Google
My spouse and I thoroughly enjoyed dining at Spinnaker's, especially since they offered a dedicated gluten free menu. It is very hard to find a restaurant with dedicated fryers and prep stations for gluten free diners. The majority of food on the menu can be made gluten free, which is a huge plus!!! When we went to order, they asked immediately if anyone in our party was gluten intolerant and it made ordering much smoother. The food and service was delicious. The gluten free chicken tenders were to die for and perfectly made. The fried shrimp were plump and well made. The service was fast and friendly. We would certainly go back. 😁

Google
Best fries for miles hands down. Fresh cut!!! Ordered a large and it was huge! Outside tables were very busy. Inside was very clean. They have red gold ketchup which is very disappointing so minus 1 star. (Terrible off brand ketchup that's cheaper then Heinz 57). Other then that place was nice.

Google
Found this restaurant on a FB ad, and decided to make the drive out from our trip to Boston because their Gluten Free specialties. Out of our family of four, only the $40 Lobster roll which was thoroughly enjoyed. The crab roll had an off taste. The gluten-free shrimp platter was bland, the breading was soft and found hair on my shrimp. The chicken nuggets were basic, and nothing was seasoned at all. Best thing was the fries which were gluten free and fried separately.

Google
A celiacs dream come true! Fantastic Gluten free seafood and fries. The food was outstanding! It has been so long since I’ve gotten to enjoy fried whole belly clams due to celiac! They take your allergy so serious and have a dedicated prep and frying area for people who have a gluten allergy! It was heavenly! Thank you!

Google
This is not the same lobster roll I ate and reviewed two years ago. Two years ago it was good. This one was fantastic! A true gasm in your mouth. Fresh lobster obviously just caught and it was like John the fisherman himself delivered it to me fresh off the boat. I was worried about the lemon on top cause that’s normally to cover up sub par frozen lobster meat. This was not the case. Didn’t need the butter or teeth to eat. Was amazing! I will be back! Thanks fam for a fantastic lobster role experience I will not be soon to forget!

Google
After waiting patiently for 25 minutes just to place my order, and another 15 to receive my order, i was stunned to receive my Caesar salad without any croutons and a packet of Ken’s dressing… $13 for lettuce and a few shavings of parm. When I went to management to inquire where my croutons were, I was treated very rudely and told that they don't serve croutons. When I said so, I paid $13 for essentially lettuce?? The response I received was, you didn’t even ask for croutons did you? I informed her that a Caesar salad always has croutons so no, I didn’t ask. She argued with me - very rude… My entire dinner Came to $66: lettuce, a side of coleslaw, whole clam bellies with nothing else and two lemonades. Do yourself a favor and skip this joke of a restaurant.

Google
Love, love that there are so many gluten free options! I had the gluten free fried haddock sandwich and fries. The haddock was perfect, the bun was good as far as gluten free bread can be and the fries were delicious. I'm so glad I found this on facebook!

Ronald S.

Google
Maybe I got the wrong haddock filet. Not worth 20$. Servers where young and attractive but seemed oppressed. Kids meals came in a cardboard car. 13$ cheeseburger was average. My 4 year old is still hungry.
google avatar

Hannah S.

Yelp
I got probably 2 lobster rolls worth of lobster on my one roll... YUM. And my partner's order of fried scallops was such a generous serving which isn't super common in Maine. A bit pricey but honestly, worth it for the serving sizes and convenience. Order at the window and find a seat or take it to-go... so nice after a long, hot beach day! Also the kids meals come in the cutest car boxes. Friendly staff and super clean bathrooms. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Awesome selection of seafood here! I particularly enjoyed the fried shrimp basket here. They have so many choices and everything is freshly made! We came here multiple times on our trip. Would highly recommend
google avatar

Yelp
Gluten-free clam platter, probably the best I've had. Not greasy, no indigestion, lovely service, dog friendly, good outdoor seating. Very clean. Non-gluten-free haddock also light and delicious. Highly recommend

Suzie P.

Yelp
We had a great experience today! We walked up to the counter, ordered our GF items then non-GF items, and everything came out as requested! We ate outside on the patio, as it was the perfect early Friday evening for some delicious food and a relaxing adult drink! A little warning: the GF bun did end up falling apart so it was not the best GF bun for the burger & I had to use a fork to finish the burger. 1 star off for that :-/

Steve T.

Yelp
The Lobster Roll was generous and delicious! Staff were constantly making sure the outside eating court was clean. Terrific!!
google avatar

Selki A.

Yelp
Excellent fresh seafood, friendly counter service. Lunch spot type atmosphere. The fried haddock is especially fresh.

Mary D.

