SOVA Micro-Room & Social Hotel

First, Parking was a nightmare but the hotel isn't responsible for giving you a parking spot. You can get lucky and pay 11-20$ for 24h parking if the stars align but that didn't happen for me. If the spots are too full the parking prices change and 24h isn't an option. I was forced to wake up at 4am to add more time for my parking which cost an additional 25 bucks for 8h. I was then forced to park somewhere else. Staff was the best thing about the entire experience but we didn't interact with them too much. They never responded to my room AC not working appropriately. There's a sign in the room that tells you to text them and then they never respond anyway. Not just my ac but my buddy's next door. The remotes don't even control the temp of the AC so it's basically just for show. Set at "65" but the room was definitely 72 or above even though it was 30 degrees outside. So if it's hot in Dallas the rooms would be even hotter than 72. Rooms haven't been cleaned in a while. My white socks were black on the bottom after walking in the room for a few minutes. Showers were gross with black mold and if the room floors are dirty imagine the last time the shower was cleaned. I'd never stay there again.

Great location and very friendly reception staff. The rooms are small and have no windows, but it is not a a problem as they are very bright and have what you need. There is space under the bed for your luggage and some hooks for your clothes. It is well situated, you can walk to the food market, Deep Ellum and Art museum. There are many bus connections too. It would be nice if you could control the lights for the bathroom and bedroom separately. And if the showers had a glass window so the water doesn’t go everywhere. I was missing a kettle or something to make myself a little evening drink / snack. The walls are also quite thin so you can hear your (upstairs and next door) neighbours so I recommend some earplugs. Although everyone was quiet and respectful on my floor. I had a cosy night in and I’d return if I come back to Dallas. I also found the floor to be dusty / dirty, but I had my sleepers +1 for the luggage room, that was very handy! Thank you

We stopped in to Sova while in from out of town and it did not disappoint. The location was perfect, close to everything and the service was top notch. Andrea was so sweet, excellent customer service, and she made our date night special. She recommended where to grab a late night bite and we felt right at home. Thanks Andrea!!! We’ll definitely be back!

Awesome little place to stay. We stayed for a concert in Deep Ellum and walked to and from the concert. Parking across the way was convenient. The room was very clean, quiet on a weekday, and convenient. Bar also has great drinks! I highly recommend, but also bring your own pillow because their pillows are very flat.

We needed a place to stay for one night and didn’t have high expectations for this micro room but it was actually a pleasant surprise! Location was perfect for what we needed, room was very clean and the staff was so helpful. We really enjoyed our stay. Parking was across the street in a paid lot which was fine, walking distance to deep ellum, bar was nice to come back to after a night out. Definitely recommend.

I had an amazing stay at Silva Hotel in Dallas! From the moment I checked in, Naomi and Andrea went above and beyond to make me feel welcome. They were both friendly, professional, and quick to help with anything I needed. The room was spotless, modern, and incredibly comfortable — exactly what you want after a long day in the city. The bed was perfect, and I loved the attention to detail in the design. The hotel’s location is also a huge plus — close to great restaurants, shops, and downtown attractions, but still quiet enough Highly recommend Silva Hotel to anyone visiting Dallas — I’ll definitely be staying here again next time I’m in town!

