The Best Beaches in Sicily, From Cefalù to Taormina

"Just a 30-minute bus ride from bustling Palermo, Mondello has a long, half-moon-shaped beachfront with stretches of white sand, colorful sun loungers and city folk cooling off in the waves. It can be shoulder-to-shoulder during the height of summer, when it seems like the entire population of the capital migrates here for ferragosto, but it’s worth visiting for the Art Nouveau waterfront villas and striking rock cliffs that sandwich the shore." - Katharine Sohn, Rosalyn Wikeley

A very nice beach, with a small public area. Most of the beach is private and sunbeds cost around €15–20. It gets very crowded. The water is clean and warm. Showers cost extra, but there’s a small free one on the public side. Overall, I recommend it.

Beautiful beach with clear water, very shallow and scenic view of Cefalù town. We went on weekend which was pretty crowded because the locals. However on weekdays it was a little bit cheaper and less busy. Plenty of free space with soft sand.

The water is clean, clear, and perfect for swimming and very refreshing. The beach can get quite crowded, especially in high season, but the atmosphere is still amazing. Everything was well maintained and tidy. What I also liked is that there’s convenient parking right by the beach for a small fee, which makes the visit very easy. Overall, a beautiful place to relax and swim. Definitely worth it if you are in Sicily!

This place has an amazing vibe; you feel like you’ve stepped back into ancient times. We paid €20 per person for a sunbed and an umbrella, but it was worth it for the experience. Don’t expect too much from the sea though — it was dirty, murky, and wavy. But the atmosphere was absolutely perfect.

An unforgettable experience! While diving in this beautiful area of Sicily, I was amazed by the incredible variety of fish species I encountered. The crystal-clear water allowed me to enjoy every detail, from colorful schools of small fish to larger, more majestic ones. This place is a paradise for anyone who loves snorkeling, diving, or simply being in touch with marine life. I highly recommend it to all sea and nature enthusiasts.

Cefalù offers crystal-clear water, perfect swimming temperatures, and soft sand. There’s plenty of space on the beach for umbrellas and chairs, no crowding. The old town is absolutely charming, with lots of restaurants, shops, and lovely streets to walk through again and again. Prices are generally reasonable. A perfect mix of beach and culture.

The beach is beautiful and has big waves, which makes it a lot of fun if you enjoy playing in the surf. However, you shouldn’t go too far out because of the strong currents – the lifeguards are present and regularly remind people to stay closer to shore for safety. The sand is soft and pleasant, but the beach gets extremely crowded, especially during midday, so finding a good spot can be a challenge. Despite the crowds, the atmosphere is lively and the view of the coastline is absolutely stunning, which makes the visit worthwhile.

the beach is beautiful, overpopulated, but that is normal. you can at least still find free beach area, not like in San vito lo capo. They even have a free shower on the ebach (thing that is on its way to extinction). it is a very open, in full sun beach. i was there on a clody day and i was ok, but on a regular day, make sure you get an ombrella as you do not really have shade spaces.
