Spa Montage Laguna Beach

This was my 3rd time visiting this spa and I’m not sure why it’s taken me this long to write a review. I absolutely love Spa Montage! From the attendants in the spa facility to the massage and facial therapists to the staff working at the pool, every time I’ve visited, I’ve been so impressed. Easily my favorite spa in Southern California! That view from the adult/spa pool is hard to beat. It comes at a pretty penny, but so well worth it in my opinion!

We visited the Spa at the Montage Laguna Beach as part of a celebration for my little sister-in-law, our beautiful bride-to-be—and it could not have been a more luxurious, relaxing, and joy-filled experience. From the moment we arrived, the customer service was absolutely outstanding. We were welcomed like VIPs, complete with glasses of bubbly at check-in, and every member of the spa staff made us feel truly special. I was worried that since we were not resort guests that we may have a more limited experience, but I was wrong! We spent the entire day—from 8 AM until the late afternoon—enjoying the world-class amenities, and I cannot overstate how incredible they were. The pool is GLORIOUS, with stunning views and such a serene vibe. There are two whirlpools, a cold plunge, a sauna, steam rooms, and the most thoughtfully stocked locker areas I’ve ever seen. The showers were exquisite, and they had absolutely everything: disposable brushes, hot tools, premium toiletries—you name it. And the massages? Quite literally the best any of us have ever had. All three of us left our treatments floating. My mother-in-law, who has been dealing with recent health issues and a fall, told us it was the first time in a long time she felt genuine relief and looseness in her body. That alone made it worth everything. I had done a ton of research to find the perfect spa experience for this special occasion, and the Spa at Montage absolutely nailed it. From the ambiance to the food service (yes, the poolside lunch was delicious and the service top-tier)—everything was flawless. If you’re looking for a true luxury spa day, look no further. This is the one. Wholeheartedly recommend!

If you're looking for a luxurious spa experience, look no further than the Spa at Montage Laguna Beach. The services here are absolutely top-notch! Every service provider is experienced and truly exceptional at what they do. The massage tables are fully adjustable, warm, and designed for ultimate comfort, especially for those of us who are larger-chested—the adjustable chest area is a total game-changer. Not to mention the breathtaking outdoor relaxation area, which overlooks the ocean, making it a serene escape from the everyday hustle. Rod is my go-to for massages, and he's simply the best. I also have to give a shout-out to Jose, the incredible pool attendant who makes every visit extra special with his attentive service. Whether you're in Laguna Beach or Newport Beach, I can't recommend this spa enough. Treat yourself—you won't be disappointed!

My first time at The Montage and the spa services did not disappoint. I had a massage and Jaclyn was amazing. It’s like she knew exactly where and when to apply less and more pressure without me saying a word. She is a very experienced masseuse and has mastered the art of her profession. Just like a doctor, she just knows exactly where you need relief and she delivers. Jaclyn is very polite and fun to talk to as well, making this experience a truly memorable one. Jaclyn is definitely my “go to” when visiting Laguna from now on. Thank you Jaclyn and Thank You Montage Resort for recognizing the talent that this young lady has, you have a hidden gem as an employee at this resort.

Incredible services and pool! I had a facial and two massages during my stay at the hotel and each one was incredible. When stepping into the spa, I was warmly welcomed each time. The facilities are very clean and comfortable and the pool has an amazing view! I will say that the drink service is incredibly slow out at the pool but that was not due to the staff there- they were all hustling and so helpful! The hotel needs more bartenders, IMO. A huge perk is being able to use the pool if you have services- the pool has an incredible view and is a highlight for sure! Absolutely would return to the spa! Also, great retail items!

First time visiting after many rave reviews. Cameron at the Spa had such amazing customer service I felt like coming before i’d even enjoyed the day. With treatment like that I feel like I didn’t even pay enough. Thanks for being so classy Montage!

I booked a 60 minute massage as a Babymoon treat and arrived as requested at 9:15am for my 9:15am appointment. Despite this punctuality, a queue at check-in meant I wasn't helped until 9:20. By the time I had changed and entered the massage room, it was nearing 9:30. Consequently, the massage was rushed and concluded at 10:15, making my booked 60 minute massage a 45 minute service. When one reserves a 60 minute massage at a 5 star hotel, the expectation is to receive the full intended service. The fact that this wasn’t delivered, despite being charged the full price of $345, made this experience underwhelming and disappointing.

