Spontini Shinjuku

Essentially a fast food place, and pretty expensive for what it is. Quite a small shop, but pretty cool and bright and modern-looking with lots of metalic surfaces and high stools. Busy and gets crowded, and those stools are not the most comfortable, so I wouldn't really call it a place to enjoy a relaxed, leisurely meal. The food is tasty, but Milanese style pizza slice (pizza al trancho) is quite unlike other Italian pizza - it's a thick but light and fluffy base that is cooked in an oiled deep metal pan, so it is semi-fried on the bottom. Much more like American deep pan pizza than the usual thin Italian style. They have two sizes (I forget the Italian terms they use, but essentially regular or large) and they were bigger than I expected. I ordered the large size as a set with fries and a salad and a drink, and it was actually a lot of food. I'd recommend forgoing the fries altogether, and only choosing the large size pizza if you are very hungry or a big eater. The salad was fresh and tasty.

First time eating pizza with a knife and fork lol. It was good. Kinda like a Chicago deep dish style crust. Like a buttery crust with a bit of crisp. Which i like. I went more for hype than anything (instagram). Cool spot to just grab a quick evening bite. Only thing i got confused about was which trash to throw the ketchup packet (for my fries) in 😅. Other than that, ordered from a machine and just waited for my number to be called

The pizza is pretty good... super cheesy! I hate that, if you buy a whole pizza, you pay for toppings by the slice. It's crazy expensive, and best if you eat there. To go options are not recommended. Overall, I'd give this a B+ rating. Worth it for one time and only one slice... anything more feels like a waste of money.

This was basically bread with tomato sauce and a bit of cheese. The bread itself is thick and heavy, nothing like an actual pizza base. Paid 1,550 yen for this small size and honestly, it’s not worth it if you’re looking for real pizza. Even adding “extra cheese” doesn’t make it a proper pizza — it still feels like plain bread with toppings. I even saw people throwing away their plates after just a few bites, so it’s definitely not just me. Overall: disappointing and not worth the price.

Spontini Shinjuku is a great spot for a quick and delicious meal. Conveniently located just outside the station, it’s perfect for grabbing a bite on the go. The pizza is excellent — thick, cheesy, and full of flavor, just the way it should be. I also loved their high-tech multilingual ordering and payment system, which makes the whole process smooth and hassle-free, even for visitors. Overall, a satisfying experience and definitely worth a visit!

This was a pretty mid level experience. The pizza was not great but it wasn't bad either. I've seen a lot of talk about it online so I went out of my way to find it and try it. It reminded me of the cheap Little Ceasars deep dish pizza we have in the US. It was a very filling slice of pizza and it was not bad but not worth the hype it gets either. It's worth the price you pay and all but I likely won't eat here again unless I'm hungry and it's very close by and I'm craving pizza. In my honesty opinion it's not worth making a special trip to the area to eat it but if you are close by and curious then give it a shot. It is a very cheesy slice of pizza that's for sure.

🚫 not recommended Honestly, the place is just very ordinary—I'd say less than average. The pizza itself is not good at all. It's basically a thick dough with just a tiny bit of mozzarella cheese on top. Even the tomato sauce is very bitter and lacks any real pizza flavor. I feel like they're deceiving people because the way they take their pictures is from above, so it looks like the pizza is loaded with cheese. In reality, it’s got almost nothing on it. The proportion of cheese to dough is totally irrelevant, and it's just not worth it. On the plus side, the place is clean and the atmosphere isn’t bad. They have some nice music in the background, so you can enjoy a chat. But if you’re looking for a good pizza, I think this is the worst place ever to get one. Also, it’s totally overpriced. The price is super expensive for what you get. I literally saw people throwing all their pizza in the trash bin out of disgust 🫣🥺
