If you love all types of art work, including unique, hard-to-find local art that stretches the imagination, you should definitely stop by this family owned store in Old Town Roseville. There is literally something here for every art enthusiast, and some of the most unique gift ideas for any occasion.

I love going to Sparrow 5. They have a wonderful selection of unique and stunning household items. Especially love the quotes that they have burned into pieces of driftwood, that are fun to have around the house and to give away. Unfortunately, I've never really been able to afford anything special, because the cool items are priced outside my budget. With that being said, I never miss an opportunity to stop and visit with the owners when I'm on Vernon Street.

Google
The cutest shop with some of the most unique amazing sculptures, arty items with the most friendliest, experienced guys, Marsha & Don to help you find what you need. Marsha is a top class interior designer, having seen her work, she's outstanding.

Love this place! Owner is amazing, so kind and helpful. Bought my mom and mother 2 , a lovely lawn art piece each. Beautiful teak and glass pieces that they both loved. So grateful to have a unique place to visit and find gifts.

Yelp
I came here with my girlfriend for their mono-printing class. Signing up for the class was a bit confusing. They say to email them, but they don't quickly email you back to tell you if you are in the class or not. They say there is a limited amount of space, so we were worried both of us wouldn't get in. After waiting for a bit I just called them. They were very helpful over the phone and signed me up right away for the class. There were spots open so we both got into the class. I offered to give them my credit card over the phone, but they said to just pay when I got to the class. There isn't a private lot. Parking is plentiful in the public lot and it's free. It's about a block away. The class was fun. What I loved most about the class was all the supplies were included. I could try this new form of art and didn't have to invest in supplies. I enjoyed the class, but don't think I'd do this at home. I might take the class over again and bring my own card stock to make greeting cards out of the final product. In the end I just cut out the copy paper and glued it to blank card stock cards and it turned out really well. I was able to make many of my own custom made arty greeting cards. I highly recommend this gallery for classes. It is a bit of a drive for me, but it was a fun time.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite shops/galleries in the entire Sacramento area! Every time I am there I find something I want to buy from driftwood with meaningful words and sayings burned into it to unique welded metal works. Buying a gift here supports artists and is so much more fun than shopping at a Big Box store or at the mall. It is located in Old Roseville and even offers some classes for those who are interested. I also love the Wishing/Prayer Tree near the entrance. I always take a moment to add a message to this tree.

Yelp
Sparrow 5 is a wonderful Art Gallery full of amazing things. Beautiful treasures to find in there and fabulous art work by local artists. M and Taylor are welcoming, inviting and fun. I took one of the art classes recently (Skate Board Heart). I learned a lot about the creative eye and exploring my personal creativity. M is a talented and insightful teacher. I'm looking forward to taking more art classes and workshops there. It's a true delight at Sparrow 5.

Yelp
I can't wait to come back to visit this shop. I only spent maybe 5 or 10 minutes walking through with my group but truly the best shop I've ever seen in my life. It's worth going and listening.

Shannon G.

Yelp
My best friend and I did the paint your pet class and it was so much fun. Our pictures turned out amazing and we made new friends!

Yelp
Upcycled product, not antiques! If you're looking for genuine old stuff, this is not your store.

Yelp
This place is eye candy....and inspirational!! Repurposed items are amazing!! But even better is the staff!! Miss M and her Husband are the nicest and kindest people!! Mr M I will call him because I can't recall his name....but he literally walked the whole store with me telling me about different items and the artists!!! It was fabulous!! Went back about a month later and met M!!!! I love the fact that they are a private owned small business with one of a kind items!!! One of my favorite shops!!!

Renee C.

Yelp
Awesome store! The staff was so helpful, you can tell they take great pride in the local artists that overflows this place with ALLLLL kinds of eclectic and beautiful pieces of art. Prices are reasonable, and they offer art classes in the back of the store. We'll be back!

Lina T.

Yelp
The lady behind the register misgendered my friend, even though my friend made a $100+ purchase. I will not be visiting again as this narrow minded attitude is not something I want to experience as a customer.
google avatar

Yelp
This store is epic! So many unique pieces and definitely could be stuck in there for hours just wanting to get a good look at everything. This is an ideal gift shop for a unique present!! Customer service was excellent as well. Always super welcoming and informative on the prices and details of what they sell.

