"The queue is long and you’ll have to eat standing up, but this spotless hole-in-the-wall does some of the best souvlaki in town. If you get antsy while you wait, be mindful of the multiple signs behind the counter saying: OXI AGXOS (NO STRESS). You won’t find frozen fries or garlicky tzatziki here. Just perfectly grilled pork skewers wrapped in a grease-free pita and garnished with sliced tomatoes, onions, parsley, a dollop of yogurt, and plenty of paprika. Don’t worry if you confuse it with the other Kostas souvlaki joint just off Agia Irini Square on Vassiliki Street, where the thing to order is pita bread stuffed with meatballs and spicy tomato sauce. Pull up a plastic chair and watch hipsters drink craft beer while you dribble tzatziki down your chin."

Overhyped. The wait was over 50 minutes long because they cook on a grill flat top to order. Even with it being fresh off the grill, the beef souvlaki was dry and lacking in flavor. I rarely give bad reviews but it was not worth the wait.

First, yes I waited 40-50 minutes (if you speak Greek or a local you won’t have to). Second, I went after lunch and only pork was left. It was tasty, basic ingredients, it’s made to order so it’ll be hot and juicy straight off the grill.

this place is extremely hyped. we waited for 40-50 minutes until we got our food - so the expectations were really high for the food, but then I didn’t really enjoy the pork souvlaki - expected ground meat, not skewers. once you sit down, it seems you don’t have to wait / queue again for souvlakis, which is a bit unfair for those in line - once you sit you can just order again and again. All in all it’s a good place, but the system for order handling is slow, causes huge lines, and the food in the end is not the best I had.

This place is the best Souvlaki we tasted in Athens. It‘s close to the metro station Syntagma. If you are hungry and starve like us after arriving in Athens, you HAVE to go there before you start looking for any other food options. It‘s a little shop, opened since 1950, and they cook freshly because they receive daily ingredient deliveries. The lady who works there absolutly friendly and nice. We will visit this place again during our short trip👍

I have seen this place all over the Internet and people complaining about the queus. I went Monday morning and there was absolutely no queue at all so I recommend you to go there. The bread is very good and the meat the beef and the pork it’s very tasty. I might be speaking Out of place here because I’m not Greek however I would have enjoyed more actual tzaziki than just plain yogurt although the yoghurt is amazing and super thick I am aware that this is not gyros so they actually don’t sell gyros. The prices are ridiculous probably less than a McDonald’s burger hundred percent recommend to come. I wrote this review with dictation please don’t mind the typos.

Superb! The queue was not too bad and since the establishment was so efficient, we were eating in no time. Perfectly balanced flavours, the meat was so tender and juicy, nothing tofaultw really! When we're back in Athens, Souvlaki Kostas will be my first stop!

Google
Est. 1950 which makes this spot one of the oldest and most famous spot serving souvlaki in Athens. Almost every time there’s queue outside with ~40’ of waiting, but it’s still worthy. Delicious and solid portion. 3.5€ for portion 🤯

Came early so we didn’t have to wait in line But if we had to wait in line for this food I would be devastated Worst food I had in Greece so far Just like all the comments said: It is so dry and overrated It is overhyped for sure Will NOT be coming back EVER Both the beef and pork was so dry Had to throw it in the trash Even if it was free I wouldn’t eat it