PROS: Pretty good location — just a short Uber ride to restaurants and things to do. The bed was comfy, and the heated toilet seat was a nice surprise. The room was clean enough, had a Smart TV, and was cheaper than most hotels in Dallas. They also provided shampoo, face wash, and body soap. The free sangria at check-in was a fun bonus! CONS: The biggest issue was parking. I reserved a spot in the lot they recommended across the street, but when I arrived, it was full. I got a quick refund and parked in another paid lot behind the hotel (marked “SOVA”), but unfortunately woke up to a broken car window and my car ransacked. The area felt a bit sketchy — if I’d known more about the parking situation, I probably would’ve chosen a place with valet or more secure parking. The rooms are very small (which I expected), but it would be pretty tight for two people moving around. It also felt a little humid or musty inside — not awful, but noticeable. I was really looking forward to the speakeasy, but it ended up being closed for a private event. I even got a text the morning of check-in saying it was open, so that was disappointing. Totally understand private events happen, but a heads-up before check-in would’ve been nice. Noise was another thing — I was near the speakeasy, so it was pretty loud, and the walls are thin. My neighbors could hear my music, which they weren’t thrilled about. It didn’t bother me too much, but if you’re a light sleeper, this could be an issue. The pillows were flat, and the linens looked kind of worn with a few small stains. Not a dealbreaker, but it did make me nervous since the hotel warns about extra charges for stained linens. Luckily, I didn’t get charged. Overall: Not a bad spot for a night or two, especially if you’re traveling solo and not bringing a car. I’m trying to be generous since they have no control over a car break in, however I do not think I’d book again.

Had a long weekend of work ahead of me; inspired my booking to save myself a long drive back & forth. The front desk staff regardless of my time in or out were very pleasant. I’ve stayed here last year & was on the first floor. Had a quiet stay. This go around… was a little different. Not bad but the walls are thin. I could hear all the activity from the speakeasy, the room next door & the stairs. Second night was either quieter or I was too tired to be bothered. During the week I think this would be a fun location to stay at & walk around downtown like a tourist!! The farmers market is only a few blocks away.

We need more places like this! This was the perfect place to stop in for two nights while I needed a place to stay in Dallas before heading to San Francisco. I stayed in their smallest room, which literally was like a pod with a bedroom and an open bathroom set up. Everything was super clean, and the toilet even had a bidet while the there also was a monsoon showerhead. Check in was a breeze as you pay three days prior to your stay. Check-in is also at the bar right when you walk in. Yes there's a bar and they serve coffee all day too. It really is designed for the professional who is staying in Dallas for a short time or just a single person making a stop here. The bar was great because I would get takeout for dinner, sit have a drink to myself, take a beer upstairs and have my dinner in my room. It was quiet and peaceful and I really would stay here again. I also want to make a mention of the location. It's on Main Street and there's a few things that are pretty walkable. Deep Ellum isn't far, as well as the JFK memorial. I walked around a lot, and it was nice to discover what was around this hotel.

Stay away from SOVA. Hotel rooms share a paper thin wall with the loud speakeasy like ours did. Pretty disappointing they put a purposefully loud room next to others and don't warn you... I asked to be moved and was refused. On the second night, they rented the speakeasy out to a private event and blasted music until midnight. MIDNIGHT! When I complained about the noise, I was told they would not do anything. Why on earth would you put a party room next to where people are trying to sleep? Such a terrible experience and just a money grab. Other things to note: the bathroom towels were ripped, the shower was missing a door, and the sheets were too cheap to stay on the mattress for an entire night. Yikes.

This is a unique and intriguingly interesting property, which used to be a Nash Motors dealership. The building was originally built in 1930. The site is now a three story, 39 room microtel. Front desk staff were warm, welcoming, and extremely personable to speak with. Special kudos to Andrea who was helpful to me upon arriving to assist me with check in. Rooms are functional with a comfortable bed, and the site is about a 20 minute walk from the KBHCC. The staff were responsive to the A/C issue in my room and provided luggage storage upon check out. The lobby has a hip, but quiet vibe to it. This was a great, budget friendly option vs. the more well known hotel franchises. I would definitely return.

First time in a Micro Hotel and I liked the layout and vibe of the place. I stayed for work, so I rated it this way bc the hotel room walls are thin. I could hear everyone coming down the hallway as I was trying to sleep, which made it difficult and I'm a hard sleeper. That's no fault to the hotel bc the other guests were very respectful. I just wish the builders would have insulated the rooms better for noise control. That being said, I would visit again but I would bring ear plugs LOL. The location, coziness of the room, price and the high end touches in the room like the super high tech bidet had me impressed. There is no onsite parking, however there is a pay by the day lot directly across the street which isn't a problem. Staff was very friendly, so sitting down at the bar was very enjoyable.

