Southpacific Motel & Conference Centre

I stayed for four nights while I worked and went to a friend’s wedding—and I was sad to leave this place. My room was comfy and cute with its own kitchenette. But I think the best part was the incredible service from the family who runs it. I had just flown into Auckland from halfway around the world that morning, and they let me check in three hours early so I could sleep. They went above and beyond for my entire stay. Plus, the internet was super reliable, which was important for me since I was working remotely while traveling.

I stayed for a night with two friends just after Easter weekend and had a wonderful time. The room was cozy but the high ceilings made it feel very spacious, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The place is themed with palm trees and white sand, making it feel like you've really been transported to a vacation spot. Easy to find on the corner with good parking, and located 2 minutes away the NewWorld and restaurants. The host was easy to talk to and gave suggestions on areas nearby to visit. Didn't have the chance to take advantage of the spa pool unfortunately but would absolutely come back for a longer stay.

Had an awesome stay! The hosts were absolute legends—managed to sort a last-minute booking late at night, which was such a lifesaver. The place was super tidy, nice and cool (perfect for the summer heat), and had that coastal vibe that made it feel extra special. Plus, it was so close to town, which made everything easy. Would definitely stay again!

Carly and KB are hosts like no other. Kind, friendly, and compassionate to a fault, they welcome you to the Southpacific like it's their own home. Their attention to detail is reflected in the cleanliness and order of the rooms, while their willingness to help their community is shown over and over and over. Whangamata is a very special place. But it's only made that way because of the special people in it. Carly and KB are utter stalwarts of this community and they are part of the reason it shines so brightly. Thank you Carly, KB, and Surfie for the work you do and for welcoming me so many times.

This is an amazing place owned by two of the most wonderful people I have had the pleasure of meeting. I came to stay as part of an organized group hiking trip and we planned to stay two nights. My friend and I stayed in a studio and the room was very clean, had a Nespresso machine, and felt like a beach bungalow. There was a conference room that was spacious and comfortable with a kitchen that worked perfectly for our group to enjoy meals together. Carly and KB completely remodeled the entire motel and it is a beautiful and enchanting place.||Unfortunately, I fell ill the second evening. Carly and KB were incredibly helpful and gracious. Carly brought me ice packs for my head, connected our group guides with the area’s medical center, and even offered to accompany us to see the doctor. The group went on without me the following day (with promises of finding a way for me to rejoin the group once I felt better). Carly and KB let me stay in the same room an additional night, went to the pharmacy to pick up medications for me, and checked on me throughout the day to make sure I was ok.||The group hiking trip company was unable to reconnect me with my group and I was essentially stranded in a remote area of New Zealand alone and still feeling a bit ill. I was extremely anxious as I had to figure out how to get back to Auckland in order to meet back up with my friend after she completed the hiking trip and fly back to the US. Carly and KB helped me determine the best way to get back to Auckland and book a bus ticket; however, the nearest pickup was 45 minutes away from the town we were in. Carly offered to bring me to the bus stop the following day so I could catch my ride back to Auckland. I nearly cried while thanking Carly for her and KB’s kindness through the entire ordeal. I am so grateful for them making me feel welcome, safe, and cared for in such a frightening time in my travels. ||You will love your stay here as Carly and KB will welcome you like you are family. Also, they have an adorable dog named Surfing.

This establishment is well run and extremely clean. We were very impressed with the owners and their commitment to providing a comfortable, relaxed two night accommodation.|We had Unit 5, the bed was incredible. Having just come in from Vancouver we were a little Jet-lagged still. We slept soundly. It was a pleasure.

Carly & KB were super easy & friendly host their welcome was wonderful. The room was clean tidy & had a great beachy vibe The surrounding & gardens were nice. Easy walking distance to everything but still nice & quiet. Highly recommend

There couldn't be a better motel to stay in NZ or Australia. Carly,KB and Surfy would be up there if not the best hosts that I have ever come across in my travels around the world. They bent over backwards to assist me as a disabled client. You couldn't find better hosts with a welcoming attitude. The facilities they provide to me in my opinion, would be second to none. So with great pleasure, I would love to give all three of them a big 👍 up. 😎