Very UNDERWHELMING spa and experience. The spa is dated and woman’s area very small. One sauna (which was not hot at all). I had to ask a worker about the temperature to which she said “it IS hot😑”. The steam room was not very steamy, and not Eucalyptus scented or anything. The actual massage was even more underwhelming. I had the “Laguna Beach Massage-60 minutes”. The massage lady spent more time playing around with the blankets that are covering me and walking around the bed than actually providing a good massage- well definitely not worth the price. $275 plus 20% service fee, LOL!😳. For what?? Their charge is very deceitful, because they charge the 20% and still have an extra space for gratuity when the 20% is already the gratuity. I paid a lot more for a unsatisfactory service. The small hot tea station had “hot” water sitting out that was literally cold. When I asked the worker lady about the water and why it was cold, she said “I don’t know” and I had to figure out to adjust the kettle temperature myself, yet they work there… so shouldn’t the know that’s how it works?🤔 Finally, the outdoor/coed area. Horrible! Very, EXTREMELY LOUD, packed and not private at all! The Montage Hotel Laguna in general is very public as it is. The spa has the same feel. The pool is just above the public beach walking trail with everyone able to look in and, hence, add to the noise at the spa. Not relaxing, nowhere to lay down. Feels like the main pool at the hotel. Overall, the facilities were unimpressive. The spa was not relaxing. Massage was very bad. Consider going elsewhere.

Always the most peaceful place. If you go in winter you will likely get a clear view of the ocean from the pool deck--make use of it. The services and staff are great, but it's the overall outlay of the space that makes it my favorite. I just came back from a two-day visit to an extremely high rated spa in California and came away disappointed at crowding and noise. Fortunately I have another visit lined up here already! Whenever I want a friend or relative to experience a truly first-class spa I bring them here. We come early and stay late; all of them end up ruined for other places. You can see this in most guests when they are helped out of the treatment room; they barely know where they are and need time to come back to earth. You may occasionally have a chatty group of women in the hot tub, but there are many spaces where you can get away from that kind of noise.

The massage therapists here are amazing, five stars for them but this is an overall review. I strongly advise against purchasing their gift cards. We bought over three $1,000 gift cards and only one was ever usable and even that took an entire day to confirm. Despite having confirmations for all of them, we were never sent QR codes. When I asked for help, they told me we "should have received them" and claimed there was nothing they could do. They promised to follow up but never did. At this point, I've lost $2,000. We have a confirmation email and bank statements that prove this purchase. As regular local customers, this has been extremely disappointing. Shame. We also got pedicures during our visit. One lady was very nice, but the other made many snarky comments. She even commented on our sundresses which were purchased from Nordstrom, modest, formal, and paired with Chanel/Dior footwear saying we were "not dressed nicely enough" to go to any of the restaurants and suggested we skip and come back another time. She said this in a very impolite manner. We ended up going to our reservation at The Loft, and no one there said anything about our attire; they were very welcoming and professional. This kind of false judgment at the spa is not good for business. I'm not trying to flaunt designer clothes we wear normal outfits all the time but that day we were dressed nicely, and her attitude almost made us skip our reservation. Overall, the services themselves are good, but the gift card issue and unprofessional behavior from some staff make it hard to recommend this place.

If the Montage Spa wants more customers, they need to hire people to answer the phone. I tried multiply times Sunday morning to book an appointment and was on hold and then went to a recording. Paying $345 for a 60 minute service warrants phone service.

$375 for a basic massage- I paid $312 all in with tip and everything at the lapis spa in Las Vegas the Fontainebleau which included a hydrotherapy tub, herbal inhalation room, snowfall shower, Himalayan salt room, and a argurmeisterr show. This feels egregious and if they are going to charge Vegas levels prices need to upgrade to Vegas levels amenities.

This is one of the best spas in Southern California, period!!!! The massages are 5 star!!! I've never had a bad one here, ever.....which is very rare at hotels. I went for my Birthday and Neil was absolutely amazing for a deep tissue massage. I want to give a HUGE SPECIAL shout out to Karin at the Spa at the front desk!!!! I hope management at Montage is reading this....MAKE this woman a Manager asap!!!! She is LOVELY and SO wonderful!!!! She made my experience unforgettable and she's an asset to your beautiful hotel!!!! So crazy how I clicked with her!!! What a nice lady that loves what she does!!!! Sadly, even at 5 star hotel, it's rare these days!!!!! She's a gem!!! Love you Karin!!! :-) Thank you Montage Laguna. Your food is amazing. Best lobster salad I've ever had in my life, best drinks at the pool, best spa and spa pool, best piano player and lobby bar, our room was off the charts......I could go on but I think I've made my point! Haha!!! See you in a few months again, you are our favorite staycation! Xoxo!!