Visited Sova for a networking event and had a nice time. We were in the lobby for the event, which had a decent amount of space and seating for the size. Full bar and two staff working both bar (and pouring heavy! Yayyy lol) and register. It took me a second to realize this place was a hotel? Multiple people rolled in with luggage while we were there and one of the staff members working the bar was also checking people in. As far as the event I enjoyed myself, but it might have been a bit much if I was hotel guest and trying to check in.

Stayed there a couple years ago, soon after it opened. Have nothing but positive things to say about SOVA. Great price, location , room, etc. The coolest thing, however, was its specific location. It's just a block away from the Dallas Municipal Building, which use to be the Dallas Police HQ. It was in the basement of this building where Jack Ruby shot and killed Lee Harvey Oswald. I asked the entry officer/guard if I could see where it all happened. Of course, I couldn't. Said he saw it once. There's an 'X' marked on the basement floor. But it's all walled off now. I was a little surprised that the hotel staff did not know this history. Maybe because they were new.

Love the micro hotel concept, check in was easy, with a warm greeting by Briana. The speakeasy is fun, rooms are efficient, clean comfortable and affordable...exactly what I wanted for a quick overnight business trip. Will definitely stay again next time I am in Dallas. Please expand across the country!

Been staying here on business ever since they opened. Great hotel, clean with comfy beds. Staff are ver friendly. Location is close by to many of the areas with great bars and restaurants. The parking lot across the street is inexpensive for downtown parking. Thanks for the fresh coffee in the morning too.

Sova is a cool little hip hotel! It's in a great spot and the bar/front desk is cool! The price was right and everyone was helpful and accommodating... it would have been 4 stars but the bed wasn't very comfy but we will definitely stay again

We stayed here for one night while we were in Dallas and I must say it was a super cute, small hotel. The rooms are cozy with little space outside of your bed and bathroom area. We got a free shot with check-in (every hotel should do this). They had a super nice attendant who was familiar with local restaurants and recommendations and she doubled as the bartender. Would definitely stay there again

One of the worst and overpriced stays ever. Had to change room as heat didn't work nor did TV. The new room was hire smaller. No place for luggage but floor. Hop over bed to get to bathroom. Stay away!!!!

Nice rooms but small and no desks to work at. Lotsa weird noises with the HVAC system or pipes. Good price. Would give 3.5 stars given the choice. Would stay there again.

I have never had a better experience at a hotel than I did at Sova. From the second you walk in you are greeted by the most amazing, sweetest staff you can imagine. The drinks are top tier and the atmosphere is incredible. Such a laid back, comforting aroma the owners have created. I slept incredible like I was right at home. I will recommend this hotel over and over! This is my new go-to spot to stay in Dallas.

The Sova hotel is like a scandinavian hotel right in the heart of Dallas. My wife and I stumbled upon it last week on our walk back to Downtown from National Anthem restaurant, which is across the street from Sova. We had a couple of drinks at the Sova bar and and received a tour of various hotel rooms. The first thing we learned was the building was a Nash Car factory. You can still see a mosaic Nash logo in the lobby floor. On the ceiling outside the elevator on the top floor, you'll see an old pulley. Everything else is new and CLEAN. This hotel takes a community-driven approach to hospitality. Each room is cozy with a nice bed, bathroom, and shower. The point is for people to hang out at the lobby bar and explore the town rather than stay in their rooms. So, if you're traveling through Dallas and want to greatly increase your odds of meeting new people, Sova is the best place to stay.

So much to say about my 3 nights here. It's not a bad place to stay but here's what I wish I knew before going. The rooms are "micro". They have a bed, a TV, and a shower (and a bidet). Here's what they don't have: a lamp or anything but the overhead light, coffee maker, or even a cup to drink water out of, soap or anything in the shower to put soap on, windows, extra linens, a place to put your suitcase. There are no places close by to get breakfast. There is a 7-11 on the next corner, but restaurants are a 10 min walk (at least). The rooms are not sound proof, or even quiet. You can hear your neighbors talk; my neighbors talked until about 4 am. I couldn't even be mad because they weren't loud. So all I had was a clean bed and a shower. If that's cool with you, then it's a nice place.

