Fantastic intimate dining experience with a changing menu. Reservations are required and there's only a handful of tables. Every dish was well explained and the food was delicious. I still don't think root vegetables belong in dessert but it worked better than I anticipated. I would definitely return if I find myself back in Helsinki. The berry sorbet and burnt white chocolate second dessert was phenomenal.

I really appreciate the effort that's been put into every dish – 'white fish' was a punch of flavour! The menu is really well balanced and isn't heavy as set menus in other restaurants. I really enjoyed it!

It’s been a week since I returned from Finland, but I’m still thinking about my dinner at Spis. From the beautiful presentation to the lovely stories behind each dish, each part of the meal is crafted with thought and care. I can’t recommend this spot highly enough.

Quaint, Chef lead, 14 seat restaurant. Very lovely experience from start to finish. Service was very warm and without flaw. Many dishes were presented by the Executive Chef and thoroughly explained, romancing every detail. The standouts were the Baltic herring and bilberry with reconstructed white chocolate.

Had the pleasure of dining at Spis while on holiday in Helsinki. The atmosphere was calm and very pleasant and the staff treated us with outmost care. The great attention to detail both in how the table and food was prepared was evident. And the food was a pleasure to experience: exquisite preparation and taste, with local ingredients and sustainability at the forefront. Will recommend to anyone who loves great taste in food and wine!

Sublime dining experience! The Spis team took us on an adventurous rollercoaster ride through their world of tastes, textures and plate decoration, hitting the ball out of the park on multiple occasions! The wine pairing varied between 'very good' all the way up to 'how is this even possible!?!?' Extremely friendly, helpful, relaxed and down to earth staff that clearly loves and lives for their trade. I would not be surprised to see them win a first Michelin star in the near future. Definitely recommend! (2ppl, all courses + 3 paired wines came to 350 eur total)

Yesterday we had dinner at the restaurant Spis, which is a gourmet/fine dining restaurant. The restaurant offered a wonderful surprise menu that tickles us portion after portion with a great flavor palette 😋 With to the surprise menu, we took a wine package of 5 wines, which nicely enhanced the taste of the dishes. The restaurant itself was surprisingly simple but still managed to create a nice relaxed atmosphere. The service was simply awesome 👌. Big thanks, I can warmly regiment this restaurant!

Restaurant Spis in Helsinki offers an intimate dining experience with a dedicated and caring chef and server. The dishes are creative and made with extremely fresh local ingredients, each presented with a wonderful explanation by the chef about the inspiration behind his choices. The cozy atmosphere and personalized service make it a standout spot, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an exceptional meal.

Real hidden gem in central Helsinki. The restaurant is small with an industrial interior which works very well. There is only a few tables so reservations is a must. The menu is based on the Nordic cuisine and we got both fish and duck among other well prepared dishes as part of our menu. A clear value added was the service with the chef presenting each meal.

FYI I was i here in June of 2017. First of I just have to say wow just wow. This may have been one of the best meals I have eaten. The food here is absolutely amazing. I can't remember what I had but whatever I had I know it was really good. The one thing I remember however is the Spruce Sorbet. It was good and tasted exactly how a Christmas tree smells. I also thought it was pretty cool to be eatting tree sap. which basically is what it is, a tree sap sorbet. It is a small restaurant but I think it is the perfect size for it. I really liked the vibe too. Overall, I really enjoyed the place and would definitely would recommend it. I will come back the next time I'm there.

We ordered the 6-course tasting menu and added the cheese course. We ended up with 12 courses! There are lots of little surprises thrown into the menu between courses. The food was all beautifully plated with attention to the smallest detail. Although there is a focus on vegetables, meat was included in the menu and they substituted fish for my lamb since I'm not a fan. The bread and butter was amazing (which I found throughout Helsinki!) Wine accompaniment was also very nice. Service was friendly and prompt. The space itself was cozy. Very small, but we didn't feel squashed. My only call out is that the meal took a very, very long time. When we ordered 6 courses, we didn't expect to spend 3+ hours. Knowing all the surprises in store, the staff may want to give people a head's up about the length of the meal. Also, one of the desserts was served on a giant lego block, which although fun just seems overdone at this point.

Writing as Isak Dinesen, Blixen wrote Babette's Feast, about an austere religious sect whose members "... renounced the pleasures of this world, for the earth and all that it held to them was but a kind of illusion". The maid-of-all-work Babette has been with them for many years, yet unbeknownst to them, she was once a Cordon Bleu chef forced into exile. With winnings from the lottery she prepares a once-in-a-lifetime meal, which leaves the sect questioning their lifelong denial of mortal pleasures. This Finnish restaurant has many of the same qualities, delicious food designed to make the brain flutter with pleasure. Allow yourself to be swept away by the delicious flavours. Enjoy!

One of the best meals of my life. As a vegetarian, I was skeptical I could get a good Nordic-inspired meal and I was so happy with this place. The food was delicious, the setting intimate, and the waiter was perfectly attentive yet at the same time gave us our space. Every detail was attended to, each serving dish beautiful. Unfortunately, we were the only table at the restaurant--granted, it was a Tuesday night and we chose the late seating. I highly recommend this place to any vegetarians looking for Nordic cuisine!

Amazing experience. Superb quality - each course was bursting with layers of flavor, and the dish compositions were clean and elegant. An excellent showcase of Finnish/Scandinavian ingredients that highlights and elevates the flavors perfectly. I highly recommend opting for the wine pairing and the cheese course. Prices are great, great "bang for your buck." The setting is simple and cozy, a perfect setting for a relaxing yet indulgent dining experience. The service was attentive without being obtrusive. I've been to several Michelin starred restaurants with the tasting menu concept, and the experience at Spis was the best one I've had - food, wine, ambience, service, price - all came together perfectly for an amazing experience. If you are looking for a gourmet experience, trying to choose between the various tasting menu restaurants in town, and/or want to experience high quality Finnish flavors, look no further and make a reservation at Spis.

Wonderful service and food. The wine and food pairings where superb. The six course meal has several "appetizers" and the pairings are basically for each. The owner was helpful in explaining the pairings and the meal.

What a find!! Intimate, with only 18 tables, Scandinavian plant-based restaurant. They offered a vegan tasting menu that included dishes like lemon verbena sorbet with celery root granita as an intermezzo, roasted pumpkin with barley risotto as a main dish, and dessert of root vegetable muesli with gooseberry sorbet. Everything was perfectly executed, nice wine pairing options, and the service was friendly, and informed. We went early (5:30) and were able to chat quite a bit with one of the owners, who did much of the serving himself. Terrific place, cannot recommend it enough!!
