What a hidden gem! The wines are great, the atmosphere is personal and fun… we went at noon and were lucky to be tended to by one of the sons who had a wine named after him (which we tasted!). Originally we were about to go because we wanted a winery in a vineyard: but stay! The quality of their wines is very good: give them a shot! We ended not only tasting but taking a couple bottles home. And it was a lot of fun! Our host was Declan and he was both a poet and a sommelier! Go meet him and he will show you the wine ways… and you will have a great time there! And that’s all about wine: having fun! Enjoy. Tastings start at $30 for the basic… bottles also start at $35.

Such a splendid experience! Our host was magnificent, the presentation of the wines was spcied (!) up with stories for each wine, we even managed to watch the rehearsal of their murder mystery night of actors and people from the winery. The spiced wines were unique and right up our alley, the cheese board was totally excellent and the live music rounded up the experience. Such a great place! Congratulations to the owners!

My husband Michael and I met co-owner Doug in Cloverdale, and he invited us to come visit the tasting room owned by his wife, Crystalyn, founding partner, and him. We did so and were so warmly welcomed. Music by Adam was off the charts that day, and the wines delicious. We went again and met Doug’s son, Declan, who similarly was gracious and helped us join the wine club and learn about great area restaurants and theater. A truly family affair, and a casual tasting room where you can feel at home, sip wonderful small batch wines, and listen to great music. Highly recommend, as this place stands out in the crowd.

The wine is not the best wine I have tasted, but it is a cozy place with good service. It is clear that it is all a family concept. It's super cozy. A bit stingy with the amount of wine though.

What a great find in the northern part of Healdsburg! While the vineyards are in Alexander Valley, Doug and Crystalyn have their tasting room in Healdsburg which is easier to access. Although I originally thought that this was an interesting prospect because of the number of rosés in their lineup, we found that their whole line of wines were strong with some brilliant stand outs such as their Violet Rose rosé, delicious chardonnay, and great syrah. It was so good we joined their wine club! One of the best kept secrets I believe since a good number of industry folks at other wineries were not familiar!

Wonderful host Doug! Lots of stories about his wine. Wonderful aromas, beautiful wines!! Must try: cabernet Franc, Oringinal blend! 😲 OMG!! FANTASTIC.

We had an amazing experience at Spicy Vines. The wine was delicious and the owners, Doug and Crystalyn, were so friendly and welcoming. They made the whole tasting experience fun and enjoyable. We especially loved the Spiced Red and the Violet Rose. We also joined their wine club and can't wait to receive our shipments. Highly recommend visiting Spicy Vines if you're in the Healdsburg area!

Would not recommend this place. I came here with a group of friends and we left feeling uncomfortable. The winemaker and his son were flirty with some of the group and rude to others. The wine was ok.

What a fun experience and what good wines! We did both a tasting and we purchased a bottle of Rose and had it in store, so I had the best of both worlds: enjoyed the description of the delicious wines and tasted sips of them, while I enjoyed my very soft and fine glass of rose! Declan was our host. He is half a poet for descriptions of the wines body and flavors, and a sommelier as far a knowledge of the components and types: in fact he was the full Monty! Go in, enjoy the wines and relish in his fun company! Enjoy!

Wandering in downtown Healdsburg we walked into Spicy Vines. It was cool and relaxing after walking from our hotel in bright spring sunshine. Five of us shared a bottle of Spicy's Joie de Vivre Los Carneros Chardonnay 2017. Chardonnay is my favorite white wine. This one was balanced but nothing noteworthy for me. I prefer more oaky and buttery. We did enjoy sitting on the couches though, plus reviewing their award-winning medals, the latest wins in 2024 for Cabernet Sauvignon.

What a fun place to go wine tasting. One of the owners wine maker was our host. He was entertaining and friendly. All the wines were good but my favorite wine was the zin. The place was very comfortable with couches and some great looking art

Family owned an operated amazing wine, nice collection of wines great entertainment. I think Adam Lieb is there kind of regular guy which is our favorite over here at Furthermore Wines as well.!

