Perfect time of year for ocean spray. It was billowing everywhere and the scent In the morning was Devine. The Hosts were great. Lot of space between sites. Bathrooms were clean and they had a play ground for the kids. Nice hikes within the park and a long the spit. Boat and bike rentals too!

Google
An absolutely wonderful campground! The sites have good privacy and quite a bit of shade. The beach is beautiful and not crowded. If you are looking for a couples camping experience, I recommend a stay during the week as there are less young ones. Biking, hiking, exploring and beaches are an amazing experience here. Walking around the Spit is a wonderful experience! All the different species of wildlife is pretty amazing!

I give it five stars, but from a boater's perspective, it deserves less. I must say this place is very popular, but I simply cannot see why. #1 It is a spit, so it is out in the wind. We have been cruising the San Juans for decades, and it is always blowing here. The one good thing about the spit is that there is always a lee shore with a buoy where you can get away from the wind driven waves but not the wind itself. #2 It's a long walk to the park bathrooms, nuff said. #3 There is a swampy area on the spit, making transporting and pushing bikes a pain. The park is nice and fairly big for those coming by car, but for boaters, it is just a windy place to grab a buoy. I'll post a pic of my wife and son on a day when there was no wind. Great Park. Clean and well hosted campground, space between the sites, all sorts of trails, and short hikes. ample wildlife for a homan occupied area. Don't miss out on the shoreline. come by car, by boat, by bicycle. this is a solid choice.

This used to be my family's property way back in the olden days. Awesome beach, you can spend hours just looking for cool rocks. Also a great place to swim, SUP, or kayak! Love this beach.

Google
Nice campground with really friendly and helpful camp hosts. The beach isn’t super great for swimming but it’s still fun. The bathrooms are clean. We had a great time and loved exploring the island. Cell service is super spotty to non-existent on the whole island but on the left of the spit you can get the best service. This was important for me as I was camping with kids and extended family but my husband was at home.

Was there for day use and the trails were great and the views of this long jam pretty incredulous.

Google
What a great find on Lopez Island! The trail to the beach was beautiful. Opens up to view of Frost Island. Bike and Kayak rentals available, too! There was a large logjam along the whole shoreline, except the marsh area. It looked very old as the wood was already white-washed. Not sure if the accumulation of logs is from years of storms or previous logging activity as visitor center was closed during my visit.

Yelp
This is a seriously underrated off season state park, the walk out the split in November is epic. Take in the marsh and the Salish Sea. We saw two herons and the shells are beautiful in the small slapping waves. The walk down from the car parking area was swift.

Yelp
So beautiful at sunset! It was a little muddy to walk down to the beach from the parking lot but worth it. There is a little shelter and spot for a fire pit too.

Yelp
Don't go here! Leave it for me! No, seriously... I don't know why Moran State Park and Orcas Island get all the buzz and no one has ever heard of this place. I was able to book a campsite in June for a prime weekend in July, which is crazy for such a great place that's close to Seattle. There's plenty of kayaking and biking to be done here, and you can rent both right at the park if you need to. Outdoor Adventure Center also runs guided kayak tours from Spencer Spit. We saw starfish, crabs, and seals while kayaking. The campsites are great. Grassy, shaded, large, and pretty spread out. I stayed at #22, and I'd definitely recommend those outer loop sites even though they're a few bucks more expensive because they're big and have a ton of privacy. The campground was full and we barely saw or heard anyone while we were at our site. There are also a few group sites that can hold 20 or so people. There are only two downsides I'd point out. There are real toilets, but I didn't see any showers. And since it's an island and garbage is expensive, it's a "pack it in, pack it out" operation. Which basically means you're bringing all your garbage back to the mainland with you. I think it's worth it for a short stay, but this might deter me from taking a longer trip there.

Yelp
A great state park for all kinds of recreation! Moorage: Anchorage and mooring buoys (up to 45 feet) available on the north and south sides of the spit. Anchorage is free; buoys $12/night (in 2914 season). Neither anchorage is extremely protected so you can expect some slight rock throughout the night. Be sure to check the weather reports before choosing your moorage, as the quality of moorage on each side can vary depending on how high the wind is, and where it's coming from. No dinghy dock, but the beach is just steep enough for a comfortable dinghy landing. Play in the water, and be sure to bring those sand toys! Just over the crest of the beach is a marshy wildlife preserve, great for viewing not only gulls and geese, but occasionally more exotic visitors including cranes and heron. At the "root" of the spit is the pay station, with a (non-motorized) water sports rental shack nearby for kayaks, paddle boards, and other adventures. Be sure to use the head before going to shore though, because the restroom is a short hike up the hill into the woods, at the campground parking lot. There are also bike and hiking trails to explore. In the evening, beach fires are permitted in firepits along the spit. Be sure to get your crab license, as there are plenty of Dungeness crab on the bottom on the north side!

Yelp
Loved it there. I made a reservation way in advance for the 2nd weekend in July... I fell in love with the landscape at Spencer Spit, its beautiful and there are kayaks for renting right at the beach. My campsite was spacious and very private - couldn't see anyone from there. The bathrooms were clean but no showers. There wasn't wood available at the park so we had to drive into town to get some... Not a big deal as it only takes 10-15mins to downtown. We went to shark reef sanctuary (30 mins away) which is a short but rewarding hike - we got to see tons of sea lions and eagles. We had an awesome weekend overall.

Yelp
We went to Spencer Spit State Park in mid-May of 2015. The campsites were surprisingly private, with lots of wooded space between. There was room for our two tents - and one of them is large - 12 x 14. There was also room for both our cars to park off the road. My only complaint about the park is that it's covered with stinging nettle, including edging the camp sites. I don't know if it's just common practice to let that stuff grow everywhere, but we didn't even know what it was before our trip there, and my 5-year-old grandson learned the hard way. Also, the long wait for a ferry both going to and coming from Lopez put a real damper on the weekend, but that's not the fault of the park, of course. I'd just say be sure to get a ferry reservation well ahead of time.

Yelp
Labor day weekend review-Absolutely beautiful park and beach but if your looking for some peace and quiet you might be shocked to find that you will be woken up at 6 am by the piercing screens of children..they were everywhere,no joke. Parents, what ever happened to be seen but not heard. Seriously. I am not one that likes to sleep in really late but for the love of god tell your children to be respectful of other campers!!!! We came here for peace and to get away from the city and thought Lopez would be the perfect place it's pretty sad when parents these days lack the proper parenting skills. I would recommend camping at Lopez farms or renting a cabin-it's very peaceful there.
