops with locally crafted items. However most of the stores are chains. My favorite shops were WoofGang Bakery and Moe's BBQ.

Yelp
Sone great items from sone talented artists. However, staff is not doing Justice to the experience. Staff suggested we go to the company's main site on blue ridge parkway (a logistical nightmare) because it had "more merchandise and more options for the artist" we were interested in. When we finally got there (the company won't fix its gps coordinates) we were told that site doesn't carry items from that artist. Back at this site, we shared such with the staff who replied "I'm not surprised. They have so many artist there." What?! Then why recommend we spend our vacation time running over there? Why not suggest we call blue ridge parkway before making the trek? Very inconsiderate.

Yelp
What a major disappointment, its nothing more than the stores in your mall Free parking? Not at all historic.

Yelp
If you're going to the Biltmore you may as well stop at Biltmore village before or after and stroll through the shops and have a meal at one of the restaurants. The cigar shop is highly recommended if that's your kind of thing--want something simpler? The fanciest McDonald's in the country is here! There are some solid art boutiques and craft shops, diners and upscale eateries, and much more.

Yelp
This could be a really neat place to buy unique and handmade gifts for people if it wasn't so darned expensive! Love the gallery, everything appears to be great from turned wooden cowboy hats to handmade jewelry. The price tag though, Wow! I browsed, but did not buy. I understand the artist/craftsman wanting to be paid fairly for their time and effort, and I also understand the retailer wanting to be compensated fairly as well for selling on behalf of the individual. Unfortunately, the combination of the two puts these types of items out of reach for me.

Yelp
My craft-loving self was fortunate enough to be taken to the Southern Highland Craft Guild's Parkway Craft Center in Blowing Rock this past fall, and I became obsessed with the place over a weekend. So knowing I was headed to Asheville, I made it a top priority to pay the Southern Highland Craft Gallery in Biltmore Village a visit. There are a lot of nearby shops and restaurants so you could make an outing of your time in the Village. Browsing the shop, I enjoyed taking it all in. It wasn't very crowded so I could wander willy-nilly. The Craft Gallery has the usual suspects like jewelry, pottery, and clothing. It's a little smaller than the Parkway Craft Center however. And the setting isn't quite as cool; it's in an old bank building but lacks the spectacular lake and Blue Ridge views of the Parkway Craft Center. Nice staff however. I did walk out of the gallery with a $7 bar of beer soap handmade in Asheville from Brew City Suds (perfect gift for a suds-lover in my life) so I consider it a successful visit!

Yelp
This is one of my favorite places to buy local art. They have woodwork, pottery, glass work, jewelry and more.

Yelp
There are some truly amazing pieces here most with the price tag to match. After visiting several galleries in the area including the other guild location on the parkway I have to say the staff here was unfriendly and rude. If even one person ( there were at least 4 staff working) had said hello or offered to share info about the artists I might have made a purchase. Instead New Morning Gallery around the corner won my business. The 3 stars are for the quality and talent of the artisans on display.
