Southside Guest House

Our room was tiny. But it’s clean, has a great bathroom and you can’t beat the location. ||We enjoyed being close to the university and having young people and excellent restaurants all around that are open late. It’s a short walk to the park and about 20 minutes to the Royal Mile. There are buses on the street but we preferred to walk. ||The staff is never at the desk but you can call them and they respond quickly.

It was dissappointing to arrive to the place, it is not what is described on the website. |The front of the property did not have a garden or tree and the property looks decadent. |I used the groundfloor only bathroom, it ws tiny, basic and it had a sewage smell.|The only staff member spoke good English and was kind. Our twin bedroom was worn out but clean, bathroom very clean. |The breakfast was simple but fresh. The only person offering it was kind. |I chose the place because of the traditional Scotish looked it showed on its website and for the several awards the same webside displayed. Not sure where these awards came from.

Great hotel, very close to where I was needed as well as to shops & restaurants. 4 stars due to how absolutely roasting the room was with little to no ventilation or air-conditioning. Despite that I still enjoyed my stay!

Comfortable three night stay at Southside Guest House. House has lots of period features. We had a double room on the top (second) floor at the back of the property. Good sized room with plenty of space and storage. Good facilities inc hair dryer, iron+board, tv, complimentary tea, coffee and drinking water. Very comfortable and nicely decorated. Room was serviced daily. Bathroom was very modern, clean and complimentary shampoo, soap and shower gel provided.|Guest house is about 20 min walk to the Royal Mile or Holyroodhouse. There are numerous buses that stop nearby, all going to the city centre. Lots of shops bars and restaurants close by. Very quiet at the guesthouse. Would stay again.

Stayed in the single room - great for solo travelers who don’t want to pay the expensive Edinburgh prices. The house is old and charming, very clean. The room was small which was perfect for just me. It was quiet. I never saw staff besides when I checked in. Did not get breakfast since it was an additional fee. Very close to multiple bus stops.

Positives: Wonderful location, friendly staff, free wifi, comfortable room. Everything was very clean and we were well catered for. ||Everything in great walking distance and just one road down from a stunning view of Arthur’s seat. ||Lovely bathroom, great water pressure, in room television & daily cleaning service (optional)||Negatives: Lots of Ambulances near by so very loud sirens from outside, so a little noisy, but it is a city 🤷🏻‍♀️ ||Very warm room! As a warm sleeper, an optional fan wouldn’t have gone amiss, I’m sure in the summer heat it is probably quite uncomfortable. ||We stayed in room 3 & loved it. Hoping to return again soon.

Roy was a good host. He helped us carry our luggage up to our room as soon as we arrived, and recommended some nearby places to eat. | The room was spacious with a modern bathroom. We chose hot breakfast dishes from the menu in the breakfast room and they were very well cooked and delicious.

The room was cozy and clean , old style|Good sevice and the breakfast experience was superb. |Good location with bus stops outside not far away but also walking distance to ex. Old Town.|Our choice of staying in our next trip to Edinburgh. / Thomas and Helene