Yelp
Disappointed it was rated so highly. I found the food to be mediocre. The fish was good, but everything else was bland. The tartar sauce was store-brand and pre-packaged, which didn't help.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
Spinnakers today was fantastic. I had whole belly clams which were exceptional. I liked the coleslaw but some people would consider it under dressed. The blueberry cornbread was good. The fresh cut fries were AMAZING, some of the best fries I have ever had. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place was outstandingly clean. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Sky J.

Yelp
Omg they have a dedicated gluten free fryer so they can make pretty much everything! I love the fried clams and shrimp the most! And best tartar sauce!
google avatar

Camille V.

Yelp
Great spot for a quick lunch! Lots of options, fresh seafood, decent prices. Quick service and a nice relaxed seating area. We loved the lobster rolls!
google avatar

Yelp
We ordered food to go and it was still amazing! We were pleasantly surprised at how quickly the food was prepared and they were transparent about the ten minute wait time. The shrimp was the best fried shrimp we have ever experienced, the batter perfectly golden and not too thick! The shrimp were cooked to perfection which is a challenge, especially when deep fried. The cod was large and also cooked just right. Servings sizes were generous in comparison to other places.
google avatar

Keith S.

Yelp
We really liked this place. The service was exceptional. We only had hot dogs, but they were really good. You have the option of eating inside or outside. We chose outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather.
google avatar

Kathleen N.

Yelp
Love the fact that they cater to gluten free choices. Ordered fried shrimp box gluten free to go. Well packaged, friendly staff at the to go window. Was debating between the haddock or the shrimp. Should have gone with the haddock. It was good but prefer "Maine" shrimp. Fresh cut fries were delicious.

K ..

Yelp
Really good seafood! We had the fisherman's platter (haddock, Clams, scallops and shrimp). Everything was cooked to perfection. Good quality. They also have a gluten free menu. Inside dining is clean and air conditioned. We didn't eat outside, but they have a secluded outdoor eating area. Tables have umbrellas and looked inviting. If you love seafood, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Yelp
Every year when I vacation in Maine, I make sure I come to Spinnakers. As someone with Celiac who has no choice but to eat gluten free, it can be so hard to travel and find places with gluten free options. I can get chicken tenders, haddock, fries and so much more all gluten free here. The staff is always so friendly and they keep everything so clean. My friends aren't gluten free and love all the regular fried platters. This restaurant is a favorite in our group and we will continue to keep coming back every year!

Donnell L.

Yelp
This place is great for Gluten free. Wish I took pictures. They have you order first and cook it separately. No cross contamination. Food was cooked perfectly. And didn't lifeless deprived of eating fried seafood!!

Jenn V.

Yelp
First time since being diagnosed with celiac that my husband could have fried clams! Dedicated fryer so nice selection of fried seafood, chicken, and fries! Excellent food, fair prices, worth the wait in line!
google avatar

Yelp
Another amazing GF fried seafood spot! What I loved most about this place... the staff! The girl at the counter who took our order was friendly and pleasant but most of all helpful. As soon as we mentioned GF she instantly showed us their GF menu, made it a point to tell us they have a dedicated fryer. (These are words we absolutely love to hear being GF) They had many options which is wonderful. I ordered the GF fried scallops and my friend ordered the GF fried whole belly clams and fried shrimp! We found outside seating, where we were met by another member of their staff. We wanted to sit in the shade but didn't want to take up a table for 4 or 6 people. This girl overheard us and immediately offered to sanitize the two top the had recently been vacated. When your order is ready they text you. Once food was back at our table we were pleasantly surprised to see how delicious it looked but also how much food their was! It was so delicious! The fries were perfect! The scallops were huge and plentiful! Their coleslaw for my taste needed more seasoning or something it was a bit on the boring side but the rest of the food was amazing.

Yelp
Delicious seafood and sandwiches. Separate fryer for fried items, huge scallops, shrimp and clams. Hand cut fries. Open during Covid by ordering at the window and sitting outside. Great staff constantly cleaning and making sure you have everything you need. Bottled soda, water, beer and mixed drinks. We will be back. Right off Route 1 in Wells.
google avatar

Bridget L.

Yelp
We have been coming here since they opened. So happy to see that they were thriving through these difficult times. We did curbside pickup, they have got this down, they text you when your food is at the window, they have masks on and they are always wiping things down. I always forget to take pictures at first, but the portions were large and the clams were crispy. I also blindly ordered a craft beer and they picked a great one out. These ladies work hard and it shows!!

De L.

Yelp
Food was decent, a bit pricey. The lobster roll was average. The clam chowder was watered down, it's supposed to be creamy. Customer service felt rushed.
google avatar

Tina C.

Yelp
Our meals were delicious. Friendly and fast service. Nice outdoor seating, patio. Onion rings and fries were bangin! Great for kids, kids and adults all enjoyed their meals from the burgers to the chowdah. Would definitely enjoy a meal here again when in Maine.

