Boutique Hotel Splendid, a Design Boutique Hotel Munich, Germany

"The Splendid Dollmann is situated in an elegant 19th-century town house in the heart of the historical Lehel district of Munich. It offers good public transport links, free Wi-Fi, and is only a 10-minute walk from Marienplatz. The classic-style rooms at Hotel Splendid Dollmann are imaginatively and stylishly decorated. Every room features a TV and private bathroom. Hotel Splendid Munich is a short walk from the opera house, theatre and the city centre. The beautiful Churches of St. Anna and St. Lucas are 5 minutes away by foot." - My Boutique Hotel (en)

I got no sleep. Rooms are beyond hot i was unable to turn town the heat even with the windows open. I was sold on a lie for breakfast I specifically asked what kind of breakfast. The concierge said "Cheff prepared" not buffet bread cheese and fruit. I would not have opted for a buffet breakfast thats why I specifically asked. I was hoever refunded and i do appreciate that. Overall it was over priced probably due to New Years week. Location is good. Rooms are clean. No top sheet on bed, just comforter...

The hotel’s location is excellent - on a quiet street in the Lehel district between the Englischer Gartens, the River Isar and the Alt Stadt. However, our room in the hotel was somewhat lacking at what felt like a full price - desperately in need of some TLC and a deep clean (e.g. the carpet looked quite dirty), lacking some basics (e.g. a minibar and kettle) and some lazy workmanship (e.g. bolting the skirting board to the wall, but not covering the bolt marks)

To whom it may concern. You are very friendly. However you don’t take pride in your hotel. First and most important, no AC. Second, we had a piece of wood on the floor. Third, scratches all over. Fourth, new staff every day. Fifth, we went to Austria for two days, you did nothing. An easy task is check that the water glasses are positioned correct and a fresh bottle of water. We love this part of München, we have stayed at Sitar. You are much better. We will come back to München next midsummer. Maybe we will stay with you. Kind regards Kristian Löwegren

Excellent hotel! The cutest room for one person. It was clean and cleaned everyday. My room had a tiny balcony too with a small chair and table. No fridge but they helped me keep some stuff in their fridge. The only con is the walls are a bit thin and can hear people lock and unlock doors late and early in the day. It was not a problem for me. I didn't have breakfast but it's available for a charge. Location is great. Tram and metro station are 5 mins away. Can also walk easily to the Old town.

Overall this is a very nice little hotel in a very convenient central location. The rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast is wonderful; the women who run the breakfast have it totally together. Things that could have been better: 1) the internet didn't work for an entire day which was very inconvenient, 2) the entrance of the hotel for some reason always smelled like cigarette smoke. I don't know if that's because people are taking smoking breaks right outside or what but it was persistently that way, 3) there is no air conditioning which is not a problem until it is, 4) the hair dryer was the kind where you had to keep pushing a lever to have the dryer be on, which I found annoying and really unnecessary, 5) the shower gel (which incidentally smells great) had run out in the shower and housekeeping did not fill it back up, 6) for a small bathroom, it's important for there to be alot of hooks. At least a hook on the back of the door. Again, overall a pleasant stay and would consider staying there again.

This hotel is very nice! The room was clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and the facilities were complete. The staff is friendly and attentive. The breakfast has a wide variety and tastes good. The location is convenient, with convenient transportation and many shopping and dining options. High cost performance, will choose to stay next time!

We chose Hotel Splendid for its location in the Old Town ring but in a quieter area close to good transportation. It certainly fulfilled our hopes. Just a one minute walk to Lehel Underground station and two handy tram lines (we bought a 72 hour pass for our three day stay). The hotel's front entrance looks a little battered (just needing a quick paint job) but once inside, it's very nice and well kept up. There are about 12 steps up to the lobby but we were offered help with our luggage. We were on the fourth floor. The elevator services the lower ground breakfast area to all the rooms. There is a nice sitting room with a bar and a lovely outdoor patio in the back. I didn't realize breakfast wasn't included and for the price, it was okay but not remarkable. Our room was quite large and pleasant and our request for a walk in shower was honored. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Just behind the hotel is a nice square with several restaurants that look enticing but we didn't discover this before we'd made other plans. All in all, we would recommend Hotel Splendid quite highly.

Yelp
I travelled to Munich in Feb. The hotel is located in a building which was built in 1885. The room is well-decorated, lovely and cozy, people at the reception desk are friendly and helpful!! I lost my chocolate I bought in Switzerland when I checked out, and when I discovered I was already on the train. The hotel helped to mail it to my friend in Germany, for free!!! He took it back to China and mailed it to me, the chocolate is so well-packed that when I received it, there is even no wrinkle on the paper bag!!! I would definitely recommend Splendid Dollmann to every tourist, it's literally the best hotel with the best service!!!

Yelp
In the early 90's I walked into this hotel because it was cheaper than the youth hostels in Munich. I think i may have been the only guest there at the time, and I spent a bit of time speaking to the owner at the time who was very nice and though his English was as bad as my German we got along just fine. In fact he even let me use the hotel's only washer and dryer. This is where he and I became friends. While talking to him he showed me several scars on his chest area, huge scars, and simply said "American GI" smiled and pointed at me and said we are friends now. Not nerve racking at all for a kid in his late teens. For years afterwards I have returned to the hotel, always being given a room for the 20 marks a night I paid that first year. Now that deal is gone, though while it lasted I watched this place turn into one of the more beautiful and comfortable small hotels in Munich. I believe the last time the nightly rate was over 200 dollars. I can not afford that, but I still walk by, and though my old friend is no longer there, I still stop in to look around the lobby and tell my friends the stories. The location is ideal for those who can afford it. Right down the street from the park, a short walk from the old square, and not a terrible walk from the train station. Some day when I make more money I will happily stay here again.