Montage properties are a favorite for special occasions, and the Laguna location completely lives up to all expectations

Being able to stay at this property and also go to the spa was definitely a bucket list check off! Everyone at this hotel is so friendly and accommodating and gives you the royal treatment. My husband and I had a couples massage from Kate and Neil and they were excellent! The whole ambiance, locker rooms, showers, lounge area, steam, sauna, jacuzzi, outdoor showers, snacks, hot tea, anything you could want they had! We spent the whole day there using the gym, spa and spa pool which was so beautiful and everyone there was excellent as well! Nathan, at the pool, is amazing! The food was delicious as well from the Mosaic Grille! It was a special birthday for my husband and it didnt disappoint. We hope to make it back again sometime!

Had an amazing massage here and day with my girlfriend. I've been underwhelmed man times from an expensive hotel Massage. Not the case at the montage. The greetings were warm, the ambience was great. And my Masseuse Elvie listened to my requests and made my massage worth every penny. My girlfriend and I came to celebrate our bdays and she also said hers was amazing. Not only that but everyone who walked out was raving about their service, not always the case at hotels. I will Definitely be back. We enjoyed the amenities like the jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. I did not partake in the cold dip pool but others did. The showers and dressing area were very nice also. We ended with lunch and mosaic with beautiful ocean views and it was a great day!

Spa services are amazing. Love Kate. The food has really deteriorated over the last couple of years. I ordered tuna ceviche and I thought it tasted a bit funny. But I was like. They would never serve me old fish I was wrong. I had really bad food poisoning from it. If going there. I would just stick to things u know will have to be fresh and not old.

I booked a pure bliss treatment which includes a polish, wrap and full body massage and it really was pure bliss! Lena was so amazing! I felt so relaxed after. It was the best massage I've ever had. I will book Lena when I do this again. She's such a kind soul and her hands are magic. Spent the day lazing by the pool which had an amazing view. A perfect day.

Loved staying at the Montage itself (see other reviews), but their spa is unfortunately not at the level of their hotel and restaurant. The staff at the spa are quite rushed and seem stressed out. Not the best experience when you're going there to relax. I decided to book a pedicure at their salon, which I thought would count towards my AMEX spa credit through my hotel booking. But read the fine print- anything at the 'salon' is a different category and doesn't count as part of the 'spa' credit. This would be okay if the pedicure had been the level I expected for the premium price. However, it was very disappointing and I've had better pedicures for as low as $50. The woman who did my pedicure barely buffed my feet. I'm talking less than 5 seconds. She also didn't do a great job cleaning up excess skin around the nail. Her painting skills were great- pedicure itself looked good. She never returned to put on my sandals for me, which is standard practice at any level of salon, whether you're spending $40 or $100+. I ended up putting them on myself and leaving. She had been cleaning in the back since they were technically closed by the time my pedicure ended. Just a waste of money and not a Montage experience. I wouldn't waste time or money on their spa.

Keep in mind if you are coming here it is in a 5-star hotel so expect 5-star pricing, but also 5-star service. Out of respect for everyone and to relax they ask that you refrain from cellphone usage and taking photos in the massage/spa area. We decided to splurge and get pampered for an hour. I'll walk you through my experience step-by-step to help you decide if you want to come and what to expect, and you won't get lost (will explain so keep reading). Upon check-in with the reception team they review what you requested and gender of your masseuse. If everything is good you then complete payment, they automatically add 20% service fee for gratuity, but you can adjust later. They then walk you over to the entrance to your gender's changing room. In the changing room you pick a locker that has a robe in it and asked if you would like footwear to wear during your stay. The robe is sooo comfortable! You select your own combination for locker. Upon finishing getting changed you go into the waiting room (across from the outdoor spa, I may have gotten lost looking around for it). There are teas, fruit, and dried fruit to enjoy while you wait for your masseuse to come pick you up. This room is very spacious and comfortable. Once your masseuse comes to get you they take you into a hallway to go to your room. If you are getting a couples massage you will meet each other in this hallway. In your room you will go over pressure preferences, focus areas, and any issues or medical conditions/allergies. They will then leave you to undress to your comfort level and get under the blanket. They then reenter. The beds are heated and can be adjusted upon request. You start facedown and then roll over to finish up. After I rolled over onto my back and some focus massage my masseuse placed a heated pillow or towel (I was in bliss so did not pay too much attention) that felt great. After massaging my feet they wrapped my feet in a warm towel. Once the massage is over they give you water and something to snack on and leave the room for you to get dressed. Once back in the hallway they walk you back to the changing rooms. If you had couples massage with different gender individual ensure to coordinate with them of when to meet up as you each have access a sauna and hot tub (outside) in the locker room. Overall a very relaxing experience with top notch service.

