Speakeasy Mortar

My wife and I visted Mortar on a trip to Seoul. The cocktails were gorgeous and they do a good pint of Guinness too. Staff were very welcoming and they know they're Whisky and Whiskeys. Highly recommend.

Went there two nights in a row during our stay. Well worth a visit. Great cocktails plus Guinness on tap. Staff really smart. Really nice interior. Very classy.

I normally do not publish reviews but in this specific case I make an exception as our experience at the bar has been objectively awful. At 1.20am we arrived, a friend and me, at Speakeasy Mortar, after grabbing a taxi exclusively to come and try this place. We were welcomed by somebody telling us "you only have 10 minutes to order as last round is at 1.30am. So is it fine to stay for just one drink?". Of course, we replied, no problem for us. When we entered, 6-7 people were sitting down and sipping their drink. When we entered, we asked if we could sit at the bar where other customers were. Impossible, as they were "closing that part of the bar" (again, where other customers were still drinking). We were shown the two extreme right seats where we were more "hidden". Already there we were not amazed but okay, we adapt. We sit down and within few seconds I have my choice: "can I have a whiskey sour?". Answer: "No, at this time I can serve you only a glass either neat or on the rocks". There was a couple on our side which has just got their drink. Zero effort, zero reason, above all. We said "okay, at this point we can only leave". Answer: "Have a good evening". Now, if you guys do not want to welcome guests, do not let them in, in the first place. And also, do not make foreigners behaving in a very respectful way, feel as if they were unwelcome or inferior, it is really an unacceptable behaviour. We will never come back.

Me and my girl rocky-ed up around 11. Was met at the door by a friendly, slightly astounded looking lady who ushered us in and sat us at the bar. The question wasn't "What drink should you like?", rather, "How has been your evening and what mood are you in?". As is Rocky's (owner) style, he made the evening into an experience rather than just a drink. Keep doing what you're doing Rocky.

Found this gem near our hotel while visiting Seoul, lovely cocktails and exceptional wait staff. Would highly recommend. English friendly.

A place with a large selection of whiskeys! The bartender was polite and fun, and also made fine cocktails. It was a very enjoyable place. P.S. no pics allowed :(

Quality of the atmosphere undermined by poor selection of alcohol and average cocktails. Quite shocked to see a "cocktail bar" using Famous Grouse; good for your margins but would expect better when paying these prices.

Great great great whiskey selection and lovely vibe. Speakers are blazing classic jazz and the staff are really attentive. Order the bacon as a bar snack - huge!!!!
