The idea is that you combine the best of both worlds -the social aspect of a hostel with a private room. ||That would be nice, except that on a weekday, there isn't much of a social atmosphere. The free sangria from 6-7 PM is a nice touch, but it wasn't very good tbh, and few if any other guests took advantage of it when I was there. The speakeasy bar, I never got to see, because it's only open on Friday and Saturday. ||So then there are the rooms. On the plus side, it's clean and you get a private room with a bathroom that's pretty modern. I don't care for the overengineered toilets, but you can just flush like regular if you want. The mattress is not uncomfortable so that's a plus. But that's where it ends. The rooms have concrete floors and no windows, a single hook on the door to hang anything, and no table or chair. Accessible room is less claustrophobic, fwiw, if only slightly so. ||All would be forgiven if you were getting a deal. But at well north of $100 per night in a second rate city, it feels like a bit of a rip-off. Hotel prices in the US are just out of control in general, and it's the primary reason why I lean more toward renting apartments in the US.