I stumbled upon Spicy Vines in 2014 on the Healdsburg Food & Wine Walking tour (which I highly recommend!!) I purchased it on a Groupon for my mom for Mother's Day and we made various stops along the Healdsburg square. Our final stop was at Spicy Vines, which was absolutely delightful, and their spiced wine was delectable!! Since then I've tried to come at least once a year and stock up on the spiced wine (my favorite, and very reasonably priced at $38/bottle for the BEST wine you will ever have!) I've recently moved to North Marin and am so excited that I can now frequent Spicy Vines on a regular basis :) The owners and staff are family and are all so sweet and welcoming!! The live music Saturdays are a MUST -- the vibe is extra lively then. The spiced wine is fantastic hot, cold, or room temperature, and it's served all three ways at the tasting room. I couldn't recommend this place enough!!

On our first visit to Healdsburg we decided to do a wine and food walking tour. Spicy Vines was the last of the 3 tasting rooms we visited. We walked in and were immediately greeted by Declan the friendly and affable host. He was expert at describing the wines we tasted. We came to find out that Declan is a Shakespearean actor. Which he obviously uses to great effect at the tasting room. We enjoyed all of the wines we tasted and found out the reason for the name, Spicy Vines is because the owner likes to make a wine that reminds her of mulled wine from Europe. We also tried their Brandy and absolutely loved it. Before we left I noticed they had a Grappa for sale. We weren't able to taste it but since their wines and Brandy had been so good I decided to pick up a bottle when Declan told me it was Cabernet based. I opened it up when we got home and it was amazing. Grappa can be pretty bitter and harsh but theirs was pretty smooth. So our visit to Spicy Vines was exceptional and I would certainly visit again.

Definitely must go! We had a really amazing, tasting experience which was tailored to our preferences. Though Declan went off script to meet our preferences each description was excitingly animated and well constructed. It was greatly appreciated that he tailored a simple tasting to our personal presences and made it interactive and plenty of fun. Their roses were excellent, especially the 2021. We also liked their spiced wine (of course) and their Sauvignon Blanc.

The winemaker (Doug) and the owner (Crystalyn) were such great hosts! We went on a wine tour throughout the whole area, but honestly if we had stayed here all day I wouldn't have been disappointed. Crystalyn made us a wonderful lunch, and Doug talked us through each and every one of his creations with care. Spicy Vines is at the top of my list for a return trip to Sonoma.

We have been club members for about 2 years now. We absolutely LOVE Spicy Vines! The wine is amazing and fun (especially their descriptions of them!), the environment is comfortable and fun, and Doug, Crystalyn, and Declan make you feel like family EVERY SINGLE TIME you walk in! If you want to try some delicious, fantastic, and fun wines, this is the place!!! We couldn't be happier with Spicy Vines and we will be members for life! THANK YOU!

I spent a lovely afternoon listening to live music, enjoying their Zin Master zinfandel, and loving the friendly and comfortable vibe. It is truly a family business, and the great flavor of the wine reflects the care they take in everything they do. It is a small and very comfortable tasting room. Customer service is top notch. I enjoyed the pesto, provolone and prosciutto panini. We spent a lot of time last summer going to wineries that our visitors chose. I wish I knew about Spicy Vines then! I'll be back soon. (They also make brandy and serve great beer for those in your group who aren't into wine.)

I had a wonderful and memorable experience visiting Spicy Vines all thanks to Doug! The room itself was spacious which I liked a lot - there were options to sit on the couches to lounge or have a seat at one of the hightop tables in the middle. They have both a white & red flight. My cousin and I tried the red flight - mainly Cabs and Zins (not my go to for reds). That being said, I did enjoy drinking them based off of how Doug described each wine he served us because as soon as I took a sip I could taste each flavor distinctly - perfect to enjoy with a nice steak! I was especially surprised with the Zin Master Zinfandel - interesting and delicious! This place definitely lives up to their name. Great place to chill with some wine!

