Spicy Spices Salzburg - Vegetarisches Bio Restaurant

Recently on Salzburg trip I went to this Indian restaurant and my experience was awesome. Quality of food and the best part is the behavior of our one of Indian brother who is handling complete restaurant along with cooking delicious vegetarian foods. He was an amazing person we met and packed food for us for our Hallstat trip. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant.

Very nice vegetarian restaurant, very much in the style of all the first vegetarian restaurants in my country. Cash only so be warned.

During our four-night stay in Salzburg, my wife and I had the absolute pleasure of dining at Spicy Spices - a hidden gem - every single day. From the moment we stepped into this humble yet extraordinary restaurant, we knew we had found something truly special. We want to express our deepest gratitude to the man behind it all, Nirmal. He is the heart and soul of this restaurant, and words cannot fully express how much we appreciate his kindness and incredible hospitality. Nirmal has the most genuine, big-hearted spirit, and he serves every meal with a love that makes you feel right at home. We have traveled to many countries, but never have we experienced such top-notch, gold-standard hospitality. Despite running the entire show himself – a feat that is remarkable given the demands of the restaurant business – Nirmal went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of. Every vegan meal was served with generous portions and such thoughtfulness that we left his restaurant not just full, but deeply satisfied. The vegan food itself is a reflection of Nirmal’s dedication and love. Every dish is delicious, flavorful, and prepared with such care that you can taste the heart behind it. It was like eating home-cooked meals with the warmth of family. Nirmal, you made our time in Salzburg unforgettable. We will truly miss you and your food, and from the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making us feel so welcome.

I have had dinner here twice in the 6 days I spent in Salzburg! Small restaurant, atmospheric and best Spinach Paneer I have ever had. Not your high end dinning, low key lovely place. Welcoming and thoughtful owner. And very good prices.

This was a one of a kind experience for us. The restaurant only accepts cash and it's clearly mentioned on the first page of the menu. We were running short of Euros, but had enough Swiss francs. We informed Nirmal ji of this, and his first words were "order some food first and have your dinner, we'll see about the money later". True epitome of hospitality and "patrons first" mentality shone through in the very first interaction and we were pleasantly surprised! The food was just absolutely what the soul needed after a long and arduous day. We had the paneer kofta and dal with naan and rice. Except for the naan, everything else was spectacular! Kudos to Nirmal ji for running this establishment for over 27 years!

So delicious ! The food was so good and so fresh. The owner is really nice and friendly and the food was served super fast ! The dishes were generously served and super tasty with a lot of yumi spices. We also had a vegan mango lassi which was amazing. All the food are vegan or vegetarian and really original. The price are really good too. The restaurant is nice with a small organic shop inside and a terrasse outside. Thank you so much for this delicious dinner, your restaurant is amazing !

Well having dined in more than 20 European cities, and another 50 cities outside of India, this is probably the worst indian and vegetarian food I have had ever. Very unhygienic condition where the same person is greeting, serving, cooking and cleaning. And all food is tasteless, undercooked and basmati rice is absolutely watery. No onion or chilli available. Avoid it even if you are paid to eat. Vegan doesn't meet bad food. But this was bad food. You can hear all noises from the kitchen outside. The whole evening was depressing. Update after the reply from owner. There was one staff who was doing everything, meals were pre cooked which were heated, and so he didn't take any change from the menu. Also the chutney served was bottled green chili dip, and pickle tasted bad/more sour. The roti was thick, sort of undone. The vegetables were cut raw in the curry. Even when we asked for spicy the food was bland. No onion salad available. How can one person solve anything when he doing 5 things together. It's very easy for you to say that from where you are, as you were not there then there.

The owner / waiter was great. Extremely friendly, even had English menus available. We had the daily special (EUR 9.50), which included 2 veggie entrees (one in a curry sauce, the other in a mild sauce), lentils, rice (choice of organic brown or non-organic basmati), and choice of soup or salad. We had one of each choice (soup and salad, and rices), along with one order of Naan. The Naan was different than we're used to, since it wasn't cooked in a Tandoori oven. It was doughier, but very delicious, as was everything. All the ingredients tasted very fresh, but particularly those in the soup & salad. The curry veggie was potatoes, and it was my favorite (as it was a little spicy). The other veggie (in the mild sauce) was tasty, too, but we like it hot. Even the lentils were really good. A great meal!

Food is not as good as expected, slightly bland. Its the like an Indian fast fod. Rhe falafel balls are dry and bland. Samosa is also quite bland, not crispy enough. The mango lassie is not bad, not too sweet. They do have a special chilli sour sauce, stored in a jar. It's probably the most tasty item of the meal. Service is just okay. The owner seems running another business inside. Typical business style in Salzburg. Overall not the best food, but the service is polite and fast.

What a dissapointment! If i could give it minus sstars i would. It seemed to have all the components that would make it really good. An Indian couple running it. Organic ingredients. I ve had better Indian food cooked by non Indian/asian people. The food was bland, and badly cooked. We started with spring rolls. They were the big ready made ones with smoked tofu. They were tasteless and the pastry was soft. The mango lassi was very small and tasted like mango concentrate. The organic wine was nasty. The naan breads were like ready made supermarket ones. It was like white sponge. The daal was tasteless. Could as well have opened a can of ready cooked black eyes peas and eaten that. The paratha was almost raw and the cauliflower filling tasted sour like it was off. The curries that came with it was just as bland as everything else. Not recommending this place to anyone.

This probably a good dinner place for vegetarian. After eating a lot of bread and salad in this trip. It is a nice change. Don't expect a authentic Indian foods that u can get back home. The daily special is probably scoop from a ready prepared foods from the back. It Is tasty. I recommend this place if u craving for any vegetarian Asian foods. Reasonable price.

Great place! A lovely option for those who have a soft spot for vegetarian/vegan friendly food. The prices are good and the servings are abundant. We had great, laid back service. We actually ended up here twice because nothing in the area hit the spot as much. The first night we were the last ones there and were even given dessert on the house! My only complaint was that I heard the microwave being used. But hey, it was the end of the night & I was really pleased with everything else. Highly recommended!

Stopped here for dinner and loved the mustard leaves with paneer, dal and naans. Being a Sunday and considering that only one person was running the restaurant, service was quick. Overall quite tasty food.

Good food, even better service! The owner is great. Really nice guy. I ordered right before closing and he happily prepared the meal. I really appreciated his willingness to serve til the end and his kindness.

This restaurant is a feast to come specially for vegetarians... Sarson ka saag daal and khameere tandoori naan was the highlight for me .... Highly recommended... And the owner is very polite and welcoming .... They also have organic beer and everything else made / sold here is 100% organic and absolutely pure vegetarian .... Great place to eat in Salzburg....and is quite reasonably priced ...
