The food selection was extensive and overall tasted quite good. It’s a great place for group dining, especially if you enjoy sharing dishes, and the value for money is definitely there. The only downside was the seating arrangement — for a group of more than ten people, we couldn’t get a single large table and had to sit at several tables pushed together. This made sharing dishes inconvenient, and we ended up ordering multiple portions of the same dishes.

My friends and I had a great time dining here. The service was excellent, and although the food came out a little slowly, it proved it was stir-fried and tasted fantastic. They were very busy, and we waited in line for half an hour before finally getting a table. I recommend calling ahead to make a reservation.

The food here is always good. we really enjoy it. However, the service needs improvement. We were celebrating a family birthday and had to keep calling staff for everything. Drinks arrived halfway through our meal, and we still had to ask for the table to be cleared and set up for the cake. Hope the service can be better next time because we do like this place. :D

Great food ruined by terrible hygiene and rude service.Today, I travelled a long way just to dine at a Chinese restaurant in Sydney called Spicy Joint, hoping for a delicious meal. I ordered the stir-fried Chinese cabbage with crispy pork, only to find a strand of hair in the dish. I politely informed the staff and expected them to replace the dish — a basic standard in food service. However, instead of preparing a new plate, the male staff member (who seemed to be the manager — with his hair tied up in a bun) simply picked the hair out with chopsticks right in front of me and tried to serve it back like nothing happened. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that and asked for a fresh dish, but from that point on, I didn’t feel like ordering it again. What shocked me even more was his attitude — aggressive and visibly annoyed — even though I had remained calm and respectful throughout. It made me question if it was my fault for finding hair in my food. To make things worse, when I moved on to eat the fish soup I had also ordered, I found another strand of hair in it. At that point, I lost my appetite completely. It’s extremely disappointing, because the food actually tasted good. But the service was unacceptable, and the hygiene standards were alarming. This was honestly the worst customer service I’ve experienced at a restaurant. Spicy Joint — I hope you take this feedback seriously. No one deserves to be treated like an inconvenience for expecting basic cleanliness and respect.

Very yummy food with wide selection of dishes available. Loved the salted egg tofu, golden mantou are a classic and the deep fried mushrooms are unforgettable.

Hands down my favourite restaurant in Sydney. The most authentic Sichuan food that’s seriously delicious and seriously spicy!!! I have been coming here now with my family for at least 6 years and it’s never let us down. The service can be a bit slow at times and waitstaff aren’t very attentive but it makes up for it in quality of food and atmosphere. I could easily down at least 5 serves of the wontons in spicy sauce by myself. I love you spicy joint!

We went for lunch, restaurant is huge so very spacious. We ordered some dumplings and hot and sour soup. The food was fine But I have to say what really annoyed me about this place was that the waiter saw there was only two of us, but didn't warn us that the soup we were ordering could have easily fed 10 people. Not only that we had to wait ages for it to finally arrive and imagine the shock we had when it did. Worse then they charged us for taking the rest of it away. Definitely never coming back here.

Amazing Sichuan cuisine and high chairs available! My two kitties loved the noodles. Delicious authentic Chinese food and efficient fast ordering system. Very reasonable prices too.

Gorgeous, luxuriously decorated restaurant, that made me feel like I was back in China! There is an extensive menu with lots of pictures. You order everything off a QR & then the server will come bring everything out for you. Although service very slow when we visited. It took forever for us to receive our food. We submitted an additional order for some rice & it didn't arrive until the end of our meal. Food was also very salty. We left feeling a bit disappointed.

Great place if you're craving spicy food or Chinese comfort food! The wait is long but you can always grab a number and walk around the area since there is so much to snack on. Assortment of skewers had vegetables, beef, and other things. It was pretty spicy since it was soaked in the sauce. Fried Abalone Mushroom was my favorite because it was crispy and the batter used was flavorful. Mapo Tofu comes in second because it had a nice kick to it. It's saucy and was a little more oily than what I am used to so I ate it with rice. I really enjoyed this dish.

the atmosphere is very good for a working lunch or dinner. it is a bit fancier than other Chinatown restaurants and the space is very large. the service however was very minimal and slow. the dan dan noodles had a nice kick at the end but were much less creamy then i am used to. i would not make the effort to go back but nothing was bad at all.

Hot damn this place is sensational. Part of an empire a la DTF but with Sichuan heat and when I say heat I mean numbing genuine buzzy feel good where's the bathroom what's my Doctors phone number heat. Friendly if brusk service, exactly what I expected and love about Asian service. They rarely get tipped and I read in AFR that for a while they didn't get properly paid. I leave tips and even at Marigold I get Rolls Royce service. My five stars is really for the food though. It is brilliant. Thanks to SOC for suggesting it. And it opens at 11am - just when I start getting bored at work and hunger sets in. If I learn they didn't fix up staff I will delete this review but I can't promise I will not come back.

The food was decent, however, the portion was small. However i simply could not stand the customer service. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday there, and we were a group of 10 people. Once seated, whoI presume to be the manager instantly told us to keep quiet, when we were just seated. Whats worse was when we were singing happy birthday to our friend, and the same guy STOOD in front of our table and CROSSED his arms and GLARED at us. He told us we were making other customers unhappy with our volume. The customers seemed fine and understanding. Later on, one of my friends got slapped with the bill on her arm when we hadn't asked for it yet. Rude. Would not return.

don't understand why some people give the restaurant high ratings. the place is really an average at best. foods there taste...well tasteless, portion wise seems fine but without good taste it's no point. the worst part is the service there. the girl who served us cleaned a table and a garbage bin before serving our dishes using her dirty hands. during the whole time she seemed irate, and didn't response even when you talk to her politely, as if she hates people going there eating adding a load of work for her lol! the place is a joke!