Just like the OC TV show said it's a retreat from reality. Got to jump in hot tubs, go for a nice swim, food drink delivery to your seat facing the ocean, nice free yoga in the morning, free coffee in the morning, amazing views and nice bathroom. Only complaint is the bed was too soft. Would be awesome if front desk ask our bed firmness preference

Perfection from beginning to the end of my visit. The spa is gorgeous and the staff is phenomenal Very attentive. The place is spotless and well maintained. This definitely one of my favorite places yo ho when I am looking to relax pamper myself.

Wow! My first experience here and I can't wait to return. I had a prenatal massage with Melissa. The amount of relief she was able to provide for me, I have no words and all gratitude. Definitely going to incorporate this massage with my pregnancy. The spa itself is quiet, serene, and relaxing. Ample water and snack stations, cleanliness all around, and the best part--feminine energy all around you.

This place has always been on my bucket list, so what great time to spend a day there then on your bday! It was a bustling Monday morning, despite me thinking there wouldn't be a lot of people. Was greeted at the front with a smile and a glass of non-alcoholic beverage (upon my request). Was given a quick tour of the spa, taken to the locker, and left to my own leisure. I lounged in the waiting room, took a dip in the whirlpool/jacuzzi (SO RELAXING), and grabbed some yummy snacks and delicious tea from the table. My 60 min massage with aromatherapy was DIVINE! It was the best massage I've ever gotten. My massage therapist was SO SO SWEET and accommodating. I wanted firm pressure and it was delivered, along with AMAZING smelling aromatherapy oils. And then afterwards I went to the spa pool overlooking the ocean and just relaxed. It was a great day and albeit the interior waiting room being a little outdated with the décor, the LOCATION and views of this place is what give it it's 5-star rating. Yes, it's pricey (the food for a measly burger on the patio was $32!!!), but it was a treat yourself day, and I definitely will be back. Plus, valet was complimentary when you go to the spa! Had a great overall time and definitely felt like a luxurious place. The only thing they can improve on is reminding women in the spa to keep quiet voices, as some come in groups and lack the awareness to talk quietly as it's supposed to be a relaxing environment.

It was worth the time and $$$ spent here at the spa. Purchasing an hour of massage or facial here allows you to use the spa for the entire day.  They open at 8 and close at 7pm. The spa also maintains the fitness center and pool.  My favorites here are their amenities like spa pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool and cold plunge.  I had booked a 60 minute massage and it was divine.  My therapist Nuch, was excellent with bedside manners, listening to requests and recommendations for after massage care.  The group fitness room also has a view of the ocean and I loved staring at it while doing yoga.  I started my day by taking one of their yoga classes, followed by a sauna/cold plunge before my massage treatment.  After my massage, I was recommended by the therapist to utilize the sauna/steam room for at least 20 minutes.  After that I was blissfully relaxed and even napped in the lounge room.  The women's lounge was perfect to relax and restore.   All of their staff are extremely helpful and attentive.  I can't wait to come back here and definitely recommend visiting here during weekdays if you live locally to avoid traffic in the spa area during weekends.

I came in for a spa Montage pedicure today. It's a 75 minute pedicure, and I loved it. Aurora did an amazing job. Her foot/leg massages are to die for! Do yourself a favor and request Aurora for your next manicure and pedicure. Hanna gave me the perfect cut and blow dry as a last-minute appointment. She was a talented delight. Love her. Their retail area is dangerous. Great selection of merch. Everyone was attentive and polite. Excellent customer service throughout the Montage Hotel property. You'll get complimentary valet parking when you visit the spa, so don't forget to get your valet ticket stamped. Spa treatments are extremely expensive, but worth it if you want to splurge. Laguna Beach.....always fun and charming....

