Yelp
Since this has been my home away from home for YEARS, thought I should put in a review.
I used to frequent this mall at least once a week...but in the past several years, I've become more of an online shopper, so not as much of a frequent shopper here anymore. Still, I manage to stop in at least once a month if only to browse and walk around.
Guess this has been my go-to mall mainly because I love of its anchor stores, like Nordstrom and Neiman Marcus...and since it's the nicest mall in town.
More than the other malls, I always thought that South Park did a better job keeping the place beautifully decorated, as well as clean and shiny on the most part. Plus, despite some high-end stores like Louis Vuitton and Cartier, there are plenty of affordably priced, mid-range stores as well. There are always an abundance of sales in all the stores...so really, the mall isn't as snobby as most folks seems to think?
Sadly, there are some disappointments. I realized just recently that Sephora is no longer there...but possibly closed for renovation or relocation?? Bummer because Sephora was one of my fave stores. Thank God Anthropologie, Chicos and Urban Outfitters are still there. I also love the many newer additions, like Altar'd State, Kendra Scott and Papyrus.
Another disappointment is the lack of sales reps available at cosmetic counters in all the department stores. This, of course, has been getting worse by the year...thanks to a growing trend of online shoppers, like me! On my recent visit to one of the cosmetic counters (Lancome?), I noticed how long it took to get assistance...since there was only one lady manning several counters. The same goes for all retail areas in all the department stores. Though not yet as bad as the cosmetic departments, the number of retail reps seemed to have decreased over the past few years. NOT loving this trend...in the waning number of store reps, and customer service in general.
Still, I can't blame the mall since it's really because of shoppers, like me, that have largely been absent at the mall. I haven't totally abandoned the mall, but I have been going there less and less.
Anyway, I only hope this great mall survives the advent of online shoppers, as well as a growing number of suburbia shopping strips. Personally, I'm going to make more of an effort to visit the mall more. In fact, I'm going to make an effort to at least buy some regular items, like high-end makeup at the mall...NOT from Amazon or ebay. I only wish others make an effort too. After all, wouldn't it be sad if this, as well as other big malls, disappear??
