Everything you need to start your day! Almond croissant is divine! Avocado toast, egg sandwich! You can’t go wrong! Indoor and outdoor seating. Food can take some time but it’s well worth the wait.

The almond croissant is truly the best ever and the coffee is also 10/10

This is a really great place to come in Southold for breakfast, lunch, or just coffee. Everything is homemade here. My favorites are the chicken salad and GAZPACHO! I will take pictures the next time I go and post them… These two are to die for. Also, the blueberry muffin with thyme was delicious and also the spinach feta danish. Run! Don’t walk to Southold General‼️

If you're looking for a cozy spot with top-notch coffee, delightful baked goods, great gelato, and breakfast sandwiches, then Southold General is a go-to place. This charming eatery offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing morning or a quick bite by Einstein Square . The coffee at Southold General is exceptional, even the most discerning coffee aficionados. The gelato is another highlight, offering a variety of flavors that are both creamy and indulgent. It’s a not cheap and the food is fresh and fine ingredients. What truly sets Southold General apart is the exceptional service, Rob, the General Manager is personable and friendly nature makes every person he encounters visit feel special. He goes out of his way to ensure customers are satisfied, and his approachable demeanor creates a welcoming environment. Southold General is a gem of a spot that combines fantastic food and beverages with outstanding service. Whether you're stopping by for a quick coffee or a leisurely breakfast, you're sure to leave with a smile.

Charged me $14 for a sandwich marked $12 on the menu. In the most ordinary supermarket or shop, places without any of this place's pretensions, they know they have to honor the sticker price even if they think it should be higher. not here--instead of giving me the $2 back they offered to refund the whole price and give me no sandwich. and beyond the incompetent and ignorant quality of the service, the food here has declined. won't be coming back.

Pretty good. Had the KK’s salad (had to cut it up and mix it together, but no bother here... Just how I like my salad). Produce seems fresh; I think the salad was fairly priced assuming the veggies came from KK’s down the street. Grabbed a chicken sandwich for my boyfriend, and when I got it to him he noticed that there was a produce sticker on the tomato... This I am not happy about. For $22 I expect a certain level of quality, and part of this is the kitchen prep. I don't mind paying for high-quality food, but please make sure that the product you are serving is reflective of this. Overall, average experience.

Google
NIcely curated place! Bright and airy with a variety food and beverages. The pizza looks very good in the showcase, but does not taste good at all: soggy, runny sauce... A bit overpriced on all products...

OMG - just cut into the “extra” pumpkin pie I bought for Thanksgiving. It is the best pumpkin pie I have ever tasted. Have never been a huge fan of pumpkin pie because it is often dense. But, this is light, airy, and spectacular. Wowsers. Cannot wait to taste the apple crumble tomorrow!!

Yelp
Great coffee with terrific pastries and prepared food. Great coffee with quick, pleasant service. Great coffee in quiet surroundings, eat outside in Einstein Square if you can. Oh, and did I mention the great coffee.

Yelp
Went here and was very happy overall. Service was quick, food was great. Prices were reasonable. We had a beet salad and pizza, beer and wine. Looking forward to going back again. I left without the double chocolate cookie which looked sooo good. Can't wait to go back for one!

Yelp
Cute little market with counter service. I got an amazing Italian sub sandwich, and my fiancée got a smoothie. Great seating and friendly staff. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Horrible coffee. Iced drink was noticeably warm, with maybe 5 ice cubes. 2 drinks also took 10 minutes while not busy. Chocolate croissants are good but skip the coffee!!!

Yelp
terrible, will not be returning would not let me order an English muffin with an egg then when they finally did it it costed $13! Totally rip off they are rude as well.

John G.

Yelp
This place is way over priced. $8 for a Cold Brew. $10 bucks for a small smoothie. The food is not worth the price. Would not go back.

Yelp
My family and I took a walk up main road and Southold, an activity we had been planning for 2+ years We happened upon this little gem. Perfect place to get a snack or a meal with tables and chairs outside to sit and watch people walk by The sorbet was amazing. My daughter will be a super fan for life. Can't wait to try their meals next time.

Yelp
Exceptional pizza. The Margherita with Mushroom is the best I have ever had. They also have a nice selection of wine which makes for a nice casual evening of dining in Einstein Square

Yelp
Recently opened on Main Street in Southold next to Einstein Square. How did Einstein get a Square in Southold? Well he spent a summer or 2 in Cutchogue and visited Rothman's store where Southold General is located and bought a pair of sandals and became friends with Mr. Rothman. Odd but true story. The Square and stores were renovated last year and a beautiful space was created. There are plenty of tables and outdoor seating in a casual setting. Of course there is also a bust of Einstein and a mural of Einstein and Mr. Rothman. The cafe is beautifully decorated with a farm house style showcasing local farm produce and packaged goods such as Jellies, honey and other products. There is a lot going on in this space. They have a excellent coffee shop, Pizzeria, breakfast items such as scones and muffins and a gelateria. So many things to choose from. Great place to visit for breakfast, lunch or just stop by for a coffee or gelato and sit outside people watching or Einstein watching. My only complaint is that prices can be on the high side. Great addition to Main Street in Southold. It really livens up the area. Make sure you visit some of the other local shops on Main Street when visiting Southold General. I think Einstein would have liked it here.