Complete tranquility except for the loud garbage cans and no recycling! It really does startle you when they slam shut. Will I come back, most definitely!!

I want to commend Laurel and Courtney for their outstanding service that was extended to me yesterday. Laurel is the most talented and amazing stylist. She gave me a haircut that is truly stunning. I never leave negative reviews but wowww was this place disappointing. My masseuse didn't show up, replacement masseuse cut my massage short (even though I was told it wouldn't be due to starting late), only three showers so very long line, showers aren't clean, shower faucet coming off of wall, shampoo/conditioners were empty, rude attendants. This place needs a serious overhaul. A remodel is long overdue and the amenities are lacking. I've spent less money elsewhere & had way better spa experiences. Save your money.

I wanted to buy a gift certificate as a gift and the spa refused to accommodate my request over the phone. Further, even if I did order it online, they refused to send me the gift card and instead offered me the equivalent of an online coupon a la Panda Express. And to top things off, the woman working at the spa was rude. AVOID!!!

What a beautiful and spacious spa! All of the employees are also quite pleasant. My massage was phenomenal and I felt very zen and relaxed after. Since I live so close, I can see myself heading to spa montage any time I need a little TLC. Now that I've had my baby, super excited to try the hot tub and steam room!!

I generally don't like to write negative reviews but for a 5 star spa I wanted to write an honest review with the hope to see improvements for future customers as one should expect near perfection given the premium price. Positives: 1. Cleanliness- from a cleanliness standpoint zero complaints. Everything was clean and organized throughout the facility. 2. Facilities- nice sauna, steam room and jacuzzi area. Negatives: 1. Service- got there around 10am and there was no service attendant in the mens locker room to provide a tour of the facilities, something that is pretty standard for high end places. Also basics were not in place such as water bottles or water pitcher. It was 10am, 2 hours after open so it would be expected that these basic items would be in place. On the female side the service was better according to my girlfriend who was even offered champagne and mimosa. 2. Maintenance- I noticed that one of the lights in the steam room was turning on and off constantly, clearly in the need of maintenance. Again for a high end place like this the last thing you want is to be sitting in the steam room and watching the light constantly turn on and off like you're in a nightclub. 3. Therapy room mood lighting- Paying $400+ for a massage is not something most people do often. The room we received service in was lit, music inaudible and we could hear voices outside of the door likely employees. Again not what I would expect for a 5 star resort where I expect to enter a tranquil environment to relax. Would I go back in the future? Yes as I believe all of the above can be corrected with more attention. But for a premium place like this I think it's important to pay attention to the details.

The manager of Montage Laguna Beach replied to my call and we talked about the pool rules. They changed the rules back to the old ones, which means visitors staying at the spa and the hotel can use any chair they prefer. The manager also requested me to inquire about this during my next visit, so I'll keep you updated.

Hair dresser: Angela I needed a haircut and I wanted to treat myself by going somewhere really nice for it. Haircuts are supposed to range from $125-$200 at the Montage depending on length (or that's what they say). Pretty sure they always charge $200 so they get the full $40 tip- they charge 20% automatically. She was way too rough with my scalp when she washed it. Then she blow dried and cut my hair dry- which made my hair look like it had no volume, when in fact my hair is waaay thicker than most. She said she cuts everyone's hair dry. Then she was asking for plant advice. I was talking to her giving her tips on her plants for about twenty minutes thinking maybe this will benefit me too. At some point I didn't know an answer to one of her questions and she responded, 'well shouldn't you know that'? So she insulted me. The haircut really was average and I would never go again.

We had deep tissue messages with Kate and Diana and they were absolutely amazing. We get a lot of massages, they both blew us away and we were upset that we didn't book the 90min. When we come back we will definitely book with them again. Thank you to Cali and Dandee for helping me book the treatments they were both wonderful.

Spent my birthday here and it was the best one I've had in a long time! The amenities were amazing and it was very clean. The staff was fabulous at assisting with any questions or requests. The massage I had was the best in my life (and I used to work at a spa). I purchased oil from Lola's apothecary and some shampoo/conditioner by kiersten Florian. Had amazing brands for retail.