Yelp
So I love this place in old Roseville. I usually buy one art piece from here for my birthday. They have classes you can take to learn to paint, they usually paint dogs.. just saying. Anyways this place has unique pieces you will not find anywhere else. Well maybe online somewhere. But the creativity is amazing. Check it out. It's across the street from Ninja Sushi

Yelp
First I want to say to Patrice the gentleman that left one star. You are right about one thing the owner he does follow you around but not because he is worried about you stealing its because he is very passionate about the wonderful art they sell. He has always walked around the store to show you the jew wonderful things they sell. I love this place and the owners are very nice people. I hope the gentleman that left the 1 star will give them another chance now that you know it's not just you it's all of his customers. He engages with all the customers.

Yelp
Beautiful Gallery Full Of Exquisite, Unique Items! SITREP Part Art Gallery, Part Antique Shop, Part Imaginarium, Sparrow 5 has quite a collection of items that runs a wide gamut of creativity! Yelp
Being that I live in Southern California, I called Sparrows and told the manager I wanted this piece. I described it to him and he texted me picture to make sure this is the item I wanted. I said "Yes". We did the transaction via text and the item will be shipped to me. Customer service at its best.

Yelp
I've been in to look around twice and saw tons of stuff that I wanted to purchase until the owner/guy behind the counter started following me around and pointing out different things and walked me right out the store. I thought I was ready to much into until today. Went in and was looking around and the owner guy did the same exact thing. I noticed, however, that he did not to that to the Caucasian woman and her daughter. What, I was going to steal the framed scrabble tiles??? Lot of neat stuff, can not give someone my hard earned money for store that profiles me!

Yelp
I hesitated to write this review. I love supporting small, locally owned businesses. I attended a class and was very excited to attend. There were three other attendees. One of the attendees was so inappropriate in her comments. I was waiting for the owner to redirect the conversation or say something neutral, but it never happened. Classes are not the time to discuss politics or religion. Her comments were offensive and should have been shut down. It made the class uncomfortable. The shop itself is wonderful with many handmade items and it is lovely to browse. The class itself was okay but I would have appreciated a bit more instruction and less chit chat about things that should not be discussed in a public class. I'm sad to say the owner participated in those discussions rather than shutting them down. The husband was present in the store and was very nice and accommodating. I have family and friends that are neurodivergent and it was very apparent that this class was not inclusive or friendly. I was so disappointed.

Yelp
What a great art class I had at M's Art Journal. It was a creative therapy for me and I still keep thinking about it. She really let's you be creative but with enough critique to lead you in the right direction. And she has TONs and TONS of supplies for your every imagination. I learned so much from her, and even with 6 other people there she gave me all the attention I needed. Can't wait to see her again in a few weeks. M really knows her art!

Yelp
I saw this place featured on Good Day Sacramento. My daughter is visiting from Boise, so we decided to check it out. Nice stuff but the two owners were too busy on their computers to even acknowledge us. We were disappointed, the store is big and lots of stuff to take in, a simple can I help you or what brings you in today would have been nice. So we are going to take our money else were.

Yelp
best shop in the greater sacramento area to find any cute ditty that fits your style from so many local artists!!

Yelp
Love, love this store! It's not often you find a tasteful, posh store that has great hand-made art collections; and some real treasures to be discovered! Marsha is a gem and adds such a level of classy & sassy to her store! Don brings the jokes I highly recommend visiting Sparrow 5 if you are in need of a unique, thought gift! You won't be disappointed!

Yelp
My therapy!! My addiction! I so adore SPARROW 5! I love everything about this place! The owners are God's gift to this world and makes this world a better place! I love their fun products, sense of humor. I've taken 3 of M's class and can't wait to take the next class!

Yelp
I attended a 2-day art retreat. Best art retreat ever! Marsha provided a box of supplies and set us up in a large, peaceful space perfect for inspiring creative activity. I learned so much and her encouragement has inspired my imagination and fueled me.

Yelp
I've been here once and always wanted to go back! I went in late with some friends and a lady was really nice. She even gave me a card with a stamp on it because she noticed I was looking at it! I still have it!

Yelp
I LOVE this shop! It has so much amazing artwork and just a lot of really cool, fun, unique things. My sister and I took a "Paint Your Pet" class and it was really fun. There were 2 other girls there and we all had drinks and snacks while we painted. The class lasted about 5 hrs which sounds like a long time, but you get so engrossed in your painting that it flew by. The owner was with us the whole time giving us instructions and help. She was super funny and very informative - this is definitely not a paint by numbers experience! Everyone painted their dogs but since my dog already has a ton of artwork of her, I decided to paint my beloved cat Apollo who passed away 2 years ago. I promise you will not be disappointed in stopping by this business, it's really fun just to browse even if you don't buy anything (but how could you not?!) I plan on going every time I'm in the area to pick something up!