Where do I even begin? The food? The wine? The service? The ambience... You get the point. Everything about this place is five star. Doug the owner and wine maker is a genuine soul and you can feel his personality come through in his food and in his wine. My group and I discovered this place while on a tour (Wine Country Walking tours which I highly recommend as well) it was our last stop on the tour and we loved it so much we decided to stay, hang out order more food and more wine and we had the most incredible time. I am pretty sure we tried everything on the menu and loved it all so if you're looking for a fun spot to have a great meal and sip on some incredible wine this is the place to go.

We've been club members at Spicy Vines for years, and have always been treated like family. Doug the winemaker is usually busy experimenting, and the wine/spirits menu is fairly unique and full of high quality options. And to top it off they have plenty of great live music to enjoy. Can't recommend them enough!

We weren't expecting much from a little tasting room in Healdsburg but, boy, were we surprised! The owners' son served us (I am so sorry to have forgotten his name!) and totally made our day! The wines are fun and surprisingly good - we actually left with some whites and we aren't really white drinkers. The best part is the description of each wine - I'll leave that as a surprise when to get there. Great, fun spot - well worth it!

Stop #2 of our wine tour around Santa Rosa. We received a local tip about Healdsburgs being a "Playground for Wine Enthusiasts" since the wine bars and restaurants were open later than most wineries on any given Sunday, so we had to go check it out. Spicy Vines showed up on our radar since there were small bites to keep us in check until dinner and it was open a little later than others in the area. With a group of eight, there was plenty of space available to accommodate us. Upon get entrance, the bar is to the right, the middle has a few communal barstool tables and along the wall to the left were comfy couches. We ended up taking over the corner couch to the left since it could seat all of us comfortably where we were facing each other. The bar also supplied a few games and cards to keep it social amongst friends. Since we were new to the area, we started with wine flight ($12/each). I chose the second option, which featured a Chardonnay, "In Memory" Counoise (a special blend in tribute to the late co-founder), Zinfandel and their Spicy Vines Original Blend. With each pour, a few facts were shared about the wines such as tasting profiles and production. I probably enjoyed the Chardonnay for its refreshing qualities followed by their Original Blend since it tasted like Christmas. In addition to the wine, our group shared a cheese plate. You get a selection of three cheeses, two meats (prosciutto & salami) and the perfect accoutrements (honeycomb, dried fruits and almonds) to pair. It was beautifully presented and the honeycomb is locally produced. One of girls in our group loved it so much that our server said you can find it SHED, a local market a few blocks down. Overall, it's a pretty low-key tasting room. I didn't get a chance to view the rest of their offerings, but the wine flight selections shows that there was a nice variety between the two. Although our visit was short, it was fun and the owners are really passionate about their wines.

Every single person here is absolutely incredible. I have been to this tasting room many times, and gotten the chance to have a 1 on 1 conversation with Doug, Crystalyn, Kylie, and Hannah! All of them are wonderful. Doug the wine maker does a GREAT job and is really passionate about what he does at spicy vines. Really special they do a MEAD ( honey wine ) and also a special wine that they actually add spices to, hence SPICY vines. Not to mention they have little snacks on their menu incase you are craving a little nibble with you wine. Late night music on Tuesdays and Saturdays are a huge plus and a great chill space to hang out at. Grab a glass, or a wine cocktail the possibilities are endless. If you want to go to a tasting room that isn't all posh and pretentious and looking for a place where EVERYONE is welcome, check out spicy vines and be sure to say hi to Doug if he is there!

We visited for the first time almost 2 weeks ago. We really enjoyed our visit. The tasting room was very comfortable and the service was excellent. We went on a Saturday afternoon and were able to make same-day reservations. We bought their Chardonnay that I think she said is aged part of the time in oak and part in steel, so it had some of the butter but not too much. And we loved the Dragon's Kiss and bought that as well. Prices are pretty standard for that area in my experience.