Quiet disappointed. I live in the area and have been going to the Montage restaurants and Spa 4 years now. Since the pandemic ended and things started returning to business as usual, Spa Montage has NOT. They have taken shortcuts in everything. The spa itself is unkept most of the time (I thought it was only that one time I was there) today it was no different. I even asked the front desk before checking in if the amenities in the spa were back as they used to be; I was assured that it was and of course it wasn't. 1. Showers were left dirty, towels on the floor from previous user. 2. Bathrooms missing toilet paper. 3. Overall stench. 4. Rest area rug is filthy, lounge chairs dirty. 5. Tea caddy poor, no nuts, poor tea selection, overall aesthetics poor! 6. Why why why have the robe pockets been sown closed? No point. Can't hold a phone or key or anything. 7. The Sandals are hideous and uncomfortable, what was wrong with the brown ones you used to have. If it ain't broke don't fix it. 7.b) why aren't you offering disposable bikinis anymore? And razors? little things are are appreciated when paying $400+ for a basic facial! Management needs to step it up. The prices certainly haven't gone down but the place has? It simply doesn't match the ambiance nor service to be quiet honest. Montage is better than this. Do better please.

10/10. Best hot stone massage Ive had. Staff was so sweet and accommodating, especially on pool side service. Love the private jacuzzi, mist room and sauna. Plus the spa is very clean and well taken care of. Thank you Montage!!

I'm at the spa montage today with my wife for a little staycation spa getaway! I wouldn't normally post a review while I am still here BUT I have to.... The locker room attendant, "Joe C", is going over and beyond in the Customer Service category today! And not just for me. I see him going over and beyond for everyone in here today. I know some would say, "well that's his job" but it's like he actually CARES! You can totally tell when someone is "phoning it in". Not Joe C. He has a passion for serving others. I would even say that he is channeling Napoleon Hill by "providing more service than for which one is paid for". Great job Joe C! Keep it up buddy and you will go far in this world.

Bradley and Eric are the best massage therapists in the world. You will not find a better massage anywhere in the world.

This is my boyfriend and my absolute favorite way to spend the day! A good spa day followed by sitting out by the private spa pool with an ocean view. All the staff is so great, especially Britt. She is always so welcoming and friendly and we honestly just come here to hang out with her. Services and food are the best around. I've never had a better facial and he has never had a better massage. Every. Time. No other hotel compares!

Beautiful and tranquil spa located in Laguna beach resort. Worth it for a visit if you are staying at the hotel or if you are just looking for a relaxing experience. The attendants do an amazing job welcoming guests. Guests receive a locker to place belongings in, you make up a combo on a lock so you don't need to carry a key with you. There's areas to relax before your service with fresh tea and treats and magazines. There's a great sauna and steam room along with a hot tub and cold plunge bath. This is such an amazing treatment for your mental and physical health I highly recommend taking part in all the spa has to offer! There's a separate pool for the spa goers as well. The massages I've had were super relaxing. They use a variety of oils during the massage, each has soothing properties which help enhance the effects of the massage. They add gratuity of course, which is actually helpful so that the masseuses receive adequate tips! It's the best place to splurge on a self care day with girl friends or on your own. Beautiful location at the Montage and peaceful setup in the spa.

This is a true 5 star luxury hotel spa with all the amenities and great service. Upon arrival, the valet to concierge are welcoming. Note valet is free for the spa. The staff at the spa are very nice as well. Locker rooms are impeccable and there's a sauna, steam room and hottub that are nicely sized. I got here at 10 am on a Saturday to get a pool lounger before treatments at 2 pm. Even at 10, the first row was taken! The service is impeccable with water glasses filled at all times. Lunch was absolutely delicious. My husband said it was the best calamari he's ever had! Fish sandwich and poke bowl were also excellent. Do beware of the seagulls stealing food! Prenatal couples massage was amazing. The room was super quiet with relaxing music. You couldn't hear anything from the hallway. Highly recommend the splurge and making a day out of going here!