Yelp
Review is geared towards those reserving for a group art session. Ms. M was our art instructor, eight ladies booked an evening appointment on a Saturday, and boy was it awesome. :-) If you're looking for a fun "get-out-of-house" event with your girls, or whomever ... anyone who appreciates creating art, whether you're gifted or not, M will guide you to a cool piece and a great time. You arrive, head straight to the back, if you're there for an art session, which we did ... place is as cute as a button. Art is everywhere. A great shop. We all get settled, M tells us what the project entails, gives us the tools, lightly goes over the steps, monitors all the students, and the laughs and good times begin. If you're stuck creatively, M will give you some ideas, but not to take over, just gentle nudges because she knows what items are going to help get the wheels spinning again, regardless if you don't have a creative gene in your body (which is impossible, IMO). Our project involved a canvas, paint, paper from various scrap books, stamps, chalk, and final prep. Such a cool experience, and I didn't even know about this place, a friend set this up as a "going away party" for a good friend. Forever grateful Nicki for finding this place and lets keep this place in town - it's a gem and so are the folks working here. You'll love it. Location: Vernon St, near "the Place" and on the same side of the street). Hidden gem - come check it out.

Yelp
Came for Tuesday night market in downtown Roseville and came upon this wonderful store. At first I thought it was your typical gift shop but it was more than that. Everything is made by a local artisan. With that said, it is a little pricey but what great unique pieces. There is a wish tree that you can write on a tag and hang for free. Fun idea. The place has such a happy aura. I especially loved this large table someone had repurposed into a beauty for $1750. If I had the space, I would have bought it. It was absolutely beautiful. I did not buy anything this time but I will definitely be back to look again as I imagine items are always changing.

Kim W.

Yelp
I absolutely love this little square of heaven. I found it on accident with my daughter after lunch at The Place (another great establishment). The items are unique and creative. It was good to get lost in "these times"'looking at all of the gifts, projects and classes. The owners and staff could not have been more lovely. I always look forward to my next visit and I tell everyone about this special little spot!

Brooke C.

Yelp
SERIOUSLY! if you have a pet that you love, take Marsha's Paint Your Pet class. She draws it for you, and teaches you exactly how to paint it It's so much fun! If you have a teenager that loves an animal, take them! You will get hours of uninterrupted time with your teen. My niece LOVED it, and her painting is amazing. We were both first-timers, but Marsha makes it so easy. Worth every penny!!! THANKS MARSHA!!!!!

Yelp
Cute place. And unique funds. Very rarely greeted when coming in to the store though.

Yelp
Looking to do something with your friends other than the usual. This is super satisfying. I took the paint your pet class and thoroughly enjoyed myself. If you haven't spent any time on Vernon Street lately, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
What. A. Find! One of the best stores I've been in in a long time. Filled with art made from repurposed items, the inventory is very unique. Had I not been limited to what I could fit in my suitcase, I would have bought more. I love stores like this where you can find truly unique works of art by some talented artists. Lots of different price points so even those on a Iimited budget can find something. I spent at least an hour in the store and the owner even pointed out how some of the pieces were made and what they were refashioned from which of course made me want to buy even more. He was a very friendly gentlemen that really added to the experience. I'm hoping to make it back for an art class. The area they have set aside in the back and the projects they do look fantastic! Definitely worth the stop!

Yelp
A must see place in Roseville! I've travelled (and shopped!) all over the world and have never found a more charmingly creative shop! Everything is locally made and inspiring. Thank you M., for sharing your imaginative soul with the world!

Yelp
Took the Paint Your Pet class today and couldn't be more pleased. Marsha is a fabulous instructor and artist! I cannot wait to take another class from her! The store is also very eclectic! Lots to see!

Yelp
What a cool boutique! So many creative and beautiful decorative art pieces. You can even do paintings of your pet there. I love going into that shop.

Yelp
The best shop in Roseville for nick nacks. Plus she's a true artist and has classes for the public!!! A must see shop 5 stars for Marsha!!

Yelp
Such a cool place! The Mixed Media art lessons are so informative! Can not wait to do it again! The store has soo many whimsical art pieces. Check it out!!

Yelp
Do not miss this opportunity to Paint Your Pet! This was one of the best "Paint & Sip" experiences I've ever had! Although I do not recommend coming here to get drunk, this personalized picture is of your "baby" and there's a lot of self-pressure to get it right that I put on myself! This is not one of those pictures you paint and then put in the back of a closet like some of the painted cork or pinots palette experiences I've had!! DO THIS!!! My friend and I were a bit taken back by the cost at first but once we saw Mrs. M's talent of capturing our pet's total essence, she's worth every penny, and we will be back to do our other pets!!!!

