Stepping into the Spa Hotel Alpina Hida Takayama immediately instilled a sense of anticipation for a wonderful stay, a welcome contrast to the experiences at my previous accommodations in Nagoya and Sapporo. The reception area offered thoughtful touches, including complimentary coffee and green tea available daily. Judging by the initial impression, the hotel's design seemed exceptionally well-considered. The modern digital display was a notable feature, the first I had encountered in my two weeks of travel throughout Japan. The provision of comfortable seating while awaiting the lift was a thoughtful detail. Inside the room, I appreciated the inclusion of a charging cable, an air purifier and ionizer, magnetic cards providing room information, and even luxurious golden slippers. During my two-night stay, the exceptional quality of the Onsen led me to visit it no less than three times. Also, the view of the sunset from the room is very good on the 7th floor.

This is a nice hotel with an excellent location! It's within easy walking distance of major attractions like the pagoda, morning market, and the old town. Plus, there are good restaurants right next door, which is super convenient for meals. They offer paid parking, and if the on-site lot is full, there's another available about 70 meters away. A great base for exploring!

The bathroom in the room was a big small, but the bed was comfortable. The staff was very kind. The breakfast was okay. The spa was wonderful! The baths were large, a nice temperature, and were not crowded. I wish they had used one way privacy film on the outside women's bath, though - you couldn't enjoy the scenery cause the glass is fully frosted and you can't see anything but the white glass. The outside bath with clear glass pictured on the web page is the men's side, according to my husband.

We initially planned to visit Hida Furukawa, but we ended up spending more time than expected in Shirakawago. On a whim, we decided to stay overnight in Takayama. The hotel room here is more spacious compared to the one we had in Nagoya, and the service has been excellent, leaving us very satisfied. Although I didn't get a chance to try their hot spring, I would love to return as we thoroughly enjoyed our one-night stay. The location is convenient, being close to Takayama Station and a 7-Eleven.

The hotel is conveniently located a few minutes walk from Takayama station. It's a pretty small town, so all the main tourist sites are well within comfortable walking distance. ||The unique selling point of this hotel is the sento on the top floor. Taking a hot bath outside in the cold was outstanding. I love sentos so I went here every night I stayed in the hotel. ||The room was immaculately clean. For some reason it had a weird echo, perhaps some decorations on the wall would solve that. Zero noise from the outside at night.||The bed was too hard for my tastes, it was quite uncomfortable. I don't know how many times I have written this in reviews for hotels in mainly Asia, but I can't understand how people invest millions in opening a hotel but skimp on the beds. Too many times I have slept (or tried to sleep) in a continental bed that is missing the top mattress. ||As usual in Japan trying to communicate with hotel staff in English was surprisingly difficult. Luckily one woman working the front desk spoke Spanish, and I know Italian, so it was easier to communicate that way as the languages are similar.

Fairly conveniently located, small room as expected in Japan, excellent public bath, indoor and outdoor option, never used one before and really enjoyed it

Great hotel in central Takayama, with easy walking access to the station, the old town and many restaurants. Nice spa facility on the top floor.
