Every single time I am in Arusha, I will come and eat here at least once. It is a very social meal, and I love introducing friends to Ethiopian food. All the different types of curries, vegetables, lentil dishes are to die for!! It is truly one of the most delicious meals one can eat in Arusha.

Lovely homely feel to this restaurant with lots of plants and local artwork. The vegetarian options were plentiful and the ones I had were delicious. The waitress was welcoming and attentive but did not hover around which was perfect. There is a firepit which is great especially when the weather is cooler. Definitely recommend this one!

Such a great experience: A very nicely designed and cozy place with large garden where the children could play until the food came. A wide non- and vegetarian selection of Ethiopian dishes. The very friendly waitresses helped us with the selection and recommended less spicy options for the children. Washing hands with soap and warm water at the table. The meal on large shared plates with the typical Ethiopian bread. in the end they ordered a tuktuk for us to bring us back to our hotel.

Food was delicious as ever. We ordered a combo meet platter for two and enjoyed some Ethiopian coffee by the fire afterward. Service was generally okay, but the waiters seemed a bit annoyed when we ordered. We are return customers for over 4 years and recommend it to Ethiopian food lovers and those interested to try!

Spices and Herbs gets 5 stars from me! **Delicious custom breakfast. I did not try the restaurant for lunch or dinner. **Clean basic room. Comfortable bed with mosquito net. I did not try the shower. **Friendly, professional, accommodating staff who set me up with InDrive rideshare app, saving me 50%+ over taxi **Beautiful surroundings. Interior is creatively painted, with pleasant decor. **Easy, 20 minute walk to town. **Reasonably priced at $45/night at end of June **Thank you, Spices & Herbs and Staff!

Spices and Herbs is a great Ethiopian restaurant. The food was delicious - we ordered a chicken dish and a lentils dish with injera. The quantity was more than enough for two. The waitress, Veronica, was lovely and provided great service. The environment is pretty chilled and relaxed. While it does have some Ethiopian decor lying around, such as the traditional serving baskets (Herob), but it isn't actually used in the serving (like done in the Ethiopian restaurants in Dar). I was also a little disappointed that they didn't have the Ethiopian honey wine either (Tej). They take card but have an added 3% charge. But that doesn't take away the great food and environment there. Will definitely come again.

We had a lovely experience at this Ethiopian restaurant with a few highs and some areas for improvement. The hot chocolate was super chocolatey and delicious — definitely a comfort drink! We enjoyed the pita bread, which was fresh, and the hummus was creamy and full of flavor. Portion sizes were generous. The dawa drink, served in a thermos, was perfect for the chilly weather and a soothing choice if you have a sore throat — thoughtful touch! We tried the shiro, which had a great texture, though the spice blend was a bit overpowering for our taste. The injera and sides seemed to have been prepared earlier in the day and had dried out slightly. The staff was friendly, and we appreciated the bonfire, which made it more comfortable to sit outside despite the cold. A few things could be improved — the interior feels a bit outdated, and we noticed the hummus bowl was chipped. However, the new menu looked clean and well-designed. All in all, a nice spot with potential — would return for the drinks and warm service!
