Spijshuis De Dis

Superb atmosphere, great tasting food, lovely service and right in the heart of the town! Could not pick a better restaurant for a dinner with a loved one in Delft if we tried! My wife and I did not have a reservation, however we were given a table within 10 minutes of walking in on Holy Saturday this year (19-04-2025). As you can see from the photos attached, the plating was next to none (Delft blue was clearly at the forefront) and the food was so appetising to eat! My wife ordered the De Zucchini and was extremely pleased with her choice, as the meal was clearly created with the vegetarian palette in mind (rather than, like in some other establishments, where the vegetarian option is the same as the carnivore one minus the meat). The bill was presented in a very sweet way too - Delft blue pottery clog for the win! The toilets are on the ground floor, which is good as you dont have to climb stairs to go and wash your hands. The tables are quite closely spaced together, but that did not bother us. However it would be challenging to navigate with a stroller and/or a wheelchair. The ambiance is typically Dutch, including a tulip vase with real tulips (at the entrance to the restaurant). Both my with and I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone and everyone! You'll enjoy your time at Spijshuis De Dis without a doubt!

We enjoyed our dinner and time here (17 April 2025). The chef/owner happened to be in the dining room when we entered. He was very welcoming, had a chat with us and helped us find a table even though we didn’t reserve one. The food was delicious, the ambience and service was warm, it was a good experience at the end of our tour in Delft. Thank you so much.

I have experience with thousands of restaurants all over the world. This restaurant is one of the best. Truly authentic local fine dining. Food fresh, authentic local. Taste amazing, presentation on the plate very nice. I would happily recommend it to anyone.

The food is pretty good. The environment is cozy. Table is clean. The service was good too. Maybe it’s because of different custom in the Netherlands, nothing in this restaurant is free. The bread & spread is not free. The water on the table is not free. And an extra plate to share also is €7.50 because it’s garnished? The waiter should have let us know beforehand instead of just “do it” Don’t get me wrong. The food is one of the best we tried while in the NL. And the waiters were friendly. I was going to give them a high 5 until I check the bill. It feels like we were being taken advantage of because we were tourists. So my recommendation is: go try the food, but don’t be shy to ask for the price for everything or assume a service is free.

Great food, enjoyed at the square in front of the restaurant during a warm summer evening with a slight breeze. The traditional foods were great. We had the 'proeverij' or taste menu where you are severed multiple dishes with each a different nature and accents. Overall a great experience. The staff was very kind and fast delivery

This was the best meal of our trip to Netherlands so far. Delicious. Beautiful presentation. Wonderful service. Classic atmosphere. We were able to walk in and get a table without a reservation on a Tuesday night in mid-September. Highly recommend!

I booked this restaurant a few weeks in advance for special meal with my parents and I am so glad I did. It was perfect. Staff could not have been better. Warm, friendly and welcoming. I have a food allergy and my dish was modified to make it right for me. Presentation of food is very special and most importantly, every dish had so much flavour. You can tell the chefs takepride in their work. The best meal we had in the Netherlands during our week long trip. Fantastic!

Enjoyed a delightful Dutch dinner with our neighbors! As expats, most of us were only familiar with typical Dutch dishes like stamppot and herring. However, this particular place surprised us with a delicious variety of seafood, lamb, and other tasty meats. Everything was incredibly flavorful!

Our group of 10 sat outside in the Beestenmarkt and had a wonderful dinner here. Our server was friendly, professional and knew the menu/specials well. I ordered the De Trappisten Stoverij = Old style braised beef in red wine sauce, mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was delicious!!! It was not a big, heavy meal but just the right amount of meat, I want to say maybe 5-6oz. Others in my group had the special of muscles, Bokkenpot = leg of rabbit, chicken and braised beef, fish soup, red lentil soup, and Backsinth met Bocksinth = Roasted deer fillet wrapped in puff pastry with vegetables, fine herbs, served with a little glass of homemade Bockstinth. All of our dishes were delicious!! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Delft and sitting outside. It was a lively evening, the kids were running around and mingling with other kids from nearby restaurants. Service was a little slow, but this was a Friday night and there were other big parties sitting outside as well. Can't wait to come back during my next visit to Delft.

Wonderful staff- especially their 6'3" fabulous chef, and maybe 5' server Clarice (from Brazil). Full and happy bellies by the end of the meal. Staff made us laugh too many times to count- a riot. Outdoor seating available but inside is much livelier.

We were looking for a restaurant that serves traditional Dutch food, and ended up here. It's not totally traditional, but it seems that we got more of a local flavor than we might elsewhere. The meals came beautifully garnished and everything tasted wonderful. I had the braised beef, and my husband had the leg of hare- both excellent, although I preferred mine. The menu included rabbit, deer, beef, fish, fowl, and plenty of mashed potatoes (amazing!), cheeses, and vegetables. We came with our 9-month-old, and were greeted in a very welcoming manner. They were gracious and accommodating, bringing bread and a high chair for her right away, and offering a small spoon for us to give her tastes of mashed potato (not much though- they were too good!). Both our server and the maitre'D were attentive, kind, and welcoming. Highly recommended!

We looked up a restaurant on yelp since we were looking for somewhere to eat after touring the Delft factory. This place was a real find! The service was great, the food was delicious and the presentation was beautiful. We weren't able to take advantage of the outdoor seating because it was raining - but inside suited us perfectly!

Excellent Brazilian waitress who came to the Netherlands to learn Dutch. Very helpful in navigating the Dutch menu and recommending the Rabbit and veal. The ribeye was no longer available but the substitute was excellent.

Delicious Dutch-style seafood with many meat and vegetarian plates as well. I recommend getting the shared chef plates. The whole sea bass was cooked Perfectly. The service is professional, but not especially warm.

Strolling about in Delft this weekend and found this little piece of delight! It's a quiet and absolutely cosy establishment located in a nice square in Delft. The restaurant has sort of straggly interior but they're totally pulling it off making the atmosphere super awesome. One of the staff was not super enjoyable (the one serving us) which I always feel is a downer at a restaurant visit. But the food was great. I ordered possibly one of the best vegetarian dishes I've had so far and my 3 companion's food also looked amazing. Husband and I order Low Carb with no potatoes and received freshly fried vegetables instead, big plus! The menu at all looked great and we are for sure going back to go through the whole thing. Big warning though, do not sit close to the kitchen because the chefs were cooking something (all night) that smelled horrible, guessing kale or liver.

What a treat!! An evening that was meant to happen-The reservations were easy, showed up a little late but table was waiting. Service was attentive, knowledgable and engaged in the process. Whenever possible, tried the samplers- wow! Appetizer and desserts were samplers of several menu items - more food than needed but had to try everything! Had lamb special and husband had menu item. Both were perfectly sauced and textured. I doubt I'll find myself here again...but might come back just for the food!

Excellent Dutch cuisine for a very reasonable price. Great wine list, seasonal menu, and mouthwatering desert selection. It can get busy during weekend; reservation is recommended. Went there twice and will keep going :)