Spa Montage is a lovely resort and the location is unbeatable. I love coming here for a relaxing retreat, however I have noticed many changes over the last several years, including multiple changes in spa leadership which have had an impact on the overall experience. Pros: Friendly receptionists and spa staff, validated parking, aesthetically lovely pool area for lunch after services, great amenities, and highly skilled massage therapists. Cons: Noise. I was really surprised on my last visit the attendants in the locker room were talking really loudly to each other at various points during my visit even about things like inventory on Q-tips and toilet paper, these are discussions that should have occurred with normal indoor voices. In addition some of them were having loud conversations with guests in the locker room and quiet waiting area- this was really disruptive to what should be a peaceful environment. With regards to the pool area, although very lovely with its proximity to the ocean, the attentiveness and courteousness of the attendants has gone down compared to previous years, and they are understaffed. In addition to this they are somehow not connected to the spa with regards to payment, so you have to bring a separate form of payment which is not disclosed until you get there, and they open a tab even if you're just getting food, which honestly came across as distrust of the guest. Not very happy with that experience. Used to spend all day in the pool area, not anymore. In the sink area in the locker rooms, they used to have small hand towels for use after hand washing but instead transitioned to paper towels. The small hand towels were more elegant and refined, just my humble opinion. Overall a great experience but definitely areas for improvement.

I had a consult with Hanna for a haircut and showed her pictures of what I had in mind. I came back 30 minutes later for my cut and had a complete hair transformation. She has such positive energy and talent. I felt like a million dollars after my haircut. Stacey at the reception area was so warm and welcoming and Cameron who helped me book the appointment was great. Yes, it was $200 for the cut but, you can be assured that Hanna knows what she is doing. She put me at ease and it was one of the highlights of my trip. Highly recommend!

I recently had the opportunity to visit Spa Montage and I loved the experience. Although the atmosphere was a tiny bit stuffy, I feel that this was more due to the clientele than the staff, who were very friendly and explained everything and gave a little tour. The spa areas are beautiful, clean, and comfortable. I went in the whirlpool which has a little garden adjacent to it with lounge chairs. My massage therapist was Eva, who was AMAZING. She has such a wonderful healing touch that relaxed and re-energized me at the same time, and is a lovely person to boot. I would go back and I would ask for her in a hot second. Only suggestion is that you have some product for hair care (gel, mousse, detangler, whatever) available after you get out of the shower (shower product is awesome by the way). It is a fancy, high-end spa, but don't be intimidated even if you are not fancy or high-end (I am not). It's also quite expensive for the services, so it was definitely a splurge, but worth it. Oh, there was one more thing: the not-optional gratuity of $75 automatically tacked on, which I didn't appreciate. Let us choose our own gratuity amount and let us give it to the staff that deserves it.

While the facilities themself are clean & nice, the treatments are always, always subpar for the crazy prices they charge. I've tried 4-5 facials there over the years with different esthetician's. For $500 plus surcharge fees, they gently slap some creme on your face and that's about it. The session is shorter than it should be and always feels like a waste of time & money.

Lena deserves a 100/10 review for the excellent job she did. I took a 60 min massage with her and she was beyond amazing. She kept checking in to make sure that the pressure was just right, and when I did ask for a little more pressure she eased in to it to find the right pressure I was comfortable with. I felt very relaxed and wished I got a longer massage! Definitely will recommend her, and if you are staying at the resort and want the ultimate relaxation, go see Lena, I guarantee you won't regret it.

I surprised my husband with a spa day here. The spa facilities are a good size, beautiful and well kept... at least for the women. There is a dry sauna and steam room as well as a jacuzzi and cold plunge pool. On the ladies' side, the staff did a great job making sure wet floors were wiped, snacks and drinks were stocked and towels stocked and cleared away. I really enjoyed the facilities but unfortunately my husband did not have the same experience on the mens' side. The snacks were empty, hot water was empty, dirty towel and robe baskets overflowing and clean towels unavailable. Quite frankly, for the price Spa Montage charges for their services and considering this spa day was a gift to my husband, I was extremely disappointed to hear that this was his experience. We let the front desk know before we checked out. Hopefully they see this as well and make significant changes. The 90-min couples massage, however, was fantastic. The room was beautifully decorated with rose petals too, a nice touch. Once our massage treatments were finished we headed out to the lap pool and jacuzzi co-ed area to catch the sunset. Great atmosphere and very relaxing place for a high end spa experience. Just wish it was consistent on both sides. I left completely satisfied whereas my husband felt like Spa Montage fell short.

So very disappointed- first time visit and the very last time- The massage table was very uncomfortable- Massage oil had a stale odor- and made me itchy- I just wanted to go home and scrub it off- Massage therapist had bad breath- have you ever had a massage - tried to relax while holding your breath- not enough words- I treated my good friend to a spa day for her birthday- we both left sad! And she never did receive her birthday champagne! This could have been an amazing experience- management you need a strategic fixing up!