Yelp
Awesome gallery. Very cool items that jump out at you. Beautiful art. lots of items are made from recycled material. Well done. Unique antique items. The furniture is very cool. Well worth a visit . I bought a mirror today for my bathroom. Down with the one from Home Depot , finally. This shop is extremely colorful. the guy who was working there today explained where the items came from and the history about some of the art I was looking at. Eclectic is a good description for this shop. They also host art classes for all ages. What a fun place to browse around. It used to be Lulu's boutique many years ago. Awesome!!

Yelp
I had the honor of attending an art class here last night and it was absolutely fabulous! A fun, creative way to spend a night with friends. The shop is so cute and full of inspiration. M, who runs the shop and class, was an absolute doll. So helpful and personable. The collage project we did was so enjoyable and I can't wait to make more at home. There were so many adorable, inspiring decor products in the shop. Some really unique finds! I could have spent all day shopping in there. I highly recommend attending an art class here as well as doing a little shopping! Two thumbs up!

Casey B.

Yelp
ORIGINALITY IN A BIG BOX TOWN... i love this place! paint your pet, mixed media and journaling classes are all great! they also have a great table of original one liners etched into wood. hilarious. love the unique gifts and decor too.

Yelp
My friends and I booked a private party tonight to celebrate one of our birthdays and we had so much fun! M was a great instructor and really hands on with each of us individually. She was patient and helped us throughout the whole process. We all left with our own art and our pieces turned our as individual as we are and amazing too! Great night out and the store front has some unique finds for your home or a gift for a friend!

Sherie S.

Yelp
My friend and I took the Mixed Media art class tonight and had so much fun!! I can't wait to take another class and of course I'll take any opportunity to check out their amazing store!

Allison N.

Yelp
What a fantastic Store! Great artwork, specialty gifts and art classes. This place blew my mind who knew little Ol' Roseville held such a gem packed away. There is something for everyone. You have to check this place out. The owner and Artist in Resident is the incredible mixed media artist Marsha Taylor. She also teaches art classes, as well as custom interior design. She is so fun to talk too and creates such a cool vibe. I love that a local artist can walk in and have her sell a tracker made from an antique sewing machine or a chair made out of shovels. She has it all from the classy, trashy, funky, or elegant. Antiques, or even a snail bent out of a fork with a marble (trust me you need one) I have never walked around that area of Roseville and loved everything. The old theatre, good restaurants and the jewel packed right in the middle Sparrow 5. She has Super Secret Spice, original art, furniture, lighting, funky local art, books, huge pictures, small trinkets and everything in-between, The greeting cards are hysterical and I was in there for over an hour. Do yourself a favor and check it out, buy a one of a kind gift or sign up for an art class with your friends, it is memorable and a true treasure.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Stumbled upon the most amazing store in Old Roseville. If you remember Andy Warhol, Peter Max or Dr. Seuss this is the "must see" store for you. From imported gourmet marshmallows to Art classes for young and old. Soho in Old Town Roseville. Boy are we lucky!!!!!!

Yelp
This company did a giveaway on Facebook. After a week of people entering on the post on Facebook they made a new post announcing someone as the winner. I always like to find the winners comments so I can congratulate them. I went through all the comments on the giveaway post and could not find the name they listed as the winner in the comments. So I commented on the post where they announced the winner letting them know I wanted to congratulate the winner but couldn't find them. The response I got from the company was that they had followers on Instagram as well. ? What's that have to do with a giveaway they posted on Facebook? So I asked if they posted the giveaway on Instagram as well. I checked their Instagram page and there was no post about the giveaway on it. Then I searched their followers on Instagram and the so called winner they announced doesn't even follow their Instagram page. When they were called out on it their excuse was they are trying to draw Instagram followers to their Facebook page for likes and possible purchases. That's all fine and dandy. That's the purpose of giveaways isn't it? The problem I have is this company is holding fake giveaways in order to get followers and purchases. No where on their Facebook post does it say they are holding the giveaway on multiple social media sites and would be picking a winner from entries on all sites. They are misleading the people who are entering not telling them the whole truth. When I pointed that out to them I was blocked from commenting and posting onto their Facebook page and they deleted all my comments proving the giveaway was fake. I'm sure this is a great company but even if I still lived in California I wouldn't shop there due to the dishonesty they showed on Facebook.
