Special Places of Costa Rica | Playa Del Coco

Coco Joya #11 needs some updating and upgrading. It was advertised with a king size bed, but it was a queen. The wood dining table and chairs on the porch need refinishing. The cushions are threadbare and torn. There is also a wicker settee that has holes in the arm rests. The stove needs to be replaced as well as the refrigerator. There is aluminum foil on the drip pans on the stove and the oven door handle is about to fall off. Both are very old and worn. There are lots of wine glasses, but no sharp cooking knives, no Tupperware or other storage containers. There was no working clock in the entire unit. The clocks on the stove and microwave didn’t work. Kevin put a new battery in the wall clock on the porch, but it stopped working. There was a plug in alarm clock in the bedside drawer, but it also didn’t work. There was a bedside table lamp in the second bedroom that had black electrical tape holding the lampshade on. The entire unit is dimly lit especially by the kitchen sink and in the bathrooms. There is also a lot of noise from barking dogs and construction of a new development below. Not a good value for the money spent. Yes, Kevin did everything possible regarding the problems in this unit. I couldn’t find where to leave a review specifically for this property. Please pass my comments on to the owner.

Our experience renting a condo in Playas Del Coco was very good. It was a very nice, clean, newer unit in a luxury community. Overall, we were quite happy with all aspects of our stay and would book through them again.

Thank you Special places of Costa Rica for a wonderful vacation. We booked a last-minute trip to Hacienda Casa Amarilla in Playa Flamingo for the end of March and Phem at Special Places helped us with all of our planning. The house was terrific as was the services they provided or those they suggested we use. We would have given a five star rating except for two reasons. Even though the office was closed on Saturday afternoon, we were told someone would meet us at their office to provide us with keys and to get us to the house. No one was there and it took a while to reach someone and that was a bit uncomfortable arriving in a new country for the first time. A bigger issue was that the house next door to us, which was also managed by Special Places, was going through extensive exterior renovations. The work went on well into the night on Saturday and during the week the work was quite noisy and at times the odors which emanated from the construction were quite noxious. Special places did help reduce the noise and kept the construction to normal hours, but they should have told us before booking this was going to happening. They knew about the work but chose not to disclose. To make matters worse, the house on the other side which also was managed by Special Places also began exterior construction later in the week. On the positive side, those two houses were unoccupied so we had the "compound" to ourselves and the house was amazing. So too was the staff who tended to the house. My only wish was that we were told in advance about the situation before booking.

I booked 2 Condos in PACIFICO back in Jan/ Feb, 2020, and then COVID hit, I have been trying since then to cancel and get my money back with NO response. I got my money back for 1 Condo as they no longer manage it ( but it took 1 year ) to get my money back ,as of today , no money return or ANY response to my emails, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO BOOK THROUGH.. they told me that they would put the Condo back up to rent and they never did , terrible terrible owners,, no response what’s so ever.

Special Places was the right choice for our family visiting Costa Rica! They took care of everything in such a professional and timely manner. Will definitely be using them again 😊

Lastimosamente tuvimos una muy mala experiencia con la renta de una casa en Guanacaste que aparece entre las opciones pet friendly. Posterior al pago del hospedaje y de los seguros adicionales que cubren contra daños en la casa, nos indicaron que no iban a aceptar a nuestras mascotas, sin ninguna razón en especifico. Por lo tanto, solicitamos que se nosbrindara la información para la cancelación de la reserva. Tuvimos que mandar hasta 4 mensajes solicitando esta información sin respuesta. Intentamos llamar a los números proporcionados y tampoco se obtuvo respuesta. Cuando nos brindaron información, se nos dijo que el monto del seguro de daños no se podia devolver a pesar de que ni siquiera íbamos a hospedarnos en el lugar y no se nosbrindo ningún tipo de ayuda para la cancelación, a pesar de que esta no fue originada por nuestra parte (simplemente no nos iban a aceptar en el hospedaje). Ademas, a la hora de realizar la reserva, el proceso el largo y engorroso, solicitan mucha información sobre todos los huéspedes, lo cual se lleno de forma oportuna a pesar de lo poco amigable que resulta.
