Southern Sun Maputo

We had a fantastic stay at the Southern Sun Maputo and can confidently say it exceeded all expectations. From the onset the staff were warm, professional, and genuinely welcoming, making us immediately feel at home.||||The rooms were spacious, spotless, and comfortable, with beautiful views and all the amenities one could need. The hotel’s location is excellent, central, safe, and perfectly situated for both business and leisure.||||Breakfast was a real highlight: a generous, high-quality spread with something for everyone, enjoyed in a relaxed and elegant setting. The facilities, including the pool, were impeccably maintained and added greatly to the overall experience.||||What truly sets this hotel apart is the attention to detail and the consistently high level of service. Every interaction with staff reflected professionalism and pride in what they do.||||An outstanding hotel and a top-tier experience in Maputo. We will most definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the city.

The view from the room was fantastic. Very beautiful sunrises! The air-conditioning worked well. The buffet breakfast is just okay. But OMG! The mosquitos! The beds need to have mosquitos nets. When I booked this place I was hoping to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean, but instead I would either hear the air conditioning running or the very annoying buzz of mosquitos flying by my ear. For my 2nd night (after getting eaten alive the night before) I made my room very cold and covered my head and arms with a beach towel. I got bit less. Also they charge astronomical prices for transportation, it was ridiculous! I wish I had access to ride-sharing while I was here because it was annoying to be reliant on their absurd prices.

Southern Sun delivers true 5-star excellence. The staff are welcoming and professional, the rooms are spotless and luxurious, and the dining is outstanding. Facilities like the pool and gym are top-notch, and the location is perfect for both relaxation and convenience. Highly recommended for anyone seeking comfort and world-class service!

Friendly professional service in a lovely beach front setting. The breakfast is the star of the show, set next to the infinity pool overlooking the sea the food is comprehensive, catering to all tastes and needs and highlighted for me as a Brit by excellent pork sausages. I have stayed in several of the local hotels and this matches them in all areas and surpasses them in many, setting and breakfast being the obvious two.

Neat hotel, decent breakfast options, nice viewport, poor / slow service. Sink drain was blocked , called a few times, never resolved. Air conditioner was not working, asked for another room but only got moved at 10pm.

I just recently spent two weeks at the Southern Sun in Maputo. It was an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay. The beds and rooms are very comfortable. What really sets it above and beyond is the hotel staff, management, and even the owner. The owner, a gracious gentleman who even took the time to have a kind evening chat with me to personally ensure the accommodations were going well. I can't recommend this hotel enough!

Maputo is a big sprawling city in a very poor and a sadly under developed nation compared to other African nations we visited - so long as you do your research though and stick to advice, you should be fine. ||The hotel itself has an amazing location right on the beach. However when you arrive, they tell you the water isn’t safe at all and that the beach is only safe during the day. The beach is full of rubbish but otherwise looks stunning out to sea. Locals, quite naturally, use the beach for lots of things, keeping fishing boats, swimming, meeting people, sleeping etc ||Hotel info - Food, alcohol, friendliness of staff and cleanliness were top notch. ||We took a day trip to Estwantini - very well worth it. ||We had to leave early and could only spend 2 nights not 5. Still awaiting the promised partial refund for the later nights - not really what is expected of a modern hotel these days. This pushed me from 3/5 to 2/5 for the hotel.

Wonderful place to be and very nice people. |I enjoyed the view and breakfast. Amazing to stay there and fortunately I will share to my friends and colleagues how was the experience in southern Sun . Maputo
