5 Best Day Trips from Hong Kong

"Stretching across 75 acres, Splendid China claims to be the world’s largest “miniature” park, featuring about 80 Chinese landmarks. The park drops travelers into a quirky, albeit contrived, wonderland of Chinese culture, like a CliffsNotes version of China. Zooming through the many dynasties, regions, villages, and landscapes within an hour or two proves a whirlwind of an afternoon. The miniatures have been meticulously constructed to mirror the originals: Expect to be amazed by the detail of the Forbidden City, Terracotta Army, Summer Palace, and various drum towers." - Kate Springer

The shows and performances are quite good. The admission ticket price is not really worth it, as there are a lot of extra fee/cost for activities when you are inside. The workers in there are not too caring too. They don't volunteer any information and only answer specifically what you ask. If you watch the 430pm show, then you will miss a lot of activities as they close at 530pm even though the park closes at 10pm or something.

In short, come here only if you have time to kill. The area is very rundown, many of the sections were either closed off, or were under construction. For example, the animal enclosures were all empty, the treetop walk was closed, and what was supposed to be a mini waterpark was empty and cordoned off. Sure, there are activities within the park. However, your ticketed entrance does not cover them, you have to pay as you go. This turned out to be a disappointing 200RMB walk in the park. Splendid indeed.

There have only some splendid restaurants and some artificial homes they created to showcase. Nothing else only to waste your times and money.

Excellent theme park for all the wonderful sights in china in one place. Good to know more about China, and it's special location including Terracotta warriors, forbidden City and great Wall of China. Don't miss the show at 3pm, with lots of Chinese Chinese kungfu. And 5pm dance show. Went on weekdays, but quite crowded with school children. Well managed park, with lots to see. Need at least 3-4 hours to see the whole place. Interesting! Areas for improvements : 1. Better signages to show map numbering and actual location. 2. More english signboards.
