Great hotel right on the beach. Big rooms with massive balcony with giant beds (We had the garden view which was also a view of the beautiful beach and sea. The staff that work here are so helpful, friendly and cheerful it is as if they had gathered the nicest people on the island of Barbados and got them all to work in this hotel. Reception was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble and they were happy to help with anything. I didn't know many of the staff by name but Richard was such a nice guy that you wanted to give him a big cuddle and Derek who worked in the restaurant and served us dinner one evening were two that made our stay feel so good. The food is good the location is second to none. Right in the centre of St Lawrence Gap with lots of bars and restaurants very close by. You have the capital, Bridgtown and Carlisle Bay 10 minutes up the road in one direction and Oistins with it's famous Fish Fry 10 minutes away in the other (get the local bus for about £1.25). Great hotel in a beautiful part of the island, lovely people here. What is not to like? Thank you Southern Palms Beach Resort. Everything was spot on. Incredible place to stay. We will be back.

Best resort on the island, lots of beach space turtles galore to snorkel and watch, also swim on a nice sand bottom with some waves to play in or use the water sports, water is 83 degrees , you cannot find better! All the staff care and treat everyone as family, beach restaurant and bar is beautiful sit on the waterfront and enjoy the food and drink, I cannot explain what a joy it is to vacation there. Lots of good restaurants down the strip on the St Lawrence Gap all walking distance. Don’t miss your chance to enjoy the gem!!

3rd time at this hotel, located right on Dover beach, beautiful white sand & turquoise water. Rooms are great, especially sea view ones. Brilliant massage at salon next door and best aqua zumba class ever! Didn't eat at the hotel as lovely cafes and restaurants on the doorstep. Most staff are wonderful, but I've taken off 1 star from the review for the frosty and unwelcoming reception I received, even though I was the only person checking in. Would I return? Hell yeah!

I would give the following scores.|Hotel 3/5|The hotel is dated however, it is clean. We were put in the Courtyard area. Perhaps the rooms around the pool area are better? |Staff 2/5|This is the part I found the strangest. Every time I’ve visited Barbados I’ve found the locals and hotel staff to be generally happy, visible, and helpful. What was noticeable was that the staff at this hotel seemed unhappy and were noticeable by their absence, especially around the pool area. As an example, it wasn’t until|day five did a member of staff ask us if we wanted a drink. I don’t like being harassed when I’m on holiday however, five days to get noticed is a new record for me! This encouraged me and others to venture out and deprive the hotel of revenue.|I’m not sure what the problem with the staff is. Are they unhappy or are they encouraged by management to act in a very hands off manner? |I’m sure some guests love being totally left alone so they may have a different opinion to mine.|Location 5/5|The location was perfect. Right on a great beach where you’ll see plenty of turtles. The hotel is also within touching distance of all the great bars and restaurants on the Gap. |Entertainment 2/5|Sketchy. Went out every night but when I did pop my head in the entertainment was non-existent or tame. To be fair to the hotel they may have taken a view that because the entertainment is so good along the Gap, the guests would prefer to venture out.|Overall 3/5|Despite the average score I would recommend visiting this hotel due to its great location and the fact that the time spent in your hotel room is minimal. However, I would suggest booking on a room-only basis and enjoy the beach and pool area. Whilst venturing out for the great food, drink and entertainment that the Gap offers. Despite my score of 3/5, I can appreciate why those with a different set of requirements would mark the Southern Palms higher.

The hotel is very dated rooms definitely need an upgrade. Most staff are not very friendly, especially the cleaners who never cracked a smile. Shirley in the restaurant area was lovely, the only member of staff who was genuinely friendly. We had an ocean view room all though the view was amazing, the noise from the chattel village across the road every night was loud so loud it sounded like they were singing in the room. If you like to sleep this probably isn’t the hotel for you. I would return to Barbados, but unfortunately wouldn’t stay at southern palms again.

We had a wonderful stay at Southern Palms Beach Club (beach-view suite). The suite was spacious and well-equipped, featuring a kitchen with all the basic essentials and two bathrooms—making it incredibly convenient. While the interior had a more traditional, older style, everything was impeccably clean. What really made our stay exceptional was the staff. Their attentiveness and consistently positive attitude created a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout our visit. The vibe of the entire resort was laid-back and friendly, perfect for a relaxing beach vacation. A special highlight was the live music performances on some nights, which added a festive and memorable touch to our stay. Enjoying great music with the ocean breeze in the background made those evenings truly magical.

We stayed here for our honeymoon in August 2025 and it was amazing. Lovely rooms, great staff and right on the beach. Awesome sunsets too. Never ate here as like to try different places but there are nice restaurants and cafes nearby. Got the local bus most days into Bridgetown which was only 3.50 Barbados dollars each way. Crazy drivers but good fun. Everyone so friendly. We also caught the bus to Oistins fish fry on the Friday night. Great food, music and drinks.

My family and I have been going to Sunday Buffet at Southern Palms since they had a thatched roof! We used to dive for coins in the pool that my parents threw in, then my nephews dove for coins so pretty much half a century of annual visits. We know we are patient with things on “island time” but our latest visit was very disappointing. After calling to make a specific reservation on the bar side of the restaurant we were advised we needed a cash deposit days before our arrival to secure a reservation which we made a 12:15 reservation barside…. great do we thought….. upon arrival we were told the reservation was made for buffet side which it wasn’t. Ok, we thought, no big deal we will sit on buffet side as long as it’s ok to order bar menu as not everyone wanted to eat at buffet. We had to wait until 12:30 for buffet restaurant to open (which should have been a clue that res was at bar)…..again no big deal, island life…..we were ok with that. They did accommodate us saying we could order from the bar side which is what we wanted in the first place only to have some of the party eat buffet and bar food people waited an hour to get any food!!! When we ordered they did mention it would take some time ….but an hour?? Wouldn’t have been so bad except we felt abandoned! Would have liked some ice water fill up at 30 min intervals but that wasn’t the case. Steal band is what we go for and the boys didn’t disappoint. Always professional, always excellent at their craft. Sorry Southern Palms but you dropped the ball big time. Disappointed in your staff. Guess the automatic addition of service charge to the bill gives no incentive to keep to a standard.
