Loved our recent stay here in a private room with shared bathroom. The room itself was quite small but comfortable and had decent storage space. The TV in the room was great to have as well. All the facilities in the building were great and kept clean. We didn’t use the gym but that’s great to have, nor did we use the kitchen but it looked a large space with plenty of units. It didn’t really feel like a hostel or a hotel, just a nice well kept shared accommodation space so whether you’re here short term or long term it has everything you need. The only issue we had was being unable to change or turn off the temperature in the room so it was often quite warm at night. Other than that though we loved our stay.

I had a shared 2 bed dorm which was comfortable and clean. It’s well located 5 minutes walk from Melbourne central metro station and lots of shops. There are plenty of shower rooms and toilets to use and a well equipped big kitchen. My food seemed to get moved around a lot in the fridge and I was constantly looking for my bag which had my name on it which is the norm in hostels. There were more than 9 refrigerators so it got a bit annoying. There is a great rooftop area with jacuzzi type tub and a cool view of skyline. There was a bit of drug activity here and a long term resident was trying to push methamphetamine on me which was a little alarming. Not sure if I was just unlucky but at 59 was a bit surprised a younger guy was offering me this. It didn’t spoil my experience but the very odd roommate did but just the luck of the draw when sharing a room. There was a rather unhelpful receptionist who sat knitting and when I commented she seemed uninterested in assisting me she informed me she was not yet on duty. Perhaps the management should provide a knitting room as very unprofessional image. The other reception staff were helpful however. All in all a good value option.

Space is absolutely incredible! It’s immaculately clean, with super comfortable beds and top-notch facilities. The gym, cozy cinema, and the impressively large, well-equipped kitchen are standout features. The rooftop, complete with a jacuzzi, is an absolute gem. The staff are amazing, and the management deserves major credit for creating such an exceptional experience. Plus, you can still use the facilities after checking out, which is a fantastic touch. Hands down, the best hostel in Melbourne!

I loved my stay at Space. The location is perfect, right in the city and walking distance to everything. The beds were super comfy, the rooms spotless, and the views of the Melbourne skyline from my window were unreal.||The hotel has so many great shared spaces including a huge kitchen, gym, cinema, lounges, and an awesome rooftop to chill or watch the sunset. Everything was really well maintained and super clean.||The staff were genuinely lovely and helpful, and you can tell the management really care. I also loved the little extras they offer like free BBQ on Saturdays, free brekky on Sundays, and even free fruit every morning to start the day off right. The events made it easy to meet people too.||Couldn’t recommend this place more. It’s not just a hostel, it’s an experience. Will definitely be back!

Incredible panoramic view of the city on the rooftop and shared kitchen balcony. Great facilities, huge shared kitchen, jacuzzi and large outdoor sitting area outside the kitchen and on the rooftop both with great views of the city. Private rooms are just like a higher end fancy hotel. Very clean, very friendly staff. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Booked a few nights at Space Hotel to celebrate something special and honestly, it was spot on. It’s more of a hostel vibe than a hotel, which I actually loved — super social, heaps of friendly people around, and plenty of good energy.||Staff were absolute legends. They really went above and beyond and even pointed me to some great local eats. The rooftop hot tub was a ripper — nothing better than soaking up the city views up there. Bed was comfy, room was clean as, and the whole place is kept in great nick. Bathrooms and shared spaces were always tidy too.||Loads of activities going on, which made it easy to meet people and have a bit of fun.||Big thanks to the whole team and management — you’ve got a great thing going. Would happily stay again!

I stayed at Space Hotel Melbourne from July 18 to 20 and had a wonderful experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready to help with a smile. Everything was clean and well-maintained, and I didn’t encounter a single issue during my stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Melbourne. I’ll definitely be back!

Space Hotel is an incredible place to stay. The staff are amazing, especially Maren, who went out of her way to make my stay special. She even knitted me a pair of socks for winter, which was so thoughtful. The management really does a fantastic job keeping everything running smoothly. The rooftop is one of the best features, with stunning views of Melbourne, a jacuzzi, a gym, and a cinema. The events are great too, including jazz nights, a free BBQ every Saturday, free breakfast on Sundays, and a pub crawl every Friday that’s so much fun. The rooms and bathrooms are always clean, the beds are comfortable, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. It’s great value for money, and I’d recommend booking directly for the best rates!

Yelp
Shocking customer service. Receptionists are rude. Supposedly bathrooms are cleaned. This was not so. Poor treatment. Low quality. Please do not spend your money here!

Yelp
This is a compact hotel that is sparing in most things found in larger chains. However it is reasonably price ,well looked after, busy and convenient. The showers are along the hallway and if you are an early riser you don't need to wait. I found it quite funny that I booked in for one and when I walked into my room there was a single bed. I haven't slept in a single bed since being a kid. Well I had a goodnight sleep and that's what is important.

Yelp
Location, location, location!! I had a private room with a deck while staying in Melbourne. I was able to walk to everything ( bus, museum, QVM) and since it's by the huge library I was able to use it as a reference point when lost. There was always staff at the desk. There's a huge kitchen if you wanted to cook your own items. My only real complaint is that the AC would not work at times which made my room pretty stuffy. The room doesn't appear to be the cleanest also but for the price it seems justifiable. I would stay here again.