Yelp
Been visiting this place since the beginning and really wanted it to succeed but was much better in the beginning even tho it was overpriced. Now that Wednesdays table is closed (saddest thing ever) they have zero competition and the food is not exciting or good especially for the price. We vowed to never go back but always end up going there cuz in a rush w the kids and regret it. Today the manager was so rude to my family so that's the last draw. It's crazy that they think they can treat people like this and not even back it up with good food

Yelp
Its a wee bit prententious and pricey but the coffee is outstanding as are the brekkie sammies and the Einstein Sq sitting area is nicely done.

Yelp
Went today 10/15 with a friend on our way to Greenport. Very nice looking place, but the food was very disappointing. I had the pesto chicken salad sandwich, which tasted good but the bread was very cold and very rubbery. My friend had the grilled chicken sandwich, advertised as having Russian dressing on it but instead had way too much sriracha mayo that ruined the flavor of the sandwich. She also commented that the bread was very rubbery...not a good thing for a place that specializes in baked goods. We both had small coffee and shared a bag of chips. Total bill was a little over $40. May return for a coffee, but the food was meh and very overpriced.

Yelp
Beautiful bakery/cafe straight out of a Nancy Meyers movie. We visited for breakfast and lunch, and everything was so delicious, especially the croissants, which are the best I've had in the US - not exaggerating. It makes me so sad that Francois Payard no longer has a bakery in Manhattan. Southold residents are truly lucky! I highly recommend grabbing a pastry before visiting the beautiful home decor stores a block away. It was a wonderful way to spend an hour in Southold.

Yelp
3.5 stars. My family and I ordered takeout from Southold General for lunch. We had only tried drinks there prior, so we were excited to sample their food selection. We ordered 3 sandwiches (tuna conserva, short rib, and caprese), the caesar salad, and a side of fries. I had the salad and I tried the fries and caprese. My salad was missing croutons, so I was basically eating Romaine lettuce and grilled chicken, which was kind of boring after awhile. The grilled chicken was cooked perfectly. It was so tasty. I wasn't a fan of the Caesar dressing though: it was really tangy and a bit too citric for my taste. The fries were good, it was a decent portion considering it was a side and my family were able to split it and feel we each got a good share. They were a bit soggy and slightly too salty. The sogginess is forgivable because we ordered takeout. The caprese was very good. The bread was crispy, not stale, and the ratio of pesto, tomato, basil, and mozzarella was amazing. While I did not try the other two sandwiches, my parents both had good things to say about each. The store has a great atmosphere and our order was ready when we had arrived. I'm looking forward to trying some of their other options next time. Also, I normally take pictures of all my food, but we were so hungry we dove right in!

Yelp
The food is top notch. Gouda and pastrami Turkey all the way. Coffee is amazing and pasties to die for.

Yelp
First experience this week. The environment is friendly. Prices are generally high. Order the pizza; Quattro cheese. Ate a few bites. It was the worst pizza I have ever ordered. Never go back.

Yelp
This is such a much needed addition to Southold! Everything is absolutely delicious and rivals the quality of anything in NYC

Yelp
Food is delicious. Kudos to the team that runs the General, it's a great addition in Southold!

Yelp
When you walk in and see the airy setting and nice decor you think you're in for a nice bite to eat. Wrong. Spotty service. High prices for rather bland pre-made sandwiches at $22 plus. Salads are pre-made in plastic containers-pretty bland and not mixed or cut up well.. And the pizza, well it might be good if it wasn't soggy. Hard to tell. Disappointing. Tried it 4 times and every time there was some negative experience. I'll pay for good food and good service but this place doesn't offer either. Sorry guys...I was so excited by the opening but it's a real disappointment

Yelp
I really wanted this place to be great... and I think it has the potential but the management needs to get the team and process in a better place. My first experience was pretty terrible a few weeks ago but I let it slide because it was busy, new people were training and I totally understand it takes awhile to get to a good place. Today, I came in at a very slow time during the day and waited 10+ minutes for a coffee when I was one of 5 people in the whole place. When I asked to check in on my order, a young male cashier snapped at me and said can you just wait a few minutes and points to something behind the counter that I was not able to see (assuming something needed to be fixed or cleaned?) I then said nothing and stepped back really in shock of what just happened and continued to wait another 3-5 minutes for a cup of coffee. Three other locals/friends of the cashiers rec'd their cold brews and food prior to me even though they ordered after me. I then finally rec'd my coffee and given a short, curt "you're welcome" when I thanked him. I do think the coffee is great and the food is decent, but the staff and training needs to improve immensely. I know staffing is tough but realize this was my 2nd time in with a bad experience... I may try it one more time as the coffee is good and I do enjoy a nice cup but I may support other local spots before coming back here. I also think the price point is high, and I am used to city prices but for this spot they should maybe look at the local market and adjust a bit.

Yelp
We were traveling through the area and decided to stop at Southold General for lunch. We are so happy we did! We had a turkey sandwich and a Caesar salad that was fresh and delicious! The turkey sandwich was so good and the bread was the best we've had so we inquired where we could purchase it and they said everything is made on the premises. The turkey is brined to perfection and the bread was the best we've had. I wish we lived in the area. We would be here often if we did!

Yelp
Tuna sandwich was great and it eas nice sitting in the sun in the square with live music..Great place to relax and have a tasty bit.