An M.

Yelp
Just so far downhill, we are done with them. Prices way up, quality stinks. 100 for a crummy lunch is just not worth it. 36 bucks for a small lobster roll, 18 for a fish sandwich.... bland and cheap...

Kimberlie B.

Yelp
Lobster roll. Butter. Fresh cut fries. Extremely clean outdoor area! Friendly, delicious, you can't go wrong.

Yelp
Delicious and Celiac safe Gluten Free fried seafood I feel like I found the holy grail !! Having a 4 year old with celiac who is extremely sensitive to cross contamination I was soooo excited when I heard about Spinnakers and went to their website and saw all the attention to detail they pay when it comes to their GF options We finally got a chance to try it out and the whole experience was great. The whole staff was very knowledgeable , they have tarter and ketchup etc that are pre packaged so no risk of cross contamination ( these seem like little details but make a world of difference) The food was delicious. Really fresh seafood with a tasty batter , great coleslaw and fries and classic beer England chowder. And the restaurant is spotless and has great distancing and COVID precautions. I do hope they get a couple wine options next season to go with their beer selection. This Place is a must try for anyone who is Gluten Free and loves some good fried seafood.
google avatar

Rachel H.

Yelp
SO AMAZING!! My husband had the fish n chips and it was beautifully light and flaky. I had the scallops and I couldn't be happier! Everything is so fresh. There's also a gluten free menu for all you people that have to eat gluten-free. My scallops were gluten free and the breading was so good, I almost thought I was eating gluten! Can't recommend this place enough. Will be coming back every time I'm in the area
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious!!! I got lobster poutine and a half pint of fried clams to go-- and they did it right!! They put chunks of Lobster, cheese curds, and lobster gravy in a side container to pour over my fries when I got home so nothing was soggy!! I never been to jakes but I already told my family who comes up for the summer season they have to hit up spinnakers! The half pint of clams was HUGE I couldn't believe how many clams I got!!

Ecology F.

Yelp
The young women taking orders, serving and tidying up after customers who use the roadside picnic table are all helpful and charming. However, the food is overpriced. $12 for a basic green salad with maybe three grape tomatoes and four cucumber slices alongside a smattering of greens and a tablespoon of grated carrots The New England House (cater-corner) serves a large garden salad for $8. Go there instead.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Super fast service and the lobster roll was packed with fresh lobster. A tiny bit pricey but for the amount of lobster in the roll probably not awful. $35/roll with butter no fries or sides. It is a roll with the lobster nothing else as far as toppings.
google avatar

B D.

Yelp
We stopped for lunch. They are taking safety precautions very seriously and effectively, which was good to see. We felt safe and comfortable outside. They are also serious about gluten free and the gluten free haddock platter was Celiac safe. The haddock platters had the largest slabs of freshly fried haddock cooked perfectly that I've ever had. The pier fries were excellent, too. We couldn't comfortably finish the haddock so it will be dinner, too, as a big sandwich.
google avatar

Daniel S.

Yelp
If you remember 'Jakes' being in this spot and think it will be the same be prepared for a disappointment. Food is more expensive and the quality has gone down. Got our order wrong last time we called and the clam chowder was too milky. Wait time can be frustrating as well
google avatar

Jackie H.

Yelp
We stopped on our way up the coast. Looked for a place with plenty of Maine license plates in the parking lot and ended up here. Super clean, friendly staff, kid friendly and absolutely delicious lobster rolls. Although I'm a purest, we loved the lemon aioli addition to the roll. $20 for a roll with this amount of lobster is rare. Totally impressed and will recommend to friends and family. And you people here on yelp. Update: We moved north for a few days but all decided to make the stop at Spinnakers on the way back home. They were just opening for lunch and we were first there. Staff was very friendly. We met both the new owners, who chatted with us, were so happy to hear we came back so quickly and gave many thanks for the return visit. We had so many lobster rolls over the past few days, but really enjoyed Spinnakers the most. Can't wait to visit again!
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
Sorry spinnakers I was a disappointed in your clam strips. Not hot and taste like they are precooked/frozen. Cole slaw is dry and tasteless. Staff was very friendly, nice and helpful. Too many other places to choose from then to settle.
google avatar

Lindsey K.

Yelp
Lobster is fresh and that's all the good I can say it's ridiculously overpriced. So much so that I had dinner in kennebunkport had 3 drinks and a lobster dinner and it was cheaper than a lobster roll lunch here. Never will go again. $85 dollars is insane for lunch!
google avatar

Jessica P.

Yelp
Such a cute place, so clean inside and out. The service was awesome and the employees were so very friendly. Very family friendly. Food was excellent and so fresh. Highly recommend!

Annelise B.

