Špajza Restaurant

Spajza is one of my favorite restaurants in Ljubljana if I want to eat good meat (also fish is good). The atmosphere is nice inside and brilliant during summer on their garden. If you want atmosphere, visit it when the garden is opened. We started with really soft and creamy pate with truffels and a great carpaccio. But the best dish was tartar on bone marrow. This was simply extraordinary (it takes a bit more waiting due to baking the bone). Try this. They have variety of steaks and pastas, also wagyu meat, which was perfect. They have all best slovenian wines by the glass and that is good, so you can try a lot. Staff is friendly and professional. I highly recommend this restaurant to meat lovers, but you will not miss also with fish.

Very nice dinner location but could use a minor adjustment on one of the dinner options we had. Made reservations and were seated immediately. The restaurant seemed to specialize in beef options so we decided to try two different variants of the beef fillet. We decided to get a salad with shrimp, a mushroom sauce fillet and a balsamic sauce fillet. For the mushroom fillet it's a five. However, for the balsamic fillet there was simply too much balsamic, couldn't even taste the meat and the flavor got exhausting quickly. Regardless, still loved the restaurant and the staff. Note, it was very expensive.

A small restaurant so make a reservation during high season. We ordered the charcuterie board (local fare and delicious) and 500 kg steak which was tender and cooked perfectly. A good wine list which some good cheaper options. Service was good. If you’re looking for a good steak dinner this is it.

One of the best steaks I’ve had in a while! Cute, cozy restaurant, great service. The truffle mash potatoes were amazing!!!

Visited based on positive reviews though there were some pretty negative reviews criticising the service. We booked dinner on a Saturday night - there was only one table when we turned up at 8pm but it gradually filled up. The waiter recommended the beef cheek and it was a dream - wonderful flavours and oh so tender and melts on your mouth. The pate was also outstanding as was the dry aged beef (soaked in gin and thyme). The beef was served with a blueberry mustard and ketchup and we ordered a side of truffle sauce which was delicious!

These were the best steaks we've had on our trip to Slovenia, hands down. Aged to perfection, cooked to medium rare, and absolutely delicious. The real surprise was the starters - especially the steak tartar on bone marrow - WOW. Our waiter was patient (we were a big group) and helpful in selecting both food and Amarone wine, and the vibe (vintage design in a maze of private rooms) was cool and relaxed. We loved this place!

First meal in Ljubljana. I went for lunch and found a seat easily. They have a lovely courtyard in the back in addition to seating inside. I would highly recommend getting a seat outside. Spajza is known for their steaks so I had to try one for myself. The food and service was great. I was steered toward a 350gram serving which I ordered medium rare. It was cooked to perfection. I also got the tuna tartar as a starter that was equally delicious. If you are in town looking for a steak to satisfy your hunger make sure to put Spajza at the top of your list.
