Sporthotel Pontresina

Our 5-night stay at The SportHotel was incredible. My husband and I came to cross-country ski. The location was perfect: we rented equipment nearby and walked to the ski trails, then took train back using complementarytrain/bus pass for people staying 3+ nights. Shopping & many restaurants a 5 minute walk. The building was beautiful inside and out. Artwork both modern and traditional, many period details, and comfy updates: detailed wrought-iron stair railings on the elegant staircase, antique furniture pieces on display, historic photos, contemporary sand-etched wall art in the dining room, fresh flowers & fruit all gave it a historic-modern Swiss ambience. Tidy & organized equipment storage area on lower level w convenient access. |The room was spacious, private, quiet with a beautiful view through 2 large windows w little balcony. Staff cheerfully & promptly provided our requests for extra pillows & blankets. Laundry service provided: fill a mesh bag & drop in bin near equipment room by 8pm, pick up after 8am. |I could write 300 words about the Breakfast. Elegant, varied, fresh, huge buffet of fruit, hot & cold cereals, toppings, nuts, yogurts, eggs, bacon, cheeses served around spacious circlular serving station w side table fullof fresh breads, attentive & pleasant uniformed wait staff. |Mixer opportunities w other guests. Driver/maintenance/cleaning staff very hard-working and esp. appreciated. Thank you, thank you!

The hotel really accommodates skiers and other active guests. We enjoyed the breakfast spread, convenient ski room, excellent sauna, and proximity to bus stops that took us to 4 different resorts during our stay. It exceeded our expectations!

Our family was here on vacation for the first time and everything was of top standard. The location was close to the mountain and had beautiful views from the room all within walking distance to the center with lots of shops near by. The staff were all extremely helpful and exceptional hosts and made our stay fantastic. The breakfast and dinner served was lovely. The new year’s event planned with the live band was well organized and amazing. Overall would recommend and come again.

In February I brought a group of 11 persons to the Sporthotel on a XC ski trip. I've stayed there several times previously. I always look forward to its classic charm, modern conveniences, excellent service, and exceptional, innovative cuisine. All these attributes were in full effect during my most recent visit. Pro-tip: if someone is traveling with a large group, best to start dinner when the dining room opens at 630PM for more rapid service.

Fantastic breakfast buffet, the restaurant is a wonderful experiance. No kettles available for rooms but able to get hot water from the bar. On the first floor, minibar available. Room I had was cold, on the second day better, no floor heating and no slippers provided, so the tiles are cold. The location is fantastic. All in all good experiance.

Perfect location and great food for breakfast as well as dinner. We had a room with halfbord and also used car parking below the hotel. Very nice, spacious car park. Wellnes area has good saunas and jacuzzi with nice view. We will be back.

The staff was always ready to help out, super friendly. Kitchen needs an extra star. Breakfast bar had so much to choose from (especially the cheese!). Dinner was tasty and just right portion sizes (not too much, so there was always space for the delicious desserts). The waiting staff at the restaurant were lovely. Rooms were tidy and spacious, no issues with the bed. Would definitely go again, and highly recommend.

It’s a cross country skiers heaven on earth. Location, facilities and staff helpfulness and engagement very positive. Long stay is possible with a variety of food options in hotel and on street. Parking very good, drying room and ski prep area outstanding (irons and benches onsite) and ski trails 350m stroll (entry near gorge bridge). I do hope to make it back soon