Yelp
They have amazing gluten free fried seafood! I've been twice and both times have gotten the fried clam strips. Fries are absolutely delicious as well. The staff is super friendly and the space to eat both inside and outside is really nice.

Michèle V.

Yelp
Used to be good. Highly overrated. Market price for lobster varies according to the client. Paid $38.00 for a small lobster roll. $30.00 for poutine. Excellent restaurants nearby were very less expensive!
google avatar

Michelle M.

Yelp
I use to love Jake's so I gave this place a try. I cant eat seafood but my niece wanted haddock. I got the chicken fingers. They were not good. Definitely came out of the freezer and it tastes it. Fries were good. When it said hand cut I thought they were fresh but they weren't. Onion rings were beer battered and all you could taste was the beer. I wouldnt have gotten them if I knew they were beer battered. So most of my food ended in the trash. My niece liked her haddock but that was it. Her fried ended up in the trash. I did like the blueberry corn bread but it was out of place. The staff was great. Very friendly and sweet. I know I wont be back. I like fresh food not frozen.
google avatar

Daniel D.

Yelp
Okay, I was a big fan of Jake's that used to be at this location, but I went in open minded and wanted to like this place. I was very disappointed. As others have said this place is overpriced for what they are providing. I went there with two others and we ordered clam strips and whole fried clams. Very expensive, and very bland. For what they are charging I would have to compare this place to Bob's Clam Hut in Kittery (Awesome place!!!) where you pay for what you get. These guys cannot even come close for the money. $25 for a fried clam basket with fries and they can't even make their own tartar sauce. It comes with Kens Tartar sauce. The clams had no flavor although the fries were kinda good. Toss the blueberry cornbread, it doesn't belong.

Dawn H.

Yelp
Came at dinner time on a Sunday. Wanted to try the lobster roll, but the $35 price tag was a bit too steep for my budget. Settled on the crab cake platter. They were tasty, and the portions were generous. Hubby's burger was huge, and plenty of fries for us both! We had leftovers to take with us. Inside seating was comfortable, very clean. The staff were all smiling and helpful.
google avatar

Ella D.

Yelp
It one of our favorite places to order take out fish and chips with their hand cut fries, and bring it to the beach down the road. The fish always taste fresh and the fries always tasty. The staff is incredibly friendly and very prompt with filling orders.
google avatar

C. T.

Yelp
Stopped in for our first stop while on vacation for summer 2018 and there was a gasp that it was not Jakes. Decided to stay and check it out. They spruced up the place inside. We had clam rolls , cheeseburger, clam chowder and a large fry to check it out. Everything was great. The same level of quality if not better which was the case for the French Fries which were easily better. Best in the area. Only disappointment was that they no longer sell blueberry pie. That can easily be corrected and I hope will be. Try it , you'll like it if not love it !!!!
google avatar

Kristen G.

Yelp
Wow. The staff was so great and accommodating they have a great outdoor patio you can sit at that is cleaned and sanitized constantly. We had 4 burgers onion rings and fries. Great spot for lunch.
google avatar

Kate A.

Yelp
I stayed very close to Spinnakers for a week. Tried to go several times but they're closed Mondays and Tuesdays and then for several other days a week they close at at 7PM. This seems very early to me, and it prevented us from going there and spending money. Not sure if these are post-labor day hours or what. All I know is, in the past Jake's got a lot of my vacation dollars because they were reliably open til 9pm. On the day we managed to go there, we had the lobster poutine which was very good. Excellent fries, lots of lobster meat and cheese curds. The "gravy" seems to be sort of like lobster bisque. Really good! I wish we had been able to go another time to try more of their food. Maybe next year.
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
Yes, yes and more yes! Gluten free folks rejoice. GF fried clams and fried haddock, perfectly prepared. Dedicated fryer. IPA GF beer to wash it down. Very friendly service with a caring manager (owner?). We sat in the outdoor patio, in the shade, and savored this awesome find.
google avatar

Marcus J.

Yelp
Great lobster roll, overflowing w/ nice cold Maine lobster, served straight up w/ a side of melted butter, or a surprisingly delicious lemon aioli. The whole belly calms were on point too! Nice big dining room w/ outdoor seating as well. Owners are super friendly and welcoming. Really hope they have great success. We will definitely be back for more anytime we're up that way.

Grace R.

Yelp
Spinnakers is everything I could want in a seafood spot. Comfortable, nice, and delicious-- seafood done simply, but done perfectly!
google avatar

Ronald F.

Yelp
This was a great little restaurant, and they had a wonderful selection of fried gluten-free items. Delicious food, warm hospitality. If you're looking for a very good GF clam chowder or fried clams (gluten free or otherwise) be sure to stop in here.

Nicki A.

Yelp
Gluten-free fried seafood!! So delicious! Those in our party who eat gluten enjoyed the gluten version as well. Nice outdoor patio and dog friendly.