Definitely worth it. I took off work for a relaxation mental health day and booked the Laguna massage. From valet, check-in, my massage therapist Missy, and my server Shane everything was spot on. The spa was clean and quiet. I used the steam room, sauna and hot tub. My massage was relaxing and quiet. Thereafter I headed out to the spa pool for some wine and lunch. I a had the Caesar salad. It was fresh and the chicken was nicely grilled. Valet was complimentary and they even called for my car as I left the spa so I wouldn't have to wait. I will definitely be back. I want to thank everyone for their excellent service.

My masseuse herself was really great, the spa is nice and amenities are great. However the day of my treatment they were what sounded like installing a cabinet in the room next to me, it was extremely loud and noisy and my masseuse had to turn up the spa music volume to try to mask it but it just was not a relaxing environment. I was very understanding about how the noise level was out of my massage therapists control, she did step out halfway through to try to stop the repair, she also mentioned that they would discount my service but after viewing my receipt they did not do that. To spend over $300 I would expect a bit more relaxing experience. I'm not certain why they were doing this repair during a very busy afternoon. The spa was quite crowded and there was not enough seating in the lounge area for all of the clients with many people sharing a lounger. They should either stagger their appointments better or increasing the seating area

This review and rating is specifically for a massage therapist Eva C. On Dec 2nd Eva worked a miracle on me. I've had a bad shoulder for over a year and a half. I couldn't reach for anything and doing small chores around the house were very painful. Despite almost 6 month of PT and multiple massage session it was Eva who in just 60 minutes took care of my problem. I left there not sure how I would be feeling but I woke up the next day 90% better and almost 6 weeks later I am still doing well. I want to Thank Eva C. so hopefully she will read this review. Thank you Eva from the bottom of my heart for working on my shoulder and making it feel better when everything else had failed. You are the angel I was waiting for. Also to Eva's manager, she's a gem!! As far as the SPA, everyone was very friendly, the atmosphere wonderful, from the locker room to the waiting area. I can't comment on the shower area or the other facilities as I did not use them Thanks again Eva!!

Hands down the best spa and massage! I've been to other high end spas in different parts of the world and this one was by far one of the best and most memorable. Because the massage was so great it was even better than Terranea. The staff was amazing, facilities were great. It gets an extra star because they have a spa outdoor pool where you can order drinks and food by looking out at the beautiful ocean. They also validate valet parking with your service and you can use their amenities (like spa pool and gym) all day the day of service. I would definitely come back here again and it was worth the steep cost for the massage.

I do regular spa days with my girlfriends. I want to give Spa Montage 5 stars bc I like the amenities (saunas, cold plunge, spa, pool with poolside food service). But one of my gf's and I were instead sitting by the pool talking about how rude Coco was. My friend and I paid way too much for a body scrub to walk right into inferior service by Coco. That we drove all the way to Laguna for instead of staying in Newport. We gave Coco our 1:45 pm appt time for both of our body scrubs as well as our first and last names each and although our appts were in there she was relentlessly asked us who booked it. I had to look in my phone and finally told her (after she was badgering us for who booked us) in order to get her to stop I finally told her that Aubrey confirmed my appt and not sure who booked. She said she needed to know bc she needed to know what card they put down for us (we arrived way before our appt so we weren't late). Not sure her obsession bc my friend and I both had our cards out to pre-pay for our services like she required. So why badger us for who booked it like it's a requirement for us to know. My gf and I went to Pendry Newport Beach Spa 2 weeks ago and I got a body scrub and detox there and no one hammered me on who booked the appt. We are paying full price so Coco is odd. I went to Pelican Hill two months ago and no one asked it either. Both are really nice spas. My friend mentioned that Coco also talked rudely & condescendingly to one of the young girls there behind the counter. Similar to the condescending snobby air she had with us. It was really uncomfortable. We are there at the spa to RELAX not receive crappy service that makes us uncomfortable. When I left I had to wait for a long time at the counter while Coco was the only person right behind the counter acting like she didn't see me and looking down doing something not acknowledging me at all. One of the young girls had to come from the back and validate my ticket for me. Everyone else was great except her. We are going to do next girls day at a diff spa