This little gem is about a block off of the healdsburg square. What a great find for our last tasting of the day. Spicy vines founder Crystalyn welcomed us despite the time being not long before closing. It was just our luck that she had a bunch of wine open! She guided us through an enjoyable tasting in their comfy room. Wow. Kudos to winemaker Doug! What great wines to mirror the open and welcoming hospitality! Depending on your palate, this winery has a little of something for everyone. Quite unexpectedly, we all purchased their spiced wine! Delicious! Not the typical mediocre, high alcohol sangria or mulled wine. A nice chai explosion for your palate! Apparently, their chai candle comes out around the holidays!!! Our faves were the rose of syrah and syrah! But also loved their chard, pinot noir, and Rhett red! What a beautiful, relaxing experience. Not to mention the super clean adorable bathroom and 2 loving dogs! Thanks Crystalyn and Doug! We look forward to returning! PS. Live music on Saturday night!

Spicy Vines was our favorite stop on a recent trip to Healdsburg. We were trying to stick to tasting rooms so we can easily walk around downtown from our hotel and don't have to worry about driving , and made reservations at a few places .. I started with a spritz and my husband started with wine tasting, I quickly realized I should have done the tasting as well because he liked the wines so much. The tasting was priced better than most other places and the wines were far superior. The zinfandel was our favorite and we got a bottle and spent an additional hour enjoying it with the delicious panini. Highly recommend Spicy vines and hope to return soon.

Amazing place to stop and have a glass of wine while exploring Healdsburg. The owners are welcoming and personable and the Rose was the best I've ever had. Rockabilly duo of music was a great bonus.

I had a wonderful opportunity to visit this place because they participated in the Wine Road Barrel Tasting Event 2017. Located in a beautiful town. Their location is perfect for a group of friends. Intimate, relaxing, and has some sexy spiciness to it. Customer service was very kind and welcoming. One of their spicy wine would actually be perfect to be drink warm. Brings the holiday flavors to your mouth! The aroma and the taste is literally like Christmas. I've had this type of wine before from my German friend and it really brought beautiful memories. The wine was heated on the stove and we had it over the fire place and enjoyed winter with our families. The barrel tasting was tucked away in this cozy room. Display of old vines was a nice touch. They pay alot of attention to details. What's in the barrel? Petite Syrah. Very smooth and lovely! My friends enjoyed this winery. I was also impressed with all the awards and ribbons their wine has won! Definitely a place to visit again when I am in town!

We absolutely loved our time at Spicy Vines! Crystalyn was a fantastic host in her winery and very accommodating. All of the wines were delicious and unique. Charcuterie board was very tasty. 10/10 would recommend checking out Spicy Vines when in the area!

Delicious Spicy Red Wine For A Multitude of Palates! SITREP Crystalline & Anders have a great wine operation going on here in Napa on the Silverado Trail. Their wine is at once accessible, flexible and can be tailored to meet a lot of different kinds of beverage needs. THE SETUP I first became aware of this wine-branding when I ran across the lovely Janka at an event in Oakland, where she had a table set-up with the Spicy Vines wine and I've been a fan of this unique blend since. THE WINE The wine is a fruitful blend of Zinfandel, Syrah & Petit Syrah. These just happen to be three (3) awesome varietals that I really enjoy (since I'm not really a Cab fan- sorry). But it doesn't stop there... The wine is also delicately spiced, which gives it an extra kick that makes the sipping so very enjoyable. I've been able to partake of this winsome blend in one of 3 ways: (1) The wine itself, poured into a glass at room temperature, aerated, and sipped to maxiumum enjoyment! (2) More so during the holidays, warmed up gently in a crock pot as a mulled wine, where the sipping takes you to another level, and where the heated up spicy undertone opens up your olfactories like nobody's business, and warms you up to delightful effect!; and, (3) As a chilled beverage, like a version of Sangria where thrown into a crystalline jug along with some gin (I prefer the "Sloe Gin" from Spirits Work Distillery in Sebastopol) add in fruit over ice and *Wa-La!*, you have a powerful reason to sit on your patio and watch the sunset set! APPOINTMENTS ON WEEKEND Unlike bigger establishments, you will need to call ahead and make an appointment if planning to stop in Napa on a Weekend. There are regular hours otherwise posted for Weekdays. THE LOWDOWN Spicy Vines should definitely be a stop on your wine-country itinerary!

