The hotel is linked to a public swimming pool/sauna (called Spa Hamina) by a bridge.
At your check in the hotel will offer the wristband for the spa for €10 which is the key for you to be able to use the lockers of the spa (and you can keep it throughout the duration of your stay). The €10 is not the entrance fee for the SPA, the bridge gives you access straightaway with your room card, but if you don’t buy the €10 wristband you will not be able to use the lockers, your belongings will be just there at the changing room. Said that, at the entrance of the swimming pool the same wristband costs €6, but you have 2h to return it.
I am making this clear because I read some reviews here and thought the hotel was being kind of smart, but not really.
The hotel is simple, decor on the 3rd floor is quite old fashioned but what else isn’t in the city? Hamina doesn’t come across very modern anyway. Everything works perfectly, it’s super clean, breakfast is included, simple but with a great range of options, there’s coffee and tea available during the whole day. Staff is somewhat nice, maybe shy sometimes for not being super fluent in English but very helpful. It’s well located, close to supermarkets and the main tourist points in Hamina, and they let me use the bikes to explore around. I loved my stay here and would repeat if I have the chance.