Yelp
This hostel (why is called a hotel?) is one of the best hostels I've stayed at. Clean and a ton of amenities. Fitness room, movie room, coffee station, rooftop deck, this place has almost everything. What they don't have, though, is a friendly hostel staff. Upon check-in I was told the next night was available, but when I came back an hour later they had booked it. Most hostels I've stayed at have friendly staff that try to accommodate their existing guests and actually feel bad when they book a room out from under them. Not here... they just wanted to start an argument. Shame on them.

Yelp
Stayed there with a couple friends after a friends wedding. The rooms were really nice, had everything we needed. The space bar downstairs was a lot of fun, the food at the bar was super cheap comparing to other places we ate in australia. We met a lot of other people that were traveling and we hung out with them. The reception was really helpful in advising us where to go touring and party. They have many amenities, huge communal kitchen, a movie room, a full gym, rooftop deck with Jacuzzi, I didn't get to use all those amenities but it is sure nice to have them. I will post pics to yelp, as soon as I can

Yelp
In my opinion if a hotel offers a service, it should do it well or not at all. While the cleanliness of this place was spot on, the bar being really cheap and fun the bathrooms were fitted with soap dispensers which had been watered down by the hotel to presumably save money. If you want to stay clean at this place, bring your own soap! Walking distance to the Melbourne Museum, the free city circle tram, the IMAX theatre and the Exhibition building. All interesting tourist destinations.

Yelp
Space Hotel is probably the best hotel I have stayed in within Australia and internationally. Space hotel was an amazing experience just because of the market target; guests were staying at this hotel who came from around the world, and I met some interesting people. It is also the best because of the price and location. Close to big malls, markets, trams and restaurants to gain the full melbourne experience. I stayed with a friend and we booked a room without a bathroom to save money (bathrooms Inc showers are located on each floor for guests, mainly for backpackers). When we checked in we were upgraded to a room with a bathroom for free. The staff were super friendly. We had a tiny issue with our spa bath plug not fitting and they did what they could to get one! It's just an amazing atmosphere being there, talking to people on the roof top Jacuzzi area or smoking areas, passing by through the guest kitchen or even having a drink with someone at the bar! I guess if you're the antisocial type like me (I talked to people due to amazing pizzas and drinks at the bar) then you can just pretend not to speak English. =p If you're looking for cheap, clean and amazing accommodation I highly recommend Space Hotel and there needs to be more of them around Australia! There is also a movie room.. Whaaaat?! Yes you can flick foxtel for an awesome movie, a space to chill. If you want to be active there is even a gym! Pack your tights, ladies.

Yelp
If you spend enough time staying in hostels, it's hard to go back to the stuffy, starched sheeted, uniformed weirdness of big corporate hotels. But still, I always feel some hesitation when booking a hostel sight unseen as the quality can vary so dramatically and the websites don't always give the full picture. At the Space Hotel, I stayed in an executive suite, with a weekly rate of mostly $119 a night, and I could not have been happier with everything I got for such a reasonable price. I would go out of my way to stay here again. The room: My exec room was very spacious and I love that you get a private fridge and tea kettle. I also had an amazing city view of downtown and the state library. Sure, there are some things to figure out with using the key card to turn on the room's tv and power outlets, but hey, you're on vacation for adventure, right? Also, everything seemed clean an in order to me. Service: The people at the front desk practically climb over the counter to draw you maps of all the awesome Melbourne haunts that are just a short walk away, and they are there 24 hours a day. The very comprehensive manual in your room also has insights for every aspect if your stay, from cheap, close parking to laundry, and much, much, more. And while I can't speak for the shared rooms or bathrooms, everything I saw was clean and tidy and well thought out. Location: A 2 block walk from this quiet hotel and you are basically in the center of everything. In this neighborhood there are amazing little finds like Trunk (restaurant), League of Honest Coffee, Manchester Press. And if you need free free wifi, good coffee and a picturesque place to work, head over to the beautiful state library just down the street. Added bonus, they have exhibits on Australian history and writing. The hotel is also right across from the lovely grounds of a historic prison, and down the street from the rolling hills of a nice city park. So if you start feeling guilty about all that great Melbourne food you've been eating, you can go for a run. Transportation: 6 minute walk will take you to 4 car rental places all next to each other. You are also walking distance from trams - though I found that I could easily walk to just about everywhere I wanted to go. Major +++s: Space Hotel has an awesome rooftop deck overlooking a beautiful view of the city! And there is a mini theatre in this place!! And did I mention the jacuzzi?? No, not the one on the 8th floor overlooking downtown (!!!), I mean the jacuzzi tub in your bathroom. There is also a large shared kitchen and dining area, and washers and dryers w/ a change machine on that same floor. Finally, the front desk will loan you all the stuff you forgot - an iron, your hairdryer, utensils for the huge shared kitchen. (Americans, don't forget to bring a wash cloth)

Yelp
Well, I have grown strong interests in giving reviews on Yelp. Let's Tonight be the night of review spree! Space Hotel is reasonably priced for all types of customers, especially students. There are many facilities including the gym, kitchen, lounge, bar and many more. The reception was helpful and friendly upon my arrival. They have checked me in early, so I can place my luggages in the room before heading to the city! I have chosen twin rooms and most of its amenities are newly allocated and the television works perfectly after your shower rest. The only disappointment is that my twin room does not have a personal bathroom. Ohh well, it's business... Trading-offs are common when you want cheap stays. Definitely staying here again as I can book for rooms with personal bathrooms and amazingly they come in good values!