Tasty wines in a chill environment with some awesome people. This is one of my favorite places to go and chill and drink wine in Healdsburg square area. The owner and winemaker are always looking to come up with some cool new ideas for cocktails and the wine is delicious. This is literally the only place you can find a Spiced Wine which is made in the fashion of a mulled wine and it's quite tasty. They also have snacks and music on the weekends. Give this place a try if you're in the area and like a laid back tasting experience.

Such a cute tasting room in Healdsburg! If you want a place for an affordable wine tasting and some delicious small bites, come to Spicy Vines! They have $15 tastings of 5 wines of your choice. Every wine is very high quality and have the taste to match. The Chardonnay's and Rose's are my absolute favorite but I do enjoy the blends. This trip, I was able to meet the winemaker and he is so lovey! He is so friendly and has so much passion for the wine he makes. It's a small tasting room but they are on open table for reservations. There shouldn't be a wait during the day, but there might be during the day. Worth coming if you come to Healdsburg!

Delicious beverages make a night feel a lot smoother. Spicy Vines' sangria-like beverages are lovely as an aperitif or a drink all day beverage. Gee, just thinking about it makes me thirsty!

Grab your life vest and get on the Doug boat. We had a blast tasting his amazing wines. Everything from refreshing Sauvignon blanc to his spicy zinfandels, all incredible. We cancelled our next tasting and stayed here for the afternoon. Will definitely be back and everyone should make this a stop for some great food and great wine in Healdsburg.

Not being familiar with the town of Healdsburg, except for the exceptional known brewery nearby, I came upon this winery by chance at the Wanderlust festival held in Squaw Valley last year. That is where I got to try the most amazing and intriguing wines that has left me wanting more. Fast forward, not nearly a year later after following them through social media they finally open up their tasting room and I made the drive, met up with a friend and gave this place a try knowing good and well my mind was set on the spiced blend. The tasting room and space itself is very warm and inviting. Decor is bright and eclectic which seems to fit the personalities of the staff. The staff is engaging, energetic and excited when describing their wines. I could not get enough of it as well as the wines. Oh, the wines! My absolute favorites would have to be the Chardonnay and their spiced blend but all the wines we tasted had a unique character that I could take note of and enjoy. They were all pretty fun. Great wine. Great atmosphere. Amazing staff. I will most certainly return. Thanks Doug and Crystalyn!

You cannot beat this place! Once the wine tastings have wound down, and the sun is setting, swing by Spicy Vines. What you'll find is a wonderful wine bar with delicious cheese plates and small bites, courtesy of Crystalyn - the owner, and a menu chock full of bold, flavorful wines. Did you know: they are called "Spicy Vines" because of their signature spiced wine, that is in a class of its own because it didn't fit into any other category, so they petitioned to make a new category for spiced wine?! It's a delightful blend of wine and spices (think mulled wine) with a brandy finish, and you can get a glass to try. Like Christmas in your mouth! They also have live music and the most friendly staff ever. Stop by here - it's a must when in Healdsburg. Don't miss out!

They offer the sonoma card, 2 for 1 tasting and basically tried it all. We got a table Bc we had a large party. Super friendly and nice, a place to chill and try some wines. I didn't like any so I didn't buy, but friends had a few favorites.

