Sozo Hotel

"Only a few years old, this 28-room hotel is set within the soaring space of a nineteenth-century chapel in Nantes, a handsome old port city at the mouth of the Loire that is one of the fastest-growing urban centers in France. Public spaces and guest rooms have bright white walls, cool grey granite pillars, high vaulted ceilings, and a suitably austere ambience. There's not a lick of fanciful, colorful stained glass here."

We stayed here for 4 nights and truly enjoyed every moment. The rooms are beautifully designed with stunning glass features that give a unique atmosphere. Breakfast was absolutely delicious with a great variety of options. The hotel is located right next to a large, beautiful park—perfect for a morning walk. The staff were incredibly warm and welcoming throughout our stay. Highly recommend this beautifully redesigned church hotel

Boutique hotel close to the centre of Nantes. Ideally situated next to the lovely Jardin de Plants. Breakfast was continental style & perfectly nice. However our room was very small and the hotel seemed very small overall. Make sure you reserve a parking space as they only have 4 spaces & nearby parking is extremely limited. Staff were very friendly and, given its central location I would recommend.

Very clean and friendly place with excellent service. A bit out of the way but the decor was great and the wine selection very good. Great for a short stay if you are travelling on or if staying a few days in Nantes. I didn’t have breakfast but from what I saw the selection as excellent.

Room was nice, male staff were nice. Female staff were bad. Upon checking out the female staff with long hair asked me for my room number twice. She still made a mistake and charged me for the wrong room number. A guy had to fix her mistake while she just disappeared. She also asked me for a tip, which I've never heard of before. Also the female cleaner didn't clean our room when we put a sign requesting to make up our room. Please hire more male staff and less female staff.

We are full-time travelers, and Sozo is a unique, bespoke hotel. Whomever came up with the idea of repurposing a church chapel into a hotel is to be highly commended! Lovely touches throughout. Excellent staff and a delightful breakfast. Would happily stay again.

Lovely quirky hotel. Helpful and friendly staff at reception- Maeva especially. Enjoyed a 3 day break in Nantes staying here. Close to delightful Jardin des Plantes and very convenient for the railway station and getting around the centre.

Absolutely loved this boutique hotel. From the time we arrived the staff went out of their way to help us. We were surprised to find a lovely bottle of wine and chocolates for our anniversary in our bedroom when we arrived. Hotel is spotless and breakfast delicious. I would definitely stay there again!

Firstly, the staff. They were very pleasant, helpful and friendly throughout and patient with our French.|The rooms are nicely decorated, bright and, whilst not overly large, quite adequate for a short stay. We were surprised that a property that was very modern, whilst built in an old church, did not have a refrigerator.|If we stayed again, we would opt for one of the rooms with stain-glass windows, a little more expensive but a very nice ambience.|The location suited us ideally, next to a lovely botanical garden, which made for a relaxed walk to the city and walkable to quite a variety of references.

Yelp
Imagine if the set of 2001:A Space Odyssey were plopped into a 16th Century Church--that is the design of the Sozo Hotel in Nantes, France, and it is spectacular! Design is the defining principle at Sozo, but it is matched in excellence by the staff, location, and breakfast. The staff is friendly and speak English. The location, across from the Jardin des Plantes, could not be more amenable, and the breakfast is filled with lovely options. We stayed in a suite with our daughter and it was luxurious--amazing bathtub!--and provided privacy for all of us. Lovely details in furnishings made for a wonderful stay.

Yelp
Beautiful and unexpected, this hotel was an old church/monestary of some kind and has been beautifully restored to show it's brickwork with a lot of white paint & a splash of colour on each floor. (Our floor seemed to have a pink theme). Breakfast was a little pricey and there was no restaurant but room service ran 24 hours a day. We were only here for one night but the location was perfect, close to the trainstation but far enough away that there was no noise, close to the park (which also had a petting zoo, defo worth a visit). All round I'd recommend it, especially having discussed how other people's hotels were that weekend (we were there the night before a festival). Would defo go back to it!
