Surprisingly despite knowing of Sova for quite a few years, we only managed to visit it this week.
On arrival we were seated upstairs as downstairs was already quite full. The condition and decor upstairs was quite poor. It definitely needs a clean on the walls and some paint.
Staff were attentive and friendly throughout which was good. We were a bit disappointed that there were no drink options other than tap water. They did offer corkage for byob but having some non-alcoholic drinks would have been nice. The menu was short but a few options for each course at least.
The starters were nice and well presented. Good portion size. The mains (seitan steak) were also presented well but portions were small and it was lacking in flavour. For desert, we had a chocolate roulade and apple pie. The roulade looked well but was quite bland. The apple pie was OK.
Overall we agreed that the food was presented well, somewhat overpriced for the portion sizes, quite bland tasting, and the restaurant needs a freshen up. Impression was that not much has been done since they opened and other new restaurants have come since which surpass them.
If you care about how your food looks in pictures, this is the place. Aside from that, there are better options in the city.8