This young couple do wines and finger foods right! Their signature Spicy Blend is off the charts excellent. If you're only a 'one glass' drinker, choose the Spicy Blend--it's like drinking two glasses for the feel of two. If red isn't your thing, try their Sauvignon Blanc or Honey Mead. Live music on Saturday night makes this place really fun!

So, my hubby and I went to the Wine and Food Affair in Sonoma for our fourth time. This year, Spicy Vines, was on the participating tasting room list. We went for a wine tasting and food sampling as a part of the event, but upon seeing what they offer, we came back for more after the event was over! This place is a little different from most of the tasting rooms in Healdsburg, because it is really a kind of fun bar in addition to being a tasting room. It looks cool, has fun cocktails, music, and a party room. Their wines were all good, but the wine called "Spiced" was amazing! It is like the holidays in a bottle. It's good right out of the bottle. When we came back later, we had it heated with fruit....even better. We bought a couple bottles back home, shared one with friend and they can't stop talking about it. Anyway, if you are passing through Healdsburg, I would definitely suggest a stop at Spicy Vines!

The ladies who served us were knowledgeable and very energetic! While my group was there they were very attentive and checked in frequently to ensure we were satisfied. I myself got a flight. To be real I found the gewurztraminer was my fav and AMAZING! So smooth and crisp. The best part was there was no burn and it was not to sweet! It was the best I have ever had...take a bow! The charcuterie plate, the local honey (another absolute fav)and crackers pair lovely with the flight. The inside of the place was very hip and comfortable. Made for a cool environment on the hot 100 degree weather that was happening outside

Worst ever!! Been tasting for a decade all around the world and have never been treated this poorly, by the actual wine maker no less. Condescending, arrogant, belittling laughing in my face and pompous. Wine was whatever, but this is a hospitality industry and he wasn't hospitable AT ALL. Look at my previous reviews of other businesses. I dont give negative reviews bc most people know how to treat people. Dont support this place.

This tasting room was just a bit off. After a day of wine tasting, we chose to go here for their "wine cocktails" as opposed to just a typical tasting. The tasting room overall felt like a tired lounge, where things were just a bit out of place. The winemaker was loud and larger than life, while the vibe was quiet and chill (some even playing checkers and chess), and the drinks were mediocre. Plenty of other places to hit in the area, this would not be one I'd recommend.

My husband and I wanted to do a quick getaway. Of the wine establishments we went to in Healdsburg, this was our favorite. Not only did the place have character (spicy! Not the standard "Instagram Sonoma winery look" that they all do these days), but the wine was delicious! Great depth of flavor. The owner took the time to tell us about the vineyards, why they chose them, how they felt about each wine, and you could tell they put a lot of heart into each one. They do live music too, and we had a great time. We recommend checking them and their wine out!

We had our rehearsal dinner here and it was amazing! We invited about 50 people so there was plenty of room since they have a spacious lounge as well as an outside area. The staff was attentive and super friendly. At the end as a dessert, we had their amazing sangria Popsicles - our family & friends were enamored with the quality of wine. I highly recommend for an event or just to stop by to try some top notch wine!

The winemaker served us, and he was so fun and entertaining. The wines were so aromatic and flavorful. We had a fabulous time, and we'd definitely recommend to anyone who wants more of an experience!

BRAVO! This place is cozy, yet Chic. Modern yet has almost a speak easy feel.. Crystalyn and the staff are so sweet and jovial. It's pretty hard to leave this tasting room... Come prepared to stay for a while. They make one of the only Chard's I've had that I not only tolerated, but ENJOYED! It seems like their wines are always winning awards, and the original Spiced Blend will always be near and dear to my heart as I've been drinking it for years. However, the Dragon's Kiss Syrah is pretty damn good. Order the Chocolate Abrazo mousse if you really really like chocolate. It will knock those socks right off...! I am so happy they opened the Spicy tasting room in Healdsburg and moved on from Napa!! They are funky fresh in this place, and fit right in to the Sonoma county scene :)
