Horrible experience using the metro here. A clearly full carriage and being pushed further into people by a woman with a pushchair who just shouted and shouted about their not being enough space.

This metro station has a serious pickpocketing problem. I witnessed a young woman (early to mid-20s) attempt to steal from someone’s handbag. Fortunately, locals and I noticed what was happening and quickly alerted the victim, which caused the pickpocket to back off and walk away. Be extremely cautious with your belongings here. If you read the other reviews, you'll see this isn't an isolated incident, pickpocketing at this station is a frequent issue.

Located on the Metro A Line 🟠🚇, Spagna is a station that is within minutes of walking distance from the Spanish Steps and the Church of Trinità dei Monti at the top of the steps. These are located on the Piazza di Spagna (Spanish Square). It is very busy station during rush hours so always keep your belongings near to you and keep your eyes on them. Wear your backpack on your front and have an RFID blocking wallet/passport cases with you if you need to carry any documents with you. Better to keep those in your hotel/stay actually. Don't flash any valuables like expensive watches or anything while travelling. You will become a target. There are pickpockets on the trains. Be careful and enjoy your travels!

This is a great Central location in Rome to hang out on the evening with great restaurants, shopping and people watching.

Negative Review for Piazza di Spagna Our experience at Piazza di Spagna was extremely upsetting. My father was pickpocketed right before we entered the metro. The area was overcrowded, likely due to the rain, and as we tried to board the metro, we were pushed by people rushing in. In the chaos, someone stole my father's wallet. What made things even worse was the complete absence of police or security, both in the square and inside the metro. When we needed help, there was no one to assist us. The lack of crowd control and the presence of so many pickpockets made the experience very stressful. I strongly advise visitors to be extra cautious and keep their belongings safe.

There is a pickpocketing issue in this metro station. I still can’t understand how police can’t stop them. This situation made our Rome trip worse cause we don’t remember Rome with good memories

Very nice square with restauranta and fountains

Beware pickpockets! Caught a team reaching into my boyfriend’s (empty) jacket pocket. Partner tried to distract me when I started shouting out about it. Not fooling this American…. Followed them out of the subway car at Spagna and they quickly jumped into the next car. Security standing right there, told them…and they did absolutely nothing.
