Spoon The Boat

Everything was quite tasty, the food was served quickly, and the dishes were beautifully presented. There was live music playing, which did not interfere with the dinner at all. I ordered the pâté — a good appetizer for one time. For the main course, I had arancini: tasty and slightly spicy, with a nice kick. The choux dessert caught my attention and turned out to be really delicious. As for the lychee cocktail, unfortunately, the alcohol was barely noticeable and the lychee flavor was quite weak, so it wasn’t what I was hoping for. Overall, it was quite good 🙂

This restaurant was recommended to us during our trip to Budapest, and it was a real success. The chicken supreme with mushroom risotto was incredible, truly delicious. The Angus burger and Caesar salad were also very tasty. The hot chocolate was a perfect ending, confirming that this restaurant's cuisine is of a very high standard. The restaurant is very beautiful and tastefully decorated. The staff was attentive, but I must admit we had to remind them three times that we had ordered glasses of white wine, and even more times to get the hot chocolate. This latter point was not in keeping with the excellent quality of the food and the beautiful restaurant and its decor.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and relaxing, and the view is absolutely amazing. The service overall is good and attentive. The food is okay — nothing exceptional, more on the average side. What really left a bad impression, though, was the billing. The receipt already included a 15% service charge, yet when they brought the bill, they asked again for an additional tip. On top of that, the receipt was only in Hungarian, and later I realized that I had actually paid around a 20% tip in total, which is far too much. This felt misleading and unprofessional.

It’s nice. Definitely recommend! Sad didn’t try their main dishes as already ate in another place before coming in, but desserts there were delicious! In Gerbeaud and Parisi Udvar desserts were not as nice if comparing, even they are traditional historical cafes, so that restaurant on boat really impressed and changed our opinion about Hungarian food, as we visited all famous tourists restaurants in Budapest and often left disappointed. Would like to come here again. Nice live piano music too! Staff are friendly and polite besides one interaction with receptionist. Only sad we didn’t get a table near the window so make sure u reserve in advance. And very slippery outdoor in winter, so be careful.

We waited 15 minutes for our order to be taken. Then our starters turned up before our drinks. Everyone around us had been given breads and water and we were not even offered it. My husband was offered more naan for his hummus once he had pretty much finished it. The mains came out after approx 15 mins after finishing the starters. Then when our plates were taken, we were offered the dessert menu. We waited over 25 minutes for the waiter to give us the dessert menus even though half the restaurant was empty and many staff members were hovering around the room trying to look busy. It was only after we said we should pay and leave that the dessert menu turned up. We stayed for the dessert and it was the highlight of the whole meal. We asked to pay when the dessert turned up but yet again we waited another 20 minutes for the bill. The dining area was fairly easy to talk in but tables were quite close together, no chance of a private conversation. Paid the equivalent of £115 for three courses, one mocktail, one beer and two coffees.

Peter was an amazing host. We would definitely recommend. Food was fantastic and atmosphere was very sophisticated. Good experience and would return for another visit. Thank you Peter for making our evening more enjoyable.

We celebrated New Year’s Eve 2026 at Spoon – The Boat, and it was truly one of the most unforgettable nights we’ve ever experienced. The restaurant’s location, with its breathtaking view of Buda Castle, set a magical tone for the evening. From 6:30 PM until 1:30 AM on January 1st, the service was simply outstanding. The entire team worked with genuine passion, constant smiles, and an infectious joy, sharing the celebration with every guest rather than just serving it. That level of energy and dedication is rare. A special mention to Botond — I’m attaching his photo with this review — you are exceptional. Professional, warm, and memorable. As for the food, the chef deserves his own standing ovation. He is not just a chef, but an artist — a true maestro conducting a symphony of flavors, where every dish felt carefully composed and beautifully executed. To the entire Spoon team: you were magnificent. Thank you for turning our New Year’s Eve into a night we will never forget.

Really nice restaurant on the river! We ordered the tenderloin steak (medium rare) and the fish dish — both were delicious and perfectly cooked. The lemon and ginger lemonade was super refreshing too. The food is a bit salty and prices are on the higher side, but the great service and beautiful atmosphere with amazing views make it worth the visit. Very suitable for a romantic dinner, and the view of the bridge at night is absolutely stunning!
