Great food ruined by terrible hygiene and rude service.Today, I travelled a long way just to dine at a Chinese restaurant in Sydney called Spicy Joint, hoping for a delicious meal. I ordered the stir-fried Chinese cabbage with crispy pork, only to find a strand of hair in the dish. I politely informed the staff and expected them to replace the dish — a basic standard in food service. However, instead of preparing a new plate, the male staff member (who seemed to be the manager — with his hair tied up in a bun) simply picked the hair out with chopsticks right in front of me and tried to serve it back like nothing happened. I told him I wasn’t comfortable with that and asked for a fresh dish, but from that point on, I didn’t feel like ordering it again. What shocked me even more was his attitude — aggressive and visibly annoyed — even though I had remained calm and respectful throughout. It made me question if it was my fault for finding hair in my food. To make things worse, when I moved on to eat the fish soup I had also ordered, I found another strand of hair in it. At that point, I lost my appetite completely. It’s extremely disappointing, because the food actually tasted good. But the service was unacceptable, and the hygiene standards were alarming. This was honestly the worst customer service I’ve experienced at a restaurant. Spicy Joint — I hope you take this feedback seriously. No one deserves to be treated like an inconvenience for expecting basic cleanliness and respect.

We went for lunch, restaurant is huge so very spacious. We ordered some dumplings and hot and sour soup. The food was fine But I have to say what really annoyed me about this place was that the waiter saw there was only two of us, but didn't warn us that the soup we were ordering could have easily fed 10 people. Not only that we had to wait ages for it to finally arrive and imagine the shock we had when it did. Worse then they charged us for taking the rest of it away. Definitely never coming back here.

Quick service, plenty of table, food came out very quickly. I love the jelly noodle, fish sour pickle. Would definitely come back and try other dishes! Fish sour pickle is a bit spicy but to my liking, take the elevator to the restaurant. 2 dishes + a beer, less than $50. The fish soup is enough for 2 people.

Hands down my favourite restaurant in Sydney. The most authentic Sichuan food that’s seriously delicious and seriously spicy!!! I have been coming here now with my family for at least 6 years and it’s never let us down. The service can be a bit slow at times and waitstaff aren’t very attentive but it makes up for it in quality of food and atmosphere. I could easily down at least 5 serves of the wontons in spicy sauce by myself. I love you spicy joint!

Great resturant 😋🍜, ima be honest 🤷‍♂️ didn’t know what I ate 🤔 I just trusted pluh 🤝, apparently this is top 10 Chinese resturant 🏆🥡 (they’re professionals 👨‍🍳) so they put me on yk 😉. Atmosphere was cool 😎 open very pretty and nice and kool actwually 😊, was busy 🏮 but easy to hear people at ur table 🗣️👂 very big deal actwually. Service was great 👍 very quick food 🍽️⚡ and seating 🪑 nthn special tho 🤷‍♀️. Food was great 😍 first thing idk what it was 🤔🍲 but it was spicey 🌶🔥 and it didn’t get worse the more you ate 🍴, it was well balanced ⚖️ and chilly chill 🆒. The second thing with eggplant 🍆 was nice sweet 🍯 and savory, usually dont like sweetness outside of a desert yk but this had perfect balance of sweetness 😌💛 that went very well with rice 🍚🥢 one of my favourite ⭐❤️. Then I really enjoyed the big serving of what plug called “golden beef soup” 🥩🌟 smth like that 🤷‍♂️ I really liked it 😋, had very tender soft beef 🐄 and very nice and warm broth 🥣🔥, inside had some chillies 🌶️ and evoking mushroom 🍄✨ and overall very comforting 🤗. Overall food is amazing 🤤💯 even if you don’t know exactly what part of a chicken 🐓 you’re eating 😂 and the best part was after eating all that it went down smoothly 😌👌, didn’t have to assist the digestion yk. Felt good after eating 😁.

📍 Spicy Joint, Chinatown – Sydney Located right on the main street of Chinatown, Spicy Joint is easy to find and has a lively, well-designed interior. The atmosphere is vibrant, and the goldfish tanks at the entrance add a fun touch – especially for kids. 🅿️ Parking & Transport: Paid parking is available a few minutes’ walk away, but public transport is definitely the easier option with light rail, train, and bus stops nearby. 👩‍🍳 Customer Service: 4/10 Unfortunately, service wasn’t the friendliest or most accommodating. If you plan to bring your own cake, be aware they won’t serve it for you – you’ll need to cut and serve it yourself, and request cutlery or a lighter as these aren’t provided 🎂 🌶️ Menu & Options: 7/10 Plenty of Sichuan-style dishes and add-ons to choose from, with both dine-in and takeaway available. The dine-in experience is best if you want to enjoy the full atmosphere, though takeaway seems quite popular too. 📅 Booking Tip: Weekends get busy, so making a booking is recommended. They do accept walk-ins, but be prepared for a wait during peak hours. ✨ Overall Experience: 6/10 Great location and atmosphere with a solid menu, but service could be warmer. #Sydney #Australia #Chinatown #SydneyEats #Sichuan #SpicyJoint #AsianFood #ChilliLovers #ChineseFood

I acknowledge that the service experienced some delays, and there was a pause between courses, yet the culinary experience was quite enjoyable.
