I recently stayed at Southern Sun Waterfront in Cape Town, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The room was comfortable, with a modern feel and all the amenities I needed for a relaxing stay. However, one issue I encountered was the slow-draining sink in the bathroom, which was a bit annoying, but it didn’t majorly impact my stay. What stood out was the service. The staff at the front desk were friendly and helpful, always ready to provide information when I needed it. The breakfast buffet was another highlight. The variety was nice, and everything was fresh and tasty. A special mention goes to the servers & cooks, who tried to remember the customers & what the customers liked, which added a personal touch to the morning. I also ordered hake from the restaurant for dinner one night & it was good. Another highlight was the hotel shuttle service which ran daily. I’d recommend this hotel.

A very nice hotel conveniently located fairly close to the V&A Waterfront. One of the biggest advantages is the free shuttle bus, which runs every 30 minutes between the hotel and the V&A Waterfront, making access very easy and stress-free. The rooms are not very large, but they are reasonably spacious, clean, and comfortable, which is perfectly adequate for a city stay. Overall, it’s a well-located hotel with good transportation support and a comfortable standard, especially suitable for travelers who want easy access to the Waterfront area.

The staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. On arrival the safe was not functioning, however following a phone call it was immediately fixed . Vuyo- at the concierge station helped us in booking a trip to Robben Island and a taxi to take us to the terminal. The shuttle bus was a bonus, if it was full the driver would return to pick up those left behind. Great service. The rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, towels were good and the breakfasts, especially the omelettes were delicious.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Exceptional Stay in Cape Town! Our stay at the waterfront hotel was absolutely amazing. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, polite, and always ready to help. The on-site restaurant served excellent food, and our room was modern, spotless, and serviced daily to perfection. The hotel’s courtesy shuttle made getting to the beautiful V&A Waterfront precinct effortless — we went there several times and loved every visit. The location is ideal, with easy access to all that Cape Town has to offer. A special mention to the hotel manager, Nandipa, who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed and truly made our stay memorable. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again on our next visit to Cape Town!

This hotel is in a great location to explore Cape Town. A 20 mins walk along the private marina to get to the waterfront felt very safe. The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. Fantastic breakfast although pretty busy at peak times. Well appointed rooms, made up each day by the cleaning staff. We didn’t use the pool - it is quite small with only a few loungers but went to the beach instead via Uber.

We had a really great experience staying at the Southern Sun Waterfront Hotel. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel comfortable from the moment we arrived. The breakfast buffet was excellent — plenty of variety, fresh food, and great quality overall. The service and staff were friendly, helpful, and professional. There was a slight issue with our booking at check-in, but they handled it quickly and politely, which we really appreciated. The rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable, with soft beds that made for a great night’s sleep. The hotel also offers underground parking, which felt safe and convenient — although the daily parking rate is quite expensive and really should be included in the stay. There are a few things that could be improved. The air conditioners definitely need an upgrade — some of them didn’t work properly, and others made quite a loud noise, which was frustrating at night. The TVs could also be upgraded to smart TVs so that guests can connect to Netflix or streaming platforms, as the current ones make even new movies look like they’re from the 80s. Lastly, it would be nice if the hotel provided two bottles of water in the room when there are two guests staying, instead of just one. Despite those small issues, we still had a great stay. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere, great food, and excellent service. I’d definitely recommend Southern Sun Waterfront for anyone visiting Cape Town — it’s comfortable, clean, and overall a really enjoyable experience.

Another memorable stay at my number one choice when visiting Cape Town! This trip was for business, as I attended a conference at the CTICC, which is conveniently within walking distance of the hotel.||||A special mention to Nandipha at the front desk for her friendliness and warm welcome throughout my stay. I checked in the day after a major rugby game, so there was a short wait for my room, and I was offered a mountain-view room instead of the waterfront view I had originally requested. This turned out to be a great alternative — the room was spacious, comfortable, and offered a stunning view of Table Mountain.||||Breakfast was another highlight, with a wide and delicious selection. Mary Jane and Shahid went out of their way to accommodate my dietary preferences. Although the hotel is not Halaal, they thoughtfully prepared my non-meat omelette separately. The coffee was excellent, and the service remained attentive despite the breakfast area being quite busy.||||Room service for supper was equally impressive — the meal was tasty, beautifully presented, and served with a smile. I also appreciated that the complimentary shuttle to the V&A Waterfront now runs later than on previous visits, operating hourly until 10 p.m.||||Overall, another splendid stay. Consistently great service, friendly staff, and excellent location make this hotel my top choice in Cape Town. Highly recommended!

It’s really just OK. The entrance and general areas are stunning. The rooms are very average! They’re old and quite outdated. Compared to what you pay, the hotel needs to do more. It’s extremely commercial and no attention to detail. Overall, it’s fine. The proximity is the city is very convenient.