My stay at SOVA was stressful because the AC machine was making horribly loud clicking / creaking noises all night that made it very difficult to get any sleep at all. I turned it off but there were no windows so there's not enough airflow without it on. I attached a couple of videos of the AC unit noises as I hope this is something you can fix for future guests. The room I stayed in was 200, they called it the smallest room in Dallas. It was basically a toilet, shower, and bed, separated by a curtain (not a door) and a couple of steps distance. This is not a room for more than one person, unless you want to make eye contact while using the toilet. The sink was oddly tight and difficult to use; the faucet is very low and the sink bowl is a flat, angled slab with a narrow gap for you to slide your hands into. The toilet had a nice heated seat which was easily the best thing about the room. It also had a bidet with features like water massage, which was interesting. The staff were friendly and nice and the location is good.

Loved this little hotel! It was walking distance from downtown-so nice. It was a very good price and as soon as we got there they were having 1 free sangria per guest happy hour. The building is adorable on the outside and so nice and modern on the inside. The room is small but it was perfect for my boyfriend and I. The bidet is also a very cool feature! Enjoyed our stay and was pleasantly surprised. Would stay again!!!

I was very impressed with the renovation of Sova and thought the rooms where thoughtful and the service was great. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a drink or a great night's stay. Great all around!

Super close to everything downtown, and perfect for an overnight stay-cation. Simple, clean, affordable! And enjoyed talking to the owner. Love the concept!! Consider Seattle!! ;)

the a/c went out at 1am. they said they would call me back when they figured it out. at 2:30 am it's sweltering. no one called me. i went downstairs and no one was there. i had to yell out hello until someone cam in. from outside. they said the JUST found out that a guest had flipped the breaker and it only effected the floor i was on. i asked for another room. they didn't have another room. i asked to comp me and they said they would check into it. i asked for another hotel and they said it was booked up. i called and found 1 room at the hilton down the street and for them to comp me there. they said they could book me a hotel down the street at magnolia. i am infuriated. it is 3am. i have a meeting in 6 hours.

Awesome vibe, such a cool bar. Really cool people. The rooms are awesome. Japanese toilets are a highlight!

Decent location and friendly staff but not many other benefits to staying here IMO. Walls are so thin you can hear the television in the adjacent room and it feels like you're in the room with the person next door- I could even hear the person next door snoring for example. The rooms are very small as the name denotes, but also devoid of natural light and it feels like the bed is practically in the bathroom- because it is. Other small issues were previous guest's hair still on bathroom floor which concerns me regarding level of cleanliness, and the air unit was abnormally loud at random times throughout the night. This place also lacks many simple, standard amenities of a 'hotel' but there's a full service bar downstairs which I guess could be a plus for some. Overall, I think the owner may have envisioned the aesthetic without following through with functionality and comfort. I can't personally recommend this place, but i can see how it may be suitable for some people.

The hotel is amazing and the speakeasy, 520, is so cute and very vibey. The drinks were affordable and some of the best drinks I've ever had. Would absolutely go back!!! It's a must do!

Excellent staff. Terrific location. Family safe and secure rooms are fresh and new. The shower is robust. The toilet is unbelievable.

If I could rate it 10 stars I would!!! The Shrink family is the most welcoming and kindhearted individuals that I've ever come across. They take their time with guests ensuring top tier service. My favorite interaction by far was when they spent 15 minutes handwriting a list of attractions/restaurants/things to do in Dallas (a glimpse to the personable experiences my boyfriend and I had). Overall, I cannot express my gratitude, we will be returning! Don't let the few reviews scare you, they opened in October and are still trying grow their name. If you want luxury and affordability, BOOK!!!!

The customer service and courtesy of the staff is top notch! The hotel is clean and well kept. The service and cleanliness both exceeded my expectations. Two thumbs up for SOVA, I will recommend this hotel when asked for a place to stay in Dallas.
