I visited Sponge recently as it was close to where I was staying. I’ve been here a few times over the years, but never got around to writing a review—until now.
While the place has a reputation and a long-standing presence, I found it a bit expensive for what it offers. I had a chicken pastry, egg cutlet, fish bun, eclair, and a cup of tea. The fish bun was the standout—fresh and delicious. The egg cutlet was okay, nothing special. Unfortunately, the chicken pastry lacked flavor, and the eclair was dry and underwhelming.
Overall, it’s convenient and has some nostalgic value, but the quality doesn’t quite justify the price.
